What companion you guys rolling with?

I've found the girl from the combat zone to be the most useful, and doesn't get mad at me for stealing stuff like Piper.

Currently with Preston. I like Dogmeat but I could not ditch him fast enough once Preston became available. Dogmeat's paws constantly skittering across the floor kept making me think I was getting ambushed by animals.

I just skipped that mission until I can get some better gear. It's a really, really tough mission when you're playing on Very Hard.
Yeah it was tough I'm playing on very hard too. Funny thing is the quest completed when there was still like 6 enemies left. So it was a personal goal of mine to kill them all. It took awhile and I basically counted on codsworth for half the enemies. He's such a beast. I'm loving the challenge on very hard that's not even the worst situation I've been in. There was a place I went in with high level super mutants. Finally after dying a bunch of times was able to take em all out with a combination of mines turret and a nukaGrenade that I randomly found. That shit was satisfying.

Dealing with settlement right now (resources question):
where the hell I'm supposed to find corn and the rest of the seeds for the fields?

been to three different targets and had my friend in the burbs go to her store to find Nuka Cola and ALL of them are gone. Fuck Jones for this shit.

Yeah, this annoyed me quite a bit, too. I checked Target last night, just in case, but unsurprisingly they just had the sticker out for it on an empty shelf. So my wife heads to work today and swings by Target around 8:30 this morning. All gone. She talks to someone that works there and they said they aren't getting any more either. And of course you can't order them online on Target's site or even buy them online and pick them up in a store.

For fun, I checked eBay for them. There's plenty of them on there already if you want to spend $50+ for a single bottle (With some Buy it Now options well above that). I checked the sold listings and some of them actually went for $80+. That's great. The only thing better than not getting a couple bottles so I could drink one and keep one is seeing that a lot of the people that did get them are just selling them for profit. *Sigh*

So I have $60 in my PSN wallet and I want to play this game, but I'm still not sure about it. Give me some impressions gaf, is the game good? how is the bugs?

Behind the house with the power armor stand I found some melons. Pick them, plant them, and assign a person to harvest them. Rinse and repeat until you have enough for the quest.

Liking it so far. Did have some frame rate drops and scoping also causes drops, other than that it plays fine for me.

I just wish they would have kept the gun visible if you holstered it, looks way cooler.

Surprised to hear some think the voice acting is bad, I thought it's been pretty good thus far.

A lot of it is quite bad, especially the random settlers and raiders. Preston has a pention to always sound particularly bored/defeated during casual conversation. There's very little sense of agency to most characters, notes and logs often giving them more character than their vocal performance.

It's one of those things that makes you wonder how many notes the VO director actually had for the talent, because a lot of the stuff feels like 1 take and go.

Or walk down the road to the settlement that Preston asks you to help. They have the opposite problem you do.

Spent so much time on the creator. Haven't had much time to actually play since I had to run errands today. Enjoying it so far. Husband ended up looking like a mix of Ethan Mars from Heavy Rain and Joel from TLOU. My lady came out nice. Not too pretty but still attractive.

Anyone have an issue with the first manual save you made? Preview image is old for it. I may forever have an image of my bathroom set for it.

Let's talk weapons.

Any pump action shotguns you get reasonably early/at all? LMGs or HMGs (with power armour)?

I want to get Pain Train, a red PA, a pumpgun and a MG and knock people to the floor and then shoot them while they crawl around.

The Nomad nation wants YOU for the Mobile Brigada pain train. Join today. ¡Vámanos muchachos!

Ah, I thought it would move equipment and share it between workstations. Thanks!
Actually, I might be wrong on that. I think it does do what you want. I'm sorry, head is totally not in the clear at the moment. I swore I had that ability really early on. But I guess that's not the case.

I picked some Tomats from another settlement and they didn't seem to mind, I think thsoe can be replanted.

Farms. I haven't found corn yet, but farms tend to have a ton of crops and there's no penalty for harvesting them, and you can then plant them in your settlements. Diamond City has a lot of good stuff growing there.

I'm in the same boat. I enjoy Bethesda games. Elder Scrolls and Fallout series. Are the bugs in this one really that much worse then their past efforts? Or am I just spending too much time on GAF?

As in just crafting weapons/armor?

Yup all you have to do (non-spoiler but just in case people don't want to tempt themselves):
Go to the first town you enter, go to a workbench and scrap EVERYTHING. Now go craft steel sign (smallish sign). It can be placed on a wall and stack. You get exp every time you craft it. Once you are done scrap them all and do it again (it costs like 4 steel and you only get 1 steel back). Do this until you can't anymore and then repeat at Red Rocket.

Man the hardest thing is trying to decide which perks to unlock.

Do a build plan, it will help a lot. You can see how your character will be by a set level and move perks that wouldn't help at the time.

Interesting, thanks.

Good god I'm never going to finish this game.

"Ooh, another building over there to loot..."

An hour later...

"I think I checked every nook and cranny...I better double check.."

It has consumed me.

I switched Dogmeat out for Codsworth for the same reason. But now I constantly think I'm getting ambushed by raiders with laser weapons lol.

Hey, guys. Asked this last night but never got an answer. Is there a way to do snap rotation when placing structures so that they align evenly?

How many SPECIAL point can be gained/found throughout the game? As I'm looking at my character build, there are just so many perks I want and too few points.

Got my first game breaking bug! Yay!

Second main quest, in Concorde
i killed everything in town including the death claw but the quest isn't completing. Dogmeat can't sniff anyone out either.

Had my first crash on PS4. And when i turned it back on the combat music was on, and has now gone non stop since it crashed. Two hours of high drum music that plays over the dialogue, and i have no idea how to fix it. ugh bethesda!

Every time you level you can put a perk point into raising a SPECIAL. You can also find 7 bobbles that give you one permanent SPECIAL point and
a You're SPECIAL book in you're old house that gives you one point to any attribute you want.

And you gain levels so fast, you could probably max out you're character by the end game if you maximized XP gain.

Played for about 12 hours already and at Level 10 but haven't even visited Diamond City for the main story quest there yet. Too invested in exploring locations around Sanctuary and doing side quests around there as they appear.

I also seem to have a major hoarding problem. I'm seriously scrounging everywhere and keeping scraps to hoard back at Sanctaury for upgrades, but also means I'm constantly micro-managing the inventory of my character and my companions inventory just to avoid overencumberment lol.

Thankfully I'm on PC so I could just remove the weight limit via the ini files and carry a whole city's worth of junk on my person I guess hahaha.

Originally started on hard difficulty but found it too difficult which was surprising. Running at normal now and having a much more consistent path of progression, but I imagine I'll raise it back up again when I'm a bit more settled into the game and have better gear.

Performance wise I am noticing some areas of the game do push the hardware heavily. Drops down to around 50ish frames at worst, but so far they haven't been consistent enough to force me to drop below the preset for my rig (i5-2500K, GTX 970, 8 GB RAM), which is all Ultra except for High godrays. Always have the Geforce Experience optimised settings to work from to obtain more frames if I need them though I guess.

Funny how the Bethesda Fallout games hook me in instantly like this, yet I've never been able to get the same sort of thing out of any of the Elder Scrolls games.

Guys where can I find screws.. I cant make any weapon mods cause I dont have them.

Also there has to be a good way to scrap all your junk at once right? Ive been dropping it on the floor and then scrapping it.

Just asking again because I really want to mod my weapons
