Check my previous post and see if that works for you.

Verify came up clean. When I tried to launch again, it said it was Detecting my video card (again). Then I tried to launch to play again afterwards and CTD again :(

For new page: What are the benefits of playing on survival? I just checked and there aren't any difficulty related achievements.
The higher the difficulty, the more likely you are to encounter a legendary enemy. They are very tough but are likely (guaranteed?) to drop a rare item of some kind.

Man, I really had zero hype for this game. Had it not been for the GMG 20% off deal I would have been buying Tomb Raider instead this week. But, I'm fucking hooked. Probably got about 5 hours in today and have done zero story stuff. Just running around killing bitches and claiming territory as my own. Seems great so far.

The Fallout 4 PC performance thread might be able to help you, but if it was detecting your video card again then it sounds like something's wrong on the software's end. If you post there, I'd include your hardware.

Yeah they really improved the base gameplay. They managed to make the role playing parts worse than 3, but they definitely improved everywhere else.

i'm going to have to institute some kind of system to incentivize my doing the story or there is no chance I'll see it through.

My (digital, PS4) copy has been stuck at 5% installing for over 10 minutes now. I was just about to close the game, when it moved to 6%! Should only take 15 hours to install at this rate...

I don't feel good about closing it while it's "installing", so I guess I'm just going to leave this running for the next day?

Our very own, somewhat unfortuanately named v0mitg0d has been testing the techniques outlined in this survival guide for the past few weeks.
He has put together some video documentation for you to peruse.

- Workshop and building tutorial
- Spoiler-free review
- PC gameplay (1080p 60fps)

Video was ok, but unfortunately the commentary falls victim to the 'pewdiepie' effect, aka over-dramatizing and nonsensical quasi-comic-voicing self narration (not a real term, but I have no idea how to describe it - the 'I will climb your treeeees' part especially). I'm not a fan of that style of video making/commentating. Also apes Maka's 'little kid voice' intro/outro. Just my 2cents FWIW, not that I have any room to criticize I suppose, with my viewerbase being as small as it is.

Generally speaking, should I sell junk or store it somewhere and keep it for building stuff?

Transferring all that junk from your inventory into some external container is a bit cumbersome.

I've gotten to 37 in 5 minutes, I got to 10 immediately and then it slowed down.

Edit: Missed the digital part!

Well that was short lived. Had to request a refund. The game is broken for me. Shitty. Oh well, I now know to never, ever even think of buying a game from this publisher now.

Thanks for your help BTW. I also posted on there and I'm going to re-install whatever latest AMD driver I can get for my setup and hope for the best.

Going this route... and reinstalling to my SSD.

45 mins with no indication of progress except for an ETA that just keeps going up. Stupid.

There is something wrong with your HDDs guys!
I have a normal 1TB 7200rpm HDD and it only took 10-12min.

Wasnt there a mag that gives you a stat point early on in ooening area? Swear i read it somewhere

South west from the vault exit you can find a ranger's hut with a magazine in it that gives you +5% damage reduction.

At your settlement, go to your workshop or a workstation and press transfer. There will be a prompt to store all junk.

So, uh, how do I name my character? The game tells me I must name my character before proceeding while filling out the registration form but nothing seems to be working (the X Accept button is greyed out even after spending all my points).

In
your old house after the vault
it doesn't give you a stat point, but a perk related to unarmed.

Above the stats is where the textbox is. if you're on PC you gotta use the keyboard for that, can't use a controller.

I don't think so... I will run tests on it just in case though.

I think the steam process got borked somehow. It wasn't showing progress or anything, I don't think it even started.

There's a bobblehead super early on that gives you a Perception stat if that's what you mean. I'd have spoilered that but it's in a ridiculously obvious place.

Yeah, it's a couple areas further in than the very beginning area, though.

Not a problem, hope you get it sorted out.

Go back to Shaun's room and the SPECIAL book is on the floor. It gives you a free stat of your choice.

I didn't know this.... Huh.

Probably. I'd bet they'd prefer to send 24 gigs over the internet rather than the 30-whatever the game actually takes up.

Odd. Did you buy it after midnight?

I bought it yesterday and preloaded

steam was running the background, is it somethign it would do automatically?

Boy is that dog annoying. He constantly runs in front of you, sets off traps, explodes oxygen tanks next to you, gets hurt easily, etc. All of this I might have been able to look past, but the never-ending, insanely obnoxious panting noise he generates made me send him back to sanctuary. Never have I heard a dog pant this much. Good thing the Lone Wanderer perk is pretty decent.

Enjoying the game a lot aside from that.

People that were saying this game isn't very buggy are fucking liars. Nothing game-breaking so far, but I'm running into scripting errors, movement bugs, and other hilarious shit left and right.

I was able to get the game. I had to convince my employer if I could leave 1 hour early. It just finished installing the update.

READY TO DIVE IN!
