Could be Zen, but I doubt Zen will use. I think Zen will be most of a monk type character. Mayne he will attack with ki or something.

Gief was obvious and datamine says it's SimNooooo! I mean, I hope Sim, and a LOT of stuff points to Sim, but... It's Ono! He never makes it that easyIt looks too much like Sim, and therefore I am scared

-that flame looks like a v-trigger or super, and it looks low to the ground? Does anyone know the properties of Sim's low super in cvs2 was it? Never played him much there.
-could also be a far and slim inferno
-could also be an amazing yoga flame, but wth.. That's too far haha
And as stated before: the people who don't want Sim are much more prone to claim it is him than the ones who want him.. People are trying to brace themselves not to be disappointed either way!

Nuh-uh, I think most people are resigned to this being Sim outside of the most desperate of anti-simmers. That said, i'm still reading this thread so I guess on some level I'm hoping it's the newcomer instead but all signs point to ye olde character. That or just morbid curiosity :3

Random thought time: What if FAN is the new character, female and from france?
I'd be down for that. As I've stated before I think they did a much better job with the female newcomers in SF4, SF5 is closer in that respect, but I'd be cool with another new female.
And just due to the history of the series we can pretty much bet most of the DLC characters are going to be male, going 50/50 on the genders for the newcomers isn't going to exactly flood the roster with estrogen.
As a French guy I can say all those names are straight-up ridiculous and, having a character named like this would be hilarious
"Fanny" is a somewhat common name though.
Fanny has a meaning outside France that would make it sound ridiculous.

Yeah it would be absolutely crushing if he did a tease like this and it wasn't him.
I was only hoping it wasn't Dhalsim because the "It's Sim" people were way more confident in it than they had any place to be off a guess.
That being said it does look a lot like Dhalsim, that's for sure. However if I were a big Dhalsim fan I'd hold off on celebrating, if Ono had revealed Laura the way he planned it would have looked a lot like Blanka.
I still think it's him though.

Doesn't the Ken Bogard rumor imply that Zen is from India though? Outside of Necalli, all newcomers have been announced in their country (or general region) of origin.

Well I wouldn't completely rule it out. Guilty Gear has a character named Fanny, but I think SF thinks a bit more globally. It's also completely possible FAN refers to a working name that was changed.

On another note: after re reading Rasid's frame data I believe he needs a few buffs, or to be played completely different from what everyone did in the beta:
-His lp spin is -2 on block = 6 frame (or better) start up moves will counterhit his throw after
-His rollkick is - 8
-all divekicks (except ex) and all eagle spikes are heavily punishable on block
-people let him get away with a looot of stuff in the Beta. It won't work after a short time.

Had to google who that was, never played GGPetit. Yeah, I guess when all is said and done GG is more "japanocentric".
To be fair Guile and Ken are pretty popular here.
One of my friends who loves SF but isn't the most hardcore player was disappointed Guile isn't in yet, but he's still buying the game. Although that may have more to do with Guile being his favorite for 20+ years than him being American.
