I had the Deathclaw trapped trying to get to me through a storefront, and I got out of the suit to deliver the coup de grace with the laser musket. :D

NICE! my Pip-boy edition just landed at the perfect time
to make dinner and not be able to play at all for a few hours. DANGIT!!!!
edit: well, at least the 500 MB update only took 3 minutes to install. gotta love FIOS!

Is there a way to skip the launcher when starting the game from Steam (Big Picture Mode) so it can be started with just a gamepad? A command line parameter?

can anyone confirm if "Clint" is in the game? I mean J.P. is in?? Clunk is in? Lederer is in?? but not Clint or Clinton???

from what I can tell on reddit, I think im out of luck..

And good side-quests too.

More like some of the best ever in video games!

Dungeons are starting to get a bit dull, time to do some quests. Kinda feel like maybe dropping the difficulty down to normal. It's not particularly HARD on hard either, it's just that I take absurd damage while the enemies soak up bullets. More annoying rather than challenging.

There's a Fallout4.exe and a Fallout4Launcher.exe where you installed the game. Fallout4.exe opens the game without the launcher.

I went straight Tourette's Guy on the first Radscorpion I came across. Holy shit. Pissin' out the window and shittin' out the window really are two different things.

They really didn't make any improvement on PC what soever. The controls are so fucking clunky, and the first person still feels inferior to an actual shooter. It makes survival so tedious because of how it feels.

Does anyone know reasonably what level my character will get up to? I want to try to plan things out for my perks, but I'm not sure how much I can afford to invest in increasing my SPECIAL or not.

No Cassandra
No Vinny or Vincent
Three versions of tits and every surface level post apoc reference they could google though.

I got the game today, and to my surprise I can actually run it... with my GPU disabled. It appears to be some driver problem which causes the game to crash after a few seconds after starting it up (just a black screen comes up and then closes). I'll see to correcting this and I should be able to post some tantalizing screenshots of how Boston looks with the help of a 256MB GPU.

So how is this playing on Xbox one?

It's absolutely fine. I have not encountered a single but yet, no framerate problems or whatsoever. All this 'panic' the last two weeks how some low res PS4 shots looked bad were all for nothing. I also absolutely don't agree with things like ''This game looks terrible, it's a mess, like a 360 game,,etc.'' I am quite impressed with an engine this old, that it can make the interiors like the first vault look damn good indeed. Like the three pics i posted a bit earlier in this thread.

On top of that the animations are improved significantly, you can actually now play the game in third person and manage very well and it won't look terrible. Plenty of little improvements here and there, gunplay is fun and very good, VATS is big fun again and more challenging now because it doesn't completely pause the game anymore. I love the crafting and building.

Not once during my few hours of playing did i think ''god this looks ugly...'' hellz naw.

So, it was all hyperbole?

Well, I..Am...Shocked.

This still doesn't help. The 2nd rank lets you build stores, but the first one is the really important one that is supposed to let you share stock across all workshops. The game (and best I can tell, the guide) don't bother to explain how to do this once you take the perk though.

edit: Finally found the answer. Once you have level 1 of the perk, you simply go into the workshop mode, walk up to a settler in one of your towns who isn't busy, and hit R1 to give them a town to run a supply line to.

Five easy quick questions after my first play session (went in mostly blind).

1. I just jumped out of my Power Armor after the
Deathclaw
fight. Should I have stashed it somewhere, or brought the (oh-so-heavy) parts to a place? I just left it....

2. Should I be focusing on perks/SPECIAL points when levelling up in the beginning? Thinking I f-ed up a few things but I don't know if I should keep going or reroll. Played about 5 hours.

3. I don't understand the building stuff, and am stuck in the first quest in Sanctuary. They apparently want food, but to plant for example corn I need corn. I have no corn. Where would one get corn, or the ability to plant corn? Corn.

4. What should I do with all my junk? Is most of it worth saving for the crafting/building, and if not, any good early-game easy to get to vendors? I'm overburdened so often. Any reason to keep duplicates of stuff in this game? I know F3 had the repair mechanic but that doesn't seem present here.

5. I don't understand the armor stats. What do the icons mean? And why does some say +++ when they don't seem better or even have the same icons (which would make them useless for comparing between eachother, no?)?

1. Map should show your last used PA, so you can always go pick it up later. You can stash it at Sanctuary or Red Rocket, both have the PA rack where you can mod and repair it.

2. Perks generally give you more powerful bonuses, so unless you need to unlock perks that are greyed out, I'd avoid putting too many points into SPECIAL.

3. You can do it later, you can find wild crops or just go liberate some from other farms - it'll only take 4-5 fruit to fulfill that tutorial quest requirement.
Abernathy Farm, south of Sanctuary, has plenty - plus the first trader I found.

4. Stash it into Sanctuary / Red Rocket for now. I've just stashed my extra weapons/armor too since so far I haven't needed the spare parts - can always do that later or sell them for caps.

5. Shield is physical resistance, bolt is energy resistance, nuke sign is radiation resistance. The + signs will popup whenever the item you're looking at has better stats than your currently wielded/worn stuff, but it's not always necessarily the better choice.

Honestly the potential this game has is making my mouth water. Only managed to play a few hours tonight but I'm almost not mad I have to sleep soon. I know this will keep me busy for a long time.

Is it just me or is the difficulty higher than Fallout 3 and New Vegas? Got absolutely and repeatedly murdered attempting a very early side quest.

Have you guys been rolling with the dialouge camera off or on?

Also PC version question: Is it possible to play this on a sofa completely with a controller? I already had to get up to type in my name.

So someone told me to max out intelligence at character creation since that'll make you level up much faster. Would that be a good idea or would the benefits not outweigh how much I'll have to sacrifice my other stats for max int?

Yah, man... I played about 6 hours on xbox one today (hardly did anything, haha) and didn't notice any major issues. Got shredded by some baddies when I was underleveled, stumbled through the settlement building (my town is a dumpster fire) and used the CRAP out of VATS (it's so fun to target limbs).

Framerate was fine, graphics were great, story is whatever (I kind of related - I have small kids)... it's a Fallout game, exactly what I was expecting. I can't wait to have more of it unfold for me.

Why is there so much junk to pick up, i mean holy shit i donnow what the fuck am i supposed to do with all this stuff, and i'm only 2 hours in :|||

Also, game is freakin gorgeous in the day...nights are so so
