I was just about to post that. Any time I'm playing a lopsided match, I can say "well at least it's not Makoto vs Q". Ultradavid has stated that his strategy in that matchup is to wildly swing away and hope for the best. Cause really, what else can you do?

If a matchup requires a character to guess and swing wildly throwing strategy out the window, it's a bad matchup for them. I've seen great Q players win this match, but the match is usually filled with good guesses and parries.
I could see those characters being the 2017 characters, but I have less faith that makoto will be one of them since they could include a brand new character instead or someone else from the past games.

Its so weird with the 6 characters a year thing. I mean is wave 2 really going to have Sagat,Akuma and Sakura ?. Thats just a bit shoto heavy for an entire year. Are we going to get new characters again ? because so many favorites are still out.
I feel like the shoto squad is going to be spread out for headlining each year. I think wave 2 will focus on Final Fight and Alpha again. We did get a Maki tease in the background after all.

6 is only for year 1 (which features 22 characters total.) Year 2 pretty much has to have more than that. Agree that Sagat/Akuma/Sakura all in that batch would be kinda shoto-overload.

Given the premier event schedule, we're likely to see a bit of a break before EVO, and all 6 should be out well in advance of Capcom Cup. EVO appear to be ready to announce their 2016 date, so we'll be able to spitball a schedule estimate pretty soon.
The parry mechanic keeps any matchup in 3rd Strike from being the worst ever. But of course, Makoto can parry too.

6 characters a year seems like plenty to me. This is under the assumption they're also going to continue making system-wide changes (i.e. adding 2nd Ultras) & tweaking old characters properties/movesets.
EDIT: However I'm still in the mindset of the old arcade upgrade title; if they're chasing the LoL model, I'll have to see SF anywhere near that level of popularity/constant activity before I believe it.

What is watching footage going to prove? The game has a large number of bad matchups and that's a fact. Jojo's is my favorite fighting game but I'm not going to let that blind me to how bad some of the matchups in the game are. I can beat many kakyoin players with joseph but that doesn't mean the matchup isn't 8-2.

Anywhere from 8 to 12 seems viable, due to the MOBA model. 8 gets you one about every 6 weeks. 12 gets you one a month.
Variable V-Triggers is more likely.

I just hope they dont add anything like DWU and Red focus. They just felt really half assed IMO.
I wish fighting games could be more of a games as a service type of thing where new characters and stages are added over time throughout a console's lifetime with game updates being made instead of new $60 versions. This way you can have all of the old characters people want as well as the new characters and you can just make the game the best fighting game of all time.
