"What matters is that it is YOUR answer."

Damn that game is amazing.

Jesus these dialogue options are like this on PC too or no?

Really re-thinking getting this game right away and just planning the wait and see game.

I'd go with 5 LUCK and Idiot Savant (not Pot Luck, where did you get that?), I'm sure weapon mods won't be very relevant for at least the first 4-5 hours of the game. Random 3x exp chance on the other hand might mean an extra level, depending on lady luck.

It's called Pot Luck on the Vault 111 character builder site's version of the Perk chart.

They did not design a completely different set of dialog opitions with a ton of new PC-exclusive voiced options, no.

idk if i should do my first playthrough in my usual stealth style (normally i do stealth and speech but speech is pretty much gone so it would just be stealth this time) or mix it up and do heavy weapons run first, I've never done a heavy weapon build, mainly cause imo heavy weapon ammo is pretty scarce compared to other weapons.

It is certainly odd, I make the character look like myself and then I sound like I'm American. I certainly feel resources would have been better spent elsewhere.

I mean this is Fallout, so that's not exactly unreasonable.

Honestly I have no issue with RPing within a predefined character. Like valid point you cannot create whatever character you want when they are voiced and have a set of predefined characteristics and backstory. That's a relatively legitimate complaint. But you can still RP within the role provided. It's just a narrower spectrum.

You can RP in TW3 even though Geralt is a super well defined character. You get to choose how he reacts and handle hundreds of situations and deals with those people in his personal life based on your interpretation of how you see his character. You play within the role that is provided. Which is exactly what I intend to do here in FO4.

I'm not a girl, yet I still plan to play the wife first and will do so in a RPing way seeing how the game operates in the opening and deciding what kind of character within game I will be playing as.

Yes but we've had two games in the series that didn't do this, but they felt the need to take that away.

Actually FO3 did it too, giving you the backstory in the vault and forcing you to look for your dad.

What if I don't want to be a girl? Or I want to be a girl that didn't have a husband?

Obsidian understood that you should not give the main character of Fallout a backstory. Bethesda does not understand.

The Witcher 3 is a completely different kind of game, and like ME3, it established it had a main character and this was their story. That's not what Fallout is supposed to be.

What is Bethesda obsession with this?

This is probably a dumb question but is the PC version a console port or is it the other way around?

and how can you even find out with most games?

Watched most of the 20 minute video and read some of the Spanish feedback.

+ Weapon handling and animation looks terrific

- Bullet sponges persist (poor visual feedback when blasting enemies unless the shot is fatal/critical)
- Asset quality appears poor (will be addressed on PC with mods, but still)
- Grossly simplified dialog trees
- Dull lighting (again, mods to the rescue)

? Actual spoken dialog might be decent
? Power armor now requiring an extinguishable resource to use is intriguing from a gameplay perspective

I'm still really looking forward to the game, but it's totally understandable that people are underwhelmed by the footage. It's not flattering in the least.

I've forgotten how SPECIAL works. I know you have 21 points to spend at the beginning but can you increase your SPECIAL levels later in the game or are those initial levels set in stone?

Ah, fuck me. I started the morning in the wrong fallout thread. This is what I want to see, character build nerding out! Has any site whipped up a character creator tool yet?

That's the very reason I disliked fonv. I want at all interested in the story, and my character was nothing. I like direction.

People getting hung up on such insane details in here now.

What if I don't want to be a girl? Or I want to be a girl that didn't have a husband?

Lol.

Is this what people sit and think about while playing games now? I just load it up and jump right in. Do you also dress up as the character your playing as? Pretend you're actually in the Apocalypse?

FO1 and FO2 had pretty detailed backstories as well, having us as a resident of Vault 13 and Arroyo Village(where you had a mother, aunt and other relatives), along with pretty heavy driving forces in the main plot to get us to go out and do stuff to save our Vault and save our village. NV is the only game in the mainline series that provides us with a near total blank slate and no outside motivations beyond ourselves.

But Obsidian fucked that up and ruined it completely, worse than anything done before in the series by saddling our character with the worst backstory in Lonesome Road. Making us responsible for the destruction of the Divide in what was the biggest "who gives a shit" plot point meant to make us feel responsible for something we had no knowledge of.

From what I understand, after your initial 21 points everytime you level up you can spend that point on a perk in specials you already selected or use that point to increase your special.

Then there may be bobble heads which may increase your special. That's not confirmed yet.

I'm sorry I thought this was called a role-playing game.

Did Todd Howard not say "Make any kind of character you want" at e3?

I dont have a problem with dialogue wheels and voiced main characters, mass effect and alpha protocol do them amazingly well.
But this is not even a dialogue wheel, its a fucking cross with always 4 options.
And people who said wait and see, the spanish leaker (who i have read in spanish, not that shitty reddit translation done by a brazilian) tells is always the same. If thats not confiramtion of oversimplification, i dont know what it is.

Jesus these dialogue options are like this on PC too or no?

Really re0thinking getting this game right away and just planning the wait and see game.

You will have to wait for role playing change in gameplay something like 1 year until it starts to be top quality on PC.
Modders are going to do it, look at new beggining or interesting NPCs in games like skyrim. But im sure it will take some time.

Wouldnt suprise me some mod throws the dialogue cross and voiced protagonist out of the window and you can play a more expansive role playing game in a year.

But the answer is no, its going to be the exact same on pc.

He didn't say "make any character you want with any back story you want", you obviously have to play within the limits they set for the sake of the story.

Jesus christ

I know, I was looking forward to playing as a one legged mother of six who lost everything during the great war.

Yes?
That's why they're called Role-playing games.

Plenty of rpgs give you a back story or some character at the start, so what if it's not a blank slate, no other Fallout game has been.

Sorry Commander Shepard, but you are now a travelling space sales man looking for his long lost twin brother, fuck earth, humanity and the rest of the plot. It's an RPG!

Hahaha, I hear ya!, sadly this seems dumbed down/more accessible to a broader audience.

That's really disappointing man. I'd been looking forward to Fallout and honestly the dialogue parts might be my favorite parts of the series. I'm not sure why they made this change but if it's in Elder Scrolls too I'm out.

I think it looks good!! I'm honestly not too worried about the dialog options being limited, for all we know more options will pop up the deeper you get into the game. The gameplay looks awesome imo.

Maybe not best thread to ask but can I start playing Fallout 4 or do I have to buy/watch (ugh) previous games?

I really do know nothing about the series so maybe it's even better to start 100% fresh?

Already pre ordered since I've found it for 27€ on PS4 (47€ with 20€ pre order coupon as a gift)... if reviews are sh*t I'll cut the pre order but I thought the price wouldn't stay for ever (nothing paid till shipping too so it's cool).
