Skullpogo is so much fun!
Hadn't bothered playing with the height of the jump before, but now I have tried it out, my scores have started improving. Up to 70k now on Halloween theme.

Any other Openfeinters out there? I only have about 4 ppl on my list right now.

We're including it into Mystery Files so I've joined the posse as maxmars70.

I'm getting better at Eliminate, brought two 59p cell packs last night and the day before because it's a great shooter to play before going to sleep, I wish there was a valid reason for playing free matches though, it's too boring knowing you earn nothing at all playing without energy. I suggested to ngmoco to maybe have rare drops of energy, nothing too fast to collect but it would help those free matches knowing you have a chance to find 1 cell or something. It costs 4 cells per match to earn credits btw.

Bumping as a few hours back I brought Asphalt 5, sick looking game on my 2g touch and is amazing value for £4, so worth it if you like arcade racers.

Some screens from my ipod touch 2g:

3Gs and 3rd gen touch users get some sort of bloom filter applied to the game, imo it looks nice but people on toucharcade hate it, the screens on the iTunes store all have the bloom effect if you are curious.

Playing some card ace. I have one problem with it in comarison to word ace - it feels slower. This is to do with the numbe of players at the table combined with the fact you havnothing to do. In word ace, you could at least be tooling around with your cards to find a better hand.

In car ace, if there are a lot of played , say 5 or more, I can excruciating to wait. Even more so if you have folded. It seems easier to just quit from that table and join another at that stage. His means that people end up skipping around tables a lot and there is no chance to develop strategy or learn opponents.

Also I very rarely see opponents hands when I win. I'm not that familiar with proper rules, but do you only show hands at the showdown if you win?

We definitely need a gaf game going.

Agreed that it can take a bit long when there are a lot of players. We're actually working on an update with "auto-actions" - so you can select whether you want to bet/check/fold without waiting for your turn - this should make at least some of the game quite a bit faster. We're also improving our player-time-out checking, so that you don't have to wait for a player to time out as long before they get kicked from the table.

Of course, we're also still working on WA 1.1 - fortunately, a lot of the 1.1 functionality works for both WA & CA, so some of the improvements will be shared across games.

So, yeah - there are very limited times when you're forced to show your hand - and we're adhering to the rules about when you technically *need* to show your cards, and only showing them then.

Players in real life *can* show their cards whenever they want, though, so we're going to be adding a "show cards" button so that you can flash your cards if you want to.

Thanks for the replies!

I like how you've added number of players since you no longer need the space for your own hand. The popup buttons are pretty good too. Did you add a colour border for the positive (yellow), and negative (red) reactions? I didn't notice them in Word Ace.

Glad to know you're always improving your product.

after playing all the major fps games on iphone (modern combat, eliminate, doom, duke nukem etc) i can safely say that modern combat still has the best control system.

every other control system is still horrible and awkard, but modern combat is still fun to play.

I wouldn't say horrible, but perhaps awkward for some. I've only played Doom, Wolfenstein and Duke. Doom is at least an interesting game :p

You did the last bull level?
Yeah. I've been playing it non-stop since it came out, got all of the upgrades, pretty much all of the hats, and last night at 5 in the morning, I finally got through the Golden Bull stage.
The next stage is freakin nuts.

Eliminate has minor control troubles but it works fairly well, it would be much better if my thumb would slide in the screen better though, maybe I wash my hands too much :p could do with a thumb cover which works like a stylus.

I had no problems with Wolf 3d's controls on the iPhone but I didn't like Doom's controls at all initially.

Here's a tip to make them more like Wolf's controls; go into options>settings, turn "Center Sticks" and "Ramp turn" to "Off"

Also, you can enable tilt to strafe, which works well for me now after some practice, by turning "Tilt move speed" up beyond 0%.

This fixed all of my issues with the controls, thanks! Plays fantastically now.

This looks really fun!

Looks like there will be a second purchase this weekend, along with Ninja Honda Karate. :D

How exactly is save data handled on the iPhone? I did one of those "copy all data from phone to computer" things in iTunes last night, then did a sync. I got a warning saying it was going to erase everything on my iPhone and replace it with what I had on the PC (why it does this, I have no idea)

Quite a few of my recently purchased apps disappeared off my phone... I think they are still on my computer though. I hope they are, as I had a 10 hour Undercroft save. I'm assuming if I copied Undercroft onto my computer, I just need to copy it back onto the phone?

Now here's the hairy part... I started to re-download Undercroft before I realized what must have happened.. It hasn't completed the download as I dropped out of WiFi. If I erase a new copy of Undercroft from my phone, will the old one copy over from my computer with the save intact? If I redownload from the app store, I'm assuming my save data is wiped?

Badly. Your save files are pretty much locked to a physical device from what I've seen.
Yeah it's pretty fucking terrible. I've given up on several games because I can't back up the save data and wanted to make space for various reasons.

Sorry, but your Undercroft data is lost, I'm pretty sure. Same thing happened to me with Rolando.

So when the iTunes synchs and backs up your applications, it doesn't take the save data with it? Well what the fuck is it "backing up" then?

Ugh!

Has there ever been an era in the industry when so many blatantly derivative games have been created in such a short period of time?

Once you have one of these games, I can imagine maybe wanting another. But do you want 125+ more? Are these people actually making money?

I'm hooked! Only real complaint is that the controls in Picross can be a bit of a pain, I don't think the virtual dpad is... Precise enough, perhaps it's too small?

Also I'd like it if I was holding down x and scrolling across an entire row, that it wouldn't overwrite squares I had already marked, similar to the way the ds version works.

Other then that I love it

I'm glad you did. I came back to this thread to see if there was any news, since last time I looked, it still wasn't up. Anyway, bought and reviewed. Terrific job--this will keep me busy for ages.

Also, The Isle of 8-bit Treasures is out.

Chunsoft-esque roguelike from Tecmo. Looks awesome:

755042.jpg

http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=32039

Anyone try it out yet?

It's no Shiren, but decently fun in a simplistic Roguelike way.

Lots of random dungeons with slightly varied themes, three classes (warrior, wizard, archer), level resetting when you enter each dungeon (ala Shiren), and after clearing one of the many dungeons you can re-run them with special missions (like one dungeon where the dare is to reach the bottom while still only a first level character).

You can get new dungeons and weapons by linking any of your tunes (annoyingly this won't accept podcasts as I really don't listen to music on my iPod touch). It is nothing elaborate (like hmm judging that this is a country tune from '96 the game will make sure to include a wild west theme), I'm sure it is just something as cheesey as taking either the music file's name or size as a random seed. The weapons created, while given elaborate names, are really just a random sword, bow, or wand (annoying when it ends up as a bow and you were hoping for a new weapon for your warrior) that has some random abilities (one of the game's gimmick's is the "Weapon Reel" which is like a big slot machine wheel with 1 out of every 10 spaces or so having some fun little effect like fire damage, lightning damage, critical hit, etc. which will kick in if the wheel lands on that space when you hit your opponent) with no real thematic rhyme or reason to which abilities the game puts on the weapon.

Sweet :D It's good to hear that you're enjoying it. Thanks for the review too!

I had trouble making my ipod connect to my wifi last night so I started playing some older app's I not touched since 5-6 months back, dipped back into Touch KO. The game is great, keeps a medium pace and you need to watch your guard in later fights, pick through the defence of the cpu too. Very good boxing game. If you not played it since they did the harder cpu update it's well worth going back to the game.

Is it just me or are there not as many games to buy as before. I haven't had anything I've wanted to buy in a while, except for bs2010 which I didn't even know came out.

I've got plenty to play, it just doesn't feel like the tons of games you wanted to buy at once like it did before.
