Had a few hiccups on the PS4 version so far. One thing that annoyed me a lot was subtitles not working a few times.

Other than that, I've been enjoying my time with the game. Got my ass handed to me while trying to do a side quest. Had to leave it for another time because no matter what I did, I always ended up getting killed. But I'll get them back for all those deaths. Made it to (location spoiler)
Diamond City
before getting off. Got my guy to level 9 and I fortified the hell out of Sanctuary. So many walls. So many freaking walls.

how do I scrap stuff in my inventory and store it in the workbench? For example a wrench? Do I just store the wrench or do I scrap it first and then store the steel?

Transfer junk to bench, it's broken down as and when you need it.

Bench invs are shared.

In addition, this game repeats the Fallout 3 probably of tying my characters backstory down heavily, so I can't actually feel immersed and roleplay. There is an extreme cognitive dissonance with all the murder my character is doing, and the life they lived in Pre-War times..
yeah man i totally agree. its really hard trying to roleplay anything besides a boy scout when its so clearly portrayed in your back story that you are, in fact, a boy scout.

Hello,
What's the minimum to put in Charisma to unlock all dialogues options ?
Thanks.

10 obviously or there wouldn't be a reason to go that high! The skill/attribute system isn't like the other ones so you can max your charisma within the first ten levels if you want to put your points that way. So if that is your primary goal in the game, just go that route immediately.

In previous Fallout games I knew exactly what was being said, so I always knew which option I wanted to pick. Here, I basically have to guess.

Also, another complaint, this once again feels like a theme park version of a post apocalypse, and so far, I don't feel like things are really...seamless and the world doesn't feel like it really gels together in the NV's did.
Depending on your gender, you were either a soldier or a lawyer. Lots of opportunities for being a secret evil murderer.

Also, why I see your complaints they basically all apply to NV too. I don't get the difference. You're talking about the game with the Strip, and an army with like one base and thirty soldiers. Diamond City already feels more like a real place than anything in New Vegas ever did. The 200 years thing really is stupid though, I don't know why they went with that. But New Vegas had the "why don't they sweep the floors" problem too.

My game is crashing a lot now btw, on PS4. I think stealing Piper's coat ruined stuff.

Eight hours in - having a lot of fun. I've already had my share of Bethesda game moments where I wander off to a shanty town in the distance and it sends me down a cool rabbit hole. In general though, I'm kind of stunned at how similar it is to Fallout 3, both in terms of gameplay and aesthetics. In regards to the latter, I really really don't think the game looks very special, and its performance has been pretty horrible for me. I can make my peace with the typical Bethesda bugs (which have been super frequent, more so than I've personally seen in their other games) but the persistent hitching and frame rate issues are bugging me to no end.

Really, really appreciate that they've tightened up the combat but it's still far from on par with a standard FPS (which a number of reviews had lead me to believe).

It's really good obviously - but after all these years, jumping to another generation of machines, and getting the big 'numbered sequel' treatment - this comes off like a New Vegas style iteration to me, that feels like it would have been believable as a super late PS3 game.

I went with this build and put one point into luck after finding something in my house (after the intro), but I'm not sure what it was because I just pressed it and the menu showed up and told me to put another point into one of my attributes so not sure if its permanent

It´s permanent. You get a free point to any SPECIAL stat at start.

im about to start the game and i want to know if there's a trophy for beating the game on a harder difficulty, is there? i really want some tiny reward if i'm gonna beat it on hard heh.

Faction question

Can you join both the Minutemen AND the Brotherhood of Steel? I kinda just wanna see the BoS's quest line in this game. Kinda curious what they're actually doing in the Commonwealth as of FO4

Oh my good sweet lord Radscorpions are terrifying
Feral ghouls are terrifying
Even bloatflies are terrifying.

This is the scariest game Ive played in a long time as well. Like... Fuck everything. But fuck everything because everything is out to get me.

I have an irrational fear of insects. When bloatflies and the mosquitos buzz up all in my face and they buzz in my headphones it freaks me the fuck out

I was initially going to skip Science! Perk because I though it involved only mods for Energy Weapons but nope I was wrong! Looking at the Mods Chart there's alot of them that require at least one ran into the Science! Perk along with a combination of Gun Nut Perk to unlock. So at the very least I suggest you put at least 1 rank into Science! if you intend to go nuts with gun modding.

I posted this in a community thread, but figured I might re-post it here..

As usual for Bethesda, there are some really dumb things with Fallout 4. Most of which probably only affect me because of how I'm playing it and probably no one else ever.

You can't skip the launcher, and it doesn't work with a controller. If you launch the game via Steam In-Home Streaming, you get the launcher full screen, but you can't see the play button, and there's no way to start the game. OK, fine, I'll start it from the PC from now on.

As soon as you use a controller in-game, it completely disables the mouse input. At least in borderless windowed, you can't interact with the game at all with a mouse.

When entering the character's name, I couldn't bring up the Big Picture menu to get keyboard input, so had to walk to the other end of the house to type it in with a keyboard. Despite these controls otherwise having just been disabled.

The Pip Boy companion app couldn't locate my PC, and I have no idea how to make it work.

The first (?) crafting area seems to have no reason to exist as far as the story is concerned. You get there, it's empty and suddenly you know how to make walls and stuff! It's probably fun, sure, but at least have a simple story-related thing (short intro combat, or a small quest with someone who you take over from, or something). It's dumb.

Seems like a Fallout game to me!

Goodbye real world!!

Control mapping will take some getting used to, but I love it so far. Played for about an hour and the second I got out into the wasteland I turned on the radio, and I hear, consecutively, a Bing Crosby song, "Anything Goes" from Fallout 3, and Dion's "The Wanderer".

Immediate GOTY. I really love that they kept music from 3, and Anything Goes was my favorite, so hearing it right as I start the game made for a really nostalgic and happy moment.

Anyone found any binoculars yet?

I don't think that's true. Unless you are talking about benches in the same area. Even then I don't think that is how they work.

Hmmmm OK I am prepared to be proved wrong, but that's how it appeared and that's what I've read elsewhere too.

Id be interested in that as well, I wonder if I could
get locked out of a faction or something if I join one
