obviously if it ever did happen it wouldn't happen until this series ended
Not a chance.

Come on man. I just had a back and forth with you and you haven't seen the movie we're talking about?! :/

JW isn't a great movie because the story is insanely stupid. As long as Trevorrow isn't writing Star Wars IX it'll be fine.

Seriously?? How am I supposed to describe what is tagged without spoiling it? There are 70 pages of spoiler tagged discussion here and you're singling out my one response?
Am I supposed to drag the people asking questions into a different thread?
If someone posts a question and I reply with something it spoilers, it is very clearly a reply to their question. If someone genuinely wants to know, they can click it. I'm not just posting random spoilers for fun nor is anyone else here.
It may have been said already but...
Is Finn gonna be the Kyle Katarn of the official canon? Stormtrooper goes rogue, becomes jedi. He even has a similar jacket to the one Kyle had in the original Dark Forces.
Trevorrow was given a lot of creative freedom on Jurassic World. Steven Spielberg even said that he kept trying to control as much of it as he could, but that in the end he wanted to back off and let Trevorrow make his own movie. Abrams said that Disney, or Bob Iger specifically, would come in and offer opinions on production and that was about it, that Abrams/Lucasfilm had the most control over it.
There's no reason to think that they're hiring Trevorrow because they think they can "control" him because if there was any shred of logic to that whatsoever, any director, Trevorrow or likewise, would be nailed with the same accusations. I love talking about movies to anyone especially in times of hype, I just wish that some people would bring more to the table than just their own ridiculous and foundation-less assertions as if they're there and know exactly how it works.
Yes. The reviews were good and it made the kind of box office money that suggests that there were plenty of repeat viewings.
Well...it should still be better than the prequels at least!Someone just said he is co-writing IX...

Im interested in what Oscar Isaac roll is in this
What movie can I see this trailer in theaters with? Sorry if already answered. I just can't bear watching good trailers on a small screen.
I haven't seen that. IMDB isn't listing him as writer so I'm not sure it's true.Someone just said he is co-writing IX...

They can still be great. Not like the OT lives on it's amazing direction. It's not The Godfather, it's a fun space adventure for the entire family. You're not going to get Darren Aronofsky doing a The Fountain-esque SW movie. Maybe the Anthology movies will be more 'experimental' and less 'vanilla' (even though all previous SW movies are vanilla and it doesn't matter).I expect it to be fine but that's what I'm worried about. I want more than fine for these movies. I want them to be great.
We can only judge Trevorrow on the work he's done, and if his directing style doesn't change between these movies then we can expect a very by-the-numbers, safe, vanilla directorial style that puts all responsibility on the script.

I'm seeing SPECTRE on IMAX so hope there's no reason for Star Wars not to appear before itLove when that happens.
I can't stop watching the trailer. I haven't been this hyped for a movie in a long, long time.

Wasn't JW generally well received? Everyone I've talked said they loved the movie. Then I come here and people trash it?
This is why I watch movies for myself and make my own decisions.
I enjoyed the film. I would not classify it as "good", but I am glad I saw it, it felt like an entertaining though dumb sequel to the first film with some cool action and scenes but nothing of any substance. I would however want a Star Wars film to qualify as a minimum of "good".
JJ is a strong palette cleanser for Episode 7, he knows sci-fi action and Star Wars, and he's competent at all that stuff. As far as a return to form I would trust him with a straightforward "modern OT" Episode 7 to set the tone, and at the minimum I believe he will deliver a good film, hopefully a great one.
Rian Johnson is very talented both as a writer and director and I have very high hopes for Episode 8 to build on 7 and go much deeper and in its own bold direction (not unlike ESB to ANH). He seems like a great choice for the second part on all levels.
Colin Trevorrow has made basically one film that led him to get this job, which was an amusing but silly blockbuster. He's highly unproven with this kind of film and seems like a real step down after Rian Johnson. I still love most of ROTJ but looking back it is a step down from ESB, and I don't want a weaker third film again.
So crazy thing I just realized
At the very first second of the trailer, the pin holes on the decaying Star Destroyer panel that Rey opens makes it look like a bunch of stars.
Now, if you think of that scene coming right after the opening crawl, I think this could be the very first shot of the entire film.

The theater my friends and I are going to are showing like 8ish viewings on that Thursday, but I managed to snag us tickets to one of only 2 imax showings (which happens to be the last one that day)...how early should we show up to get good seats...60-90 mins?
To be fair it was going to be hard to top Empire
