I think that you need X amount of money or X percentage of the goal reached. I'm not sure exactly, but it has to do with the funding and they aren't there yet.
The company is basically gone if this doesn't get funded.
They're closing up shop if this doesn't get funded and the game won't be made.
Oh wow, I had no idea it was that dire. The company is basically gone if this doesn't get funded.
Erm.. really? I thought skullgirls did ok for 'em.
They probably should of came up with something that would have more mass appeal, I guess. :/
There are no other options? Trying a Kickstarter? Nothing? The company is basically gone if this doesn't get funded.

Everyone else got their turn before Lab Zero. The situation surrounding royalties for Indivisible is A LOT more favorable for them than it was with Skullgirls. There were no "extra proceeds" - we spent everything on the Skullgirls DLC, shipping, etc. It looked like there might be some extra money at one point, but unexpected shipping cost increases put an end to that.
We all took major pay cuts to try to make the Skullgirls DLC happen, thinking we'd squeak by with just Squigly. But when it blew up, subsistence pay ended for 2.5 years proved up being difficult to survive on, and many people had to take on freelance work to make ends meet and that slowed down production.
We did get some royalties from Skullgirls' sales, starting in July 2014 after the majority of the sales were over. Those were used to pay people so they could focus on Skullgirls instead of taking on more freelance work.
Honestly though, like what?? I'm actually surprised this isn't hitting more people's buttons, it's sort of upsetting in some ways. This is why games today are all the same, because all the unique ones don't have the same reach and name-power to get funded.

7) God is dead. This isn't the reason this is struggling. There are a ton of reasons.
1) Indiegogo.
2) Time of year.
3) Pretty closely after a few major Kickstarters.
4) Large goal is daunting.
5) High price point compared to a lot of other Kickstarters (most are $20).
6) No early bird special.

Needs more White Male leads.
oh my god kill meIn the current climate, the industry's receptive enough to female leads for that not to be an issue. As long as you make a few compromises.

I don't think early bird special would help. This isn't the reason this is struggling. There are a ton of reasons.

I really don't think it has to do much with the game itself. L0 is doing a ton right and should be commended, however, especially when it comes to transparency. That said, maybe there's a reason why Kickstarters aren't so transparent with their goals and such.
I don't think early bird special would help.
I can't be the only one that if they see an early bird special and I can't get it that if I was only barely interested enough to back it that I don't.
I can think of a few kickstarters I didn't back just because I missed the earlybird special. it showed me I should just get it at a lower price.
I mean they can help early numbers, but I know I can be petty about stuff like that lol.
Shocking news: (theoretically) whitewashing an ethnic minority character provokes strong reactions!Character is white and people suddenly hate it. Crazy lol.

The helping the early numbers is the specific reason they do it. Posting a huge number on the first day makes it look more likely that the campaign will succeed, which helps to get more backers in a kind of snowball effect.

Wow... what a petty reason. Was that from the AMA that happened?
When we were pitching the game to publishers, we had at least one comment that it was "ballsy" to have a dark-skinned female lead. One or the other would've been fine, but both was possibly a lot for them to process.
We talked about this earlier in the thread. I think for some people early bird tiers may as well be international tiers since some people end up paying more than Americans because of the different currencies. I think in that respect they're pretty useful.with a 1.5 mil goal it would have been a drop in the bucket and likely just cost money on this one. it can work for a smaller scale project where 1000 early bird people would matter, but here you would have needed 10k early bird slots to even make a meaningful dent into the whole total.
In general I don't like early bird specials, even when I get in on them. I've skipped plenty of projects I likely would have backed if they didn't have them just because I hate missing out on that early bird special when I find it a day or two after launch :/
to be fair I mostly back board games though as there is far less risk with them than games. Anyways, I will likely back this on friday when my paycheck comes in since it's the last check before the project ends.

I have some legitimate concern that if we're not funded that it will make people shy away from that. :\

And people say representation isn't an issue :/In the current climate, the industry's receptive enough to female leads for that not to be an issue. As long as you make a few compromises.

Wow. That's disturbing. You'd think publishers would want to seem inclusive by having more diverse casts in their games so to gain a wider audience than the usual. But they're as fearful as imagined of the stereotype of risk-averse publishers.

Just doubled my pledge for a second time in hopes of a last-minute miracle but it's looking pretty grim.
How much of this campaign's inability to gain traction do you think we can chalk up to the campaign being on IndieGoGo versus Kickstarter. I just can't help but feel like this campaign would've been so much farther along if it was on KS. I know that Lab Zero has had good success with Skullgirls characters on IGG, but an entire game is a little different.
word needs to be continued to be spread. but especially with the increases in the last 24 hours 1.5 mil isn't impossible just a long sprint >,<
