Anyone knows how to scrap the items in your junk.

Edit: I guess you gotta throw all your stuff on the ground and then gotta scrap it through the workshop select menu. Gotta be a better way around.

Does anyone know how to scrap junk without throwing it all on the floor and breaking it down that way? It's pretty annoying constantly needing to do that.

INT doesn't seem worth bothering above 6 now (unless you're going for radiation weapons), and it's certainly not worth it for the XP gains, since it seems to only be 3% per point, and only for discovery/quest XP, not kills. You can actually get it to 6 with a Bobblehead and a fugly hat too.

Sys-Spec Question:

Fallout 4 Steam page says "minimum requirement: 8GB RAM "

Can I run this game with 6GB?
Will I get an error message? Will the game be paging constantly to my SSD and drop frames like a m*?

Rest of my system with GTX 970 and core i7 should be more than enough for this game.

I've found concrete once, which I had to buy. Can't find where to get it for free from picking it up etc, even though there's blocks that I can't pick up everywhere... anyone know where I can? Assuming I can of course.

Scrap yellow houses in sanctuary in the builder mode.

Really tempted to jump in. I've never played a fallout game and was put off by its terrible fps mechanics and overall performance / bugs but I actually find this post nuclear war theme really intriguing .

I am not a huge rpg guy and got bored of witcher 3 about 40 hours in. Is there a way to auto level items and not requiring huge amounts of time in menus checking stats?

Would like to play this primarily as an fps with story / choice

its interesting... all these places you run into with workstations that you can then scrap or build on, you can (and should?) simply use it to scrap for materials. Like, im sure theres a crazy person out there that will spend 1000 hours in the game and build settlements in ALL these places, but I need to start looking at them as just material caches and scrap everything in places ill never build. Like this drive-in diner for example, or even the red rocket at the start

if I do 1 proper settlement, like say Sanctuary, Ill be happy lol

speaking of, these pictures that austin Walker (from Giantbomb) posted yesterday of the stuff he built are rad, makes me want to delve into it)

Basketball court and pool bar

I imagine people will build some really cool settlements in this game. A tip towards this, remember that you can store items in your workshop in stead of scrapping them, so you can place them later. Not all items can be made from scratch it seems.

I laughed, that's amazing.

How does safe storage work in this game? I need to drop supplies off somewhere and free up inventory space, but I don't want to lose anything.

No idea really, I've just been dropping all my junk in the toolbox of the Red Rocket Garage and pieces of Power Armor in the power armor station. No weapons or armor I really feel the need to hang on to yet, but I'd probably store those in their respective workbenches if I did. I hope that stuff is permanent, otherwise I'm fuuuuuucked.

just got nuked while fighting some ghouls. came out of nowhere, all I heard was a cartoonish whistle sound as the nuke fell I guess

these fucking games man...

Quick Question:

All the crap I collect - How can I break it down so I get the "scraps"/"parts"?
I can see the list of junk items in the Pip Boy and also what they would break down to.
I tried all the benches etc. but I can for the life of me not figure out how to scrap the items!

Help{

Bump!

Uh...they are using the same songs from Fallout 3.

The games all exist in the same time period. Or at least, the world before the bombs fell is.

It makes sense that there would be continuation, right? And from the players point of view, Fallout 3 is 7 years old. Have you been playing it recently enough that hearing those songs again is now a problem?

You just dump them all into a work bench of any kind, and it will pull resources from there if you need the stuff to make anything =) ezmode!

So I'm like 5hrs in so far and I am still
Busy scrapping the town and looting everything that isn't bolted down
lol!

I was really surprised with the graphics, the people look kinda cartoonish and so does the world but it's so smooth looking and atmospheric, I really felt overwhelmed when I got to run wild >.<

If anybody is familar with Bethesda games and wants to go off the beaten route, as soon as you emerge from the vault turn right and head to the hole in the gate at the back right of the vault entrance. You will go completely the wrong direction for the starting quest, and come across some huts, then some farms, all of which have quests, terminals etc. It's a really neat way to play the game. But don't do it if you need hand holding. There's a bunch of settlements and such around there which you can unlock at a low level, and basically start the game without doing any of the main quest.

I think in that Museum (where you find Preston/Minutemen), it's somewhere in that building but I can't remember where. I remember picking it up and being too heavy and dropped it, plan on returning to go pick it up again. Pretty sure it was there somewhere in that building.

Does the male character voice acting suck that much compared to the female? I keep seeing nothing but praise for the female since she was in Mass Effect and Resident Evil and apparently delivers lines with more enthusiasm.

My copy is arriving tomorrow and I'm still a bit torn on what to make.

So I can store whatever I want in any kind of workstation? Will those items be accessible whenever I open up a different random workstation?

Let me guess,
Lexington
?

Wrote a little story about what happened to me there.

yes. this whole zone is fucking tense as shit on Hard. im sure someone will say its super easy, hey more power to you, but damn, Im having a hard time (but good time). Im bleeding ammo, but I just realised pipe gun ammo is different than pipe rifle ammo, and im swimming in pipe gun ammo so now im using that

I didnt even go into the parking lot OR the supermarket, Im trying to get to where the raider quest is lol. I really should clear that supermarket tho if past Fallout games have teached me anything

Dogmeat keeps getting fucked UP and it bums me out everytime man, that whine ;_; hang in there Dogmeat :(

Uh .. is it possible to remove every house in Sanctuary? I like this building feature very much and well .. I wasn't able to remove some of the houses. :/ Or does their look change when more people come to the village? :/ Because .. well .. after removing all those things, the destroyed houses are the last ugly things there .. :D

PLayed a few hours, time to give some impressions. I suspect some of these things have been said already.

- Playing on hard, the game can be hard at times, but not unmanageable. If you aren't careful, especially around things like ghouls and mirelurks, you can find yourself suddenly dead.

- Explosives are very useful. I have the demo expert perk which makes them juicier. They can turn an imminent existential threat (such as a group of ghouls or mirelurks) into nothing in one toss.

- I don't mind the dialogue system or the voiceover. I'm playing a female character and have found the voice work to be great.

- It's definitely Fallout. I've enjoyed wandering around.

- The game looks great at times and ugly at times, depending on where you are. The presentation is a bit uneven.

- Framerate on PS4 is, I have to admit, kind of bad. It's good some times, but other times it can be distracting. In certain fights it can grind down a bit, and in some areas the framerate just stays consistently low for no perceivable reason. This seems to happen in certain indoor areas, like this raider base I'm tackling right now.

- The dog is quite useful in combat, despite his general clunkiness.

- weapon and armor variety has already been really good even at just a few hours into the game. Lots of stuff. The weapon/armor modding system seems interesting too. I also appreciate the more detailed armor system with pieces for different body parts.

So far i'm a bit disappointed. I have loved every mainline Fallout game so far but i'm about 7 hours in and the game hasn't really clicked for me.

Don't get me wrong, the game feels like a step up in pretty much every category except AI which still feels like your typical Bethesda rpg AI. My main gripe with the game is the new leveling system, i don't like this Skyrim-esque style of play long enough and you will be the master of everything. I personally like it when you can't achieve everything on a single character, it makes everything feel a bit more unique. Other thing that annoys me is the dialogue system, the answer up to this point have felt too vague, i'd rather have the full dialogue as a text next to the choices rather than just "No" since i have gotten to trouble with few of my dialog choices thanks to that.

Okay so I am confused by the Scrapper perk. At the first level it says I can salvage parts from weapons and armour. How though? It doesn't seem to work like salvaging stuff from Junk. For example if you have a coffee mug, when you craft something it'll be converted to ceramic when needed.

This doesn't seem to be the case with weapons. If I put a weapon in the workbench inventory, I don't see to be able to get any components from it that I can see? Neither am I able to any where see what components a weapon or armour may have.

Anyone have any idea? I'm totally lost here.

So is there any reason to buy the console versions knowing how buggy they are and how little bethesda can do to fix them compared to PC modding that starts to fix the bugs from day1?
Yes, ease of use, and overall cheapness. This gen the question you're asking is becoming less and less humorous all things considered.

You have a separate inventory of resources per settlement. You would have to build a trading post and assign settlers to transfer resources between your settlements.

Go to a weapon or armor station. You can scrap from there.

Well, my two roommates (who play on PC, for the record) are highly disappointed so far. Bad controls, awful intro that limits RP, gimped leveling system -- there's a lot they hate. I feel for them.

Me, I'm enjoying the game. Not a fan of the leveling either so far but I liked the intro and the controls (PS4) seem alright. I dunno. They're pretty picky people.

For the record I've played 90 minutes on PC and 5 hours on Xbox One - I've had no problems or bugs on either platform. Both look great, too.

For everyone struggling with scrapping.

http://www.twinfinite.net/2015/11/1...-and-dismantle-junk-items-for-crafting-parts/

Random junk, like aforementioned kitchen appliances and bones of your enemies, don’t actually get physically dismantled. They need to be transferred to the Workshop bench, and they will contribute to your available materials whenever you craft. When it comes to weapons and armor, head over to either the Weapons Workbench or the Armor Workbench. Here, you can permanently dismantle guns and outfits for specific parts.

Fusion core SON

Dogmeat actually finishing enemies off when you are reloading is super useful. The game does better horror tension wise than most horror games out there (on hard at least), these fucking feral ghouls man.
