I know what black face is. It's from another time where equality wasn't a reality.
This Is now. Why can't this just be an innocent costume and makeup job? Even if he was just going for generic rapper, for Halloween, would trying to make himself look black be unacceptable?
I understand the context from history, but this needs to be okay. If we aren't there yet, we need to get there at some point.
Oh my god look at all this shit. What a wall of shame. So many posters I recognize saying the most ignorant and heinous shit.
Putting on makeup to resemble a black person is black face, son.
And why is it in poor taste? Since you disregarded countless pages of people telling you and others why it's in poor taste, I suggest you do some research on good ol' google if you still don't get it.
It's just diet racism guys. Relax, right? /s
What do you think blackface is?
It shouldn't scare you. The banned posts here have a clear pattern.

It's not even that difficult. If people would actually be tolerant and read there wouldn't be a problem. But no , people gotta inject their own experiences and not even be coy about it. We got people in here straight up telling black people how they should feel and to "just get over it"Yeah, I guess thats certainly understandable and something revolting.
I just tend to think a lot of people like me (who are not american) will not understand the context of it and will get banned for seeing nothing wrong with it.
We should get a clear rule wether this forum is international or 100% USA based.

Rappers are musicians. Not black people. You don't need to have "black" painted skin to be a rapper because rappers aren't race specific. It's... obvious enough. No one needs whiteface to go as a county singer. Just denim and plaid and a cowboy hat and bad taste in music/I'm not looking for trouble. I thought black face referred to the racist and upsetting exaggeration and disrespectful displays.. The awful stereotyped make ups.
Isn't this just some dude trying to look like a rapper for Halloween? Is he only allowed to be a white rapper? Does anyone like white rappers?
I mean it's not as if the largest collection of information is at your fingers and you are able to research why something is offensive to certain people or anything like that.Yeah, I guess thats certainly understandable and something revolting.

Most people that defend this probably wouldn't do it, they just want to defend the idea that racism is dead and that they never have to feel uncomfortable about it.
Holy shit. You think equality is a reality now?
There are two things I know about you: you're not black, and you still haven't read through this thread.

I get it, but by making a show of it, couldn't we be fanning flames on something that might be innocent?
I wish we could all dress up like each other, without disrespect.
Sorry guys, I don't mean to upset anyone. I don't think the costume in question is intentionally malicious. That's my main point.

Yeah basically. Cross reference nu black and the mucisian pharrell for more detailsRappers are musicians. Not black people. Also, from earlier, "nu black" is the how you call someone an Uncle Tom in the new millennium?

I mean, he did a pretty good job at imitating another person... regardless of skin color. It's a bad costume, to be sure.
I can't see the difference, honestly, between this or if he had chose to dress up as macho man Randy Savage. Suddenly the costume isn't offensive because he isn't dressing up as someone from another race?
I mean Kanye is black...it's not like he put any sterotypical features of a black man on his blackface. It's not in good taste but it is a Halloween costume that is meant to be dumb.
I'm from Finland and I have no lack of understanding about how stupid doing blackface is even if slavery & all the other BS black people have gone through in the US weren't that big of a thing here.Yeah, I guess thats certainly understandable and something revolting.

I'm sorry if I offend anybody and I definitely do not want to be banned myself! I in no way agree with this costume or these posts but I am left wondering did these folks get banned for these? If so, why? I'm just curious as they didn't come off as particularly racist.
Bleaching your hair isn't rooted in old clown shows about slave culture.
Thanks, that was an interesting Google search. Jeez.Yeah basically. Cross reference nu black and the mucisian pharrell for more details

Did these motherfuckers listen kanye's last album?
The first one was continuously being disingenuous, and the second one is playing off the whole thing by saying "Halloween is supposed to be dumb" as if it stands as a great rebuttal for being offensive. He might have said other things, I don't know.
The point is that if I was here on the first page, I wouldnt even research it, since I would see noone being banned and nothing wrong with it.
I would comment on it based on my experience.
Sure, the people after have the opportunity to see id be banned and see its real bussiness and research it. But ijs, I wouldnt feel the need to research if I came in the thread at its earliest stages.
There needs to be disclaimers in threads like this as to why this kind of stuff is offensive and forbidden.

EDIT: Heck, where I live, this kind of action can actually be considered anti-racist. Its not unheard of painting your face black to support anti-racism movements.
It could be naivety, but I was thinking he went for the dark skin because most of the popular rappers are black. It's an important element to the costume I would think, particularly if he's trying to be Kanye.
I don't know country as much as I don't know rap, but concerning the country comparison, if a black dude wanted to dress up like a country star, no makeup needed, but if he was going for Garth Brooks, I think makeup might be his only hope.
I realize now this is a lot more sensitive than I first thought. I apologize for upsetting anyone.

where the fuck do you live?
So instead of asking why it's offensive after seeing people offended you would immediately jump to put down why it's not offensive? Being from another country doesn't excuse ignorance. If you legitimately didn't understand why this was offensive than ask.

People who think this is racist wouldn't pass a day in any of the Latin American countries.
They imitate anyone regardless of their skin color, at least in my country.
It's like clockwork. You would think after the graveyard this thread became people would think twice about posting.
To be fair our group of countries can be pretty racist and insensitive.
My great grandma told my cousin that he wouldn't be welcome back to the family if he ever brought home a black girlfriend. I would say "it's just my great grandma" but I'm pretty sure my whole older family would feel uncomfortable if somebody brought a black significant other.

That's your family problem. Not the country's
Then tell me if you actually do that everytime you see anyone is offended at something.
