So if Rey's a Jedi and she's skilled with a staff, maybe we could get some double-blade lightsaber action, Old Republic style

YES PLEASE.

Jesus christ calm down. I know some of you got real hyped by this but let's not get crazy and say ridiculous things over a trailer/

As someone who has never been blown away by the films, I don't think besting them is out of the realm of possibility.

Remember in Jedi when Luke goes smash mode on Vader?
I just want lightsaber fights like this. Fuck the elegance. Give me hack and smash.

Finn got that "I've made a huge mistake" look down like a boss

It's like if Luke took on Vader in ANH. You know he's about to get his ass handed to him, Bane style.

A crazy motherfucker destroyed EVERYTHING they had recorded in the temple.

The few surviving stuff was stolen by Jedi artifact collectors who didn't even know how the stuff worked.

Source: (Marvel) Star Wars #10

Destroying one library wouldn't make people forget about the Jedi.

Imagine someone destroying the library of congress today and what kind of impact that would have on us remembering WW 2 and then remember that Star Wars is thousands of years more advanced.

The Jedi becoming completely forgotten after only 20 years between the PT and OT is weird, but you can sorta handwave it away with the idea that the Jedi could have been discredited and smeared by the rather biased dictator running the galaxy during that time turning them into traitors and charlatans.

I believe they've also established that nobody in the galaxy outside of Yoda, Obi-Wan, Vader, and maybe high ranking imperials even knew that Palpatine was a Sith or even able to use the Force.

By the time of TFA, it's been 50 years since the Jedi Order was a thing, and unless you were living on Coruscant or a contested world in the Clone Wars where you happened to see a Jedi in combat, it would have been like 0.0000001% of people in the galaxy who ever saw a Jedi in person.

Wasn't the question that KK asked JJ that got him to finally commit, "Who is Luke Skywalker?"

Man when Luke shows up I am just going to blubber like a baby.

It's been a while since I saw a trailer so seamlessly paced, from the opening stillness to OMG where are my pants hypeness at the end. Holy fuck.

These aren't the middle ages. These are advanced cultures. Do they not record history. It's insulting to think they're that dumb

Edit: feel like I'm thread shitting. Loved the trailer and super hyped. That's all that matters
Nah man not at all. You're doing fine.

In either case yeah that line nagged at me a bit too. It hasn't been THAT long since Luke and Darth Vader. Also Jedi seemingly survived for a little bit past Order 66 when it was declared.

They are using practical effects and location shooting for everything possible. Not green screen shit.

oh it has plenty of that too, see those stormtroopers, they're standing infront of bluescreen. It's so obvious, but the color grading hides it well.

Crazy how according to the trailer The Force and the exploits of Luke, Han, Chewbacca, Leia, and the rebels are legends of sorts.

Seems so soon for that.

Thread already shitted up with major unmarked spoilers. Yup, fuck this. Back to blackout I guess. This is why we can't have nice things.

How are there spoilers for a movie 2 months away? Also how would you know what is true?

People getting way over-sensitive with the "this MIGHT BE A SPOILER" when it's really just a discussion on what happened in the trailer, and conjecture.

Me too, but what Luke? WHAT LUKE?

God dang, chills thinking about it.

Luke fucking Skywalker, we are actually going to find out what happened to him, what he became.

Does seem a little.....far fetched.

If one thinks about it, who saw a Jedi and lived? And the Empire doubted Vader despite him clearly revealing his powers in front of others.

I am so interested in finding out what happened to Luke.

Looks ok, overplayed the nostalgia a little with that beginning intro, similar to a new hope. Some of the costumes look... off. I can't say I liked whatever Kylo Ren's hood is made out of.

Of course I'll be there day one but I think people are hyping this up a little too much.

I finally watched it. The second the trailer dropped a plate of food was put in front of me at a restaurant. It wasn't the right time and place...

Wow. I guess the thing that impacts me the most is how the events of the OT are legend.

It's Star Wars. Some of this stuff was leaked ages ago and was confirmed when trailers and merchandise started hitting. People are posting spoilers knowing god damn well they're spoilers.

The story has been leaked for months. I'm only privy to one major detail - not by choice - and I haven't seen it pop up in this thread, but they're definitely out there.

The leaked script has been out for a while now. Some of these spoilers are legit.

I still loved the second teaser more than this, it had the "Oh shit they are actually doing it" surprise vibe, I was sold from there, this was a little underwhelming but then id been waiting for it like a giddy schoolkid for months now, nothing could live up.

When the trailer dropped, our class stopped dead between the lecture, cut out the lights and watched it on the projector in surround sound.

it was pretty hype

Brother's desperately trying to get booze balcony seats for four shortly after it comes out, will see how successful he is.
