Anyone having luck with a VPN?

I spammed FlyVPN until I got a ticket. Updated and decrypted the game in about 6-9 minutes, started it online once, then exited and went into Steam offline mode. So yeah, I was successful, I guess. I am installing the new NVIDIA driver for now, though.

Yeah, honestly I'd like to cancel xenoblade since I know I won't play much right now but I got it for $30 so I don't wanna pay more money later for it.

How did you swing that price? I'm getting the LE though. And the amount of content for 2 open world games, trying to clear them seems like a daunting task. lol

Thank god I have lots of free time currently.

From the reviews I've read so far it indicates that the game is much more difficult than previous games, that makes Survival mode all that more interesting.

This is good. Can anyone else confirm the settlement stuff can more or less be ignored?

The settlement thing looks more appropriate towards the end of the game where you have to stash loot and USE all the resources and stuff you've been saving up for some challenge. I think that Bethesda made it accessible early on for new players.

I read in a review that the player doesn't start from "scratch" when playing, which affects the sense of progression and building the character early on. Maybe the game's theme isn't the lone wanderer anymore, which I kinda don't like; it is possible to make an interesting key/main character in a wasteland setting without him being some kind of survivalist wanderer.

Inb4 lone wanderer mod.

Best Buy had a 50% off error on ALL games including preorders back around the time witcher 3 came out

$48 for the game on GMG was too nice to resist, so I'm all ready to go. I'm as critical of Bethesda games as the next person, but I played 1000 hours of modded Skyrim since 2011, so I know how to find my own fun in them. Looking forward to just exploring the wastes to see what I see. I also may kill a thing or two if provoked.

I'm probably going to get provoked.

Can anyone confirm what way the difficulty settings work?

Is it the usual hard mode = higher hp and stronger hits or does it work a bit differently in Fallout 4?

Trying to figure out what I'll go for before I get home.

Finally my copy is here. But wtf is this ? I need to install it first lol. This must be the first PS4 game that has no instant play.

I'm struggling to think of a PS4 game that doesn't need an install when you put the disc in.

MGSV did, Bloodborne did, TW3 did, Dying Light did, Uncharted did...

And that's only this year.

Edit: I suppose they were quick partial installs to get us going, but still. Installs.

yeah, seriously, someone answer this.

I've decided that my main character married an alluring but mentally disturbed lady who abducted a baby boy that he's annoyed by. Should make roleplaying interesting, provided the main story doesn't crap all over my personal narrative.

Wow. Now that the game is out so much bullshit that has been put to rest. Also how did NO ONE with the game play as a female character to confirm:

That yes the gender specific perks are in.

OH SHIT, I'm connected to a VPN. Here we go.

Edit: Ahhhh, but it's trying to download a 200MB patch and it's taking forever. Boooo. Gotta log out and download it with my home connection instead.

Is this a good build to start with? I plan to use VATS a lot along with stealth, wide range of weapons including a little bit of melee. I know lock picking and hacking is a must as well. Any tips are appreciated.

Read the OP end to end. Great stuff, BlueNinja. Informative, stylish, succinct and often hilarious.

Should arrive tomorrow from Best Buy. With Pip Boy socks. I wasn't going to get the season pass in advance but...socks.

lol. Will you be wearing them while playing? Will your family know its fallout time when they see the socks on? :p

Holy shit I'm an idiot. This whole time I thought putting points into the stats early game unlocked the perks. So 9 points in Luck = getting the lvl 9 luck perk. I could have sworn I saw a video of Pete Hines saying you could leave the vault with the level 10 perks if you wanted.

Hmm, I went back and forth on the socks with the season pass. Now I'm kind of wanting the socks again. Wonder if I have time to switch on Best Buy.

Tried searching but found no results; I know that intelligence affects how much XP you gain, does anyone know exactly how much of a % boost it is per intelligence?

As my first foray into the world of Fallout - can I just bumble my way around figuring stuff out? If I start looking at beginners guides etc I'll probably never come off the computer to actually play.

You shouldn't have a problem.

those using a VPN are you just connecting to a Aus/NZ server and logging into steam or are you changing the store location or any other work arounds?

Not that I've played it but I should think so. It all seems fairly intuitive although some of the reviews said that a few things aren't explained all that well though.
