Hopefully this isn't considered spam; but since we've completed development of our latest game and I was told it's ok to brief fellow gaffers about own work, here I am with some more info.
"We" in this case is me, plus Bliddo of Star Ride fame, Barbara Salvati (
here's her page on DeviantArt), DJ Brunito (again,
linkie) plus a number of translators, tester and among them a couple of other gaffers (Stoney Mason, Haunted.. Hi!).
The game concept was born when me and wife were spending the last days of her third pregnancy seeing mystery movies / series on TV. I jokingly offered to write a program that could write credible plots while she didn't think it could be possible. Not only it was possible, but now it's a game everyone can play (well, after Apple will have approved it of course), including my wife.
At a first glance it will remind you of Clue / Cluedo meets Phoenix Wright meets WarioWare Inc., three games I loved. I wanted Bliddo on board because Star Ride has some great gameplay (btw, you should play it if you haven't already) so I knew he was the right person to make microgames work. He also took on OpenFeint integration so you will be able to chat with others, brag about your scores and achievements.
The game complete title is "Jacques and Stella's Mystery Files Club: La Dolce Vita", because it's all about two young detectives questioning supects and examining evidence with the player's help.
There's a PDA in the game, which will help keeping track and making sense of all the clues (e.g. you will need to position suspect markers in the rooms of the building basing on the clues you've obtained, and the PDA will validate your guess.. How cool is that

). At first it was to be an iPhone but then I came to my senses and made it a generic PDA.
The above shot is from the Italian version -- since there's a bunch of stuff to read, we've translated it into German, French, Italian, Spanish and of course English.
We've really worked hard on this game, to make the original concept come through unscathed, also because it's uncertain if we will make other games. If this is our first and last, it will have to be GOOD.
One of the things I like the most is that the content is presented like a kaleidoscope: everything is procedurally generated; families, their relationships, people appearance, the buildings where the cases are set, even the background and music of the microgames are chosen randomly among a set of predefined ones. Even case titles, something that never gets old (for me, at least):
Another thing I like is that the game is varied and fun. We have nine microgames and some could also pass for minigames, with nice touches on them. For example, in the "land the spaceship" game, a chibi version of the female detective pilots the ship and, when there's no fire coming from the engine (hence, free fall), she panics. So cute!
There's a number of modes centered around minigames for when players will not have time / brains to spend on the main game, plus leaderboards for each mode and trophies (achievements) for the main mode.
What else? Well, OpenFeint support means you can chat with other people, even if they're playing other games (OF is a sort of Live! / PSN environment) and see how well they're doing.
There's probably more and now I'll start my round of PR with all the media outlets out there (btw if you are one of them, please contact me and I'll send you material! Thanks!) but first I wanted to write this on GAF. I almost made a new thread, you should be all thankful I didn't. haha!
