I find myself being way better than VATS when I use my pistol manually. I can hit things fairly accurately at a long distance via rooftop with my pistol manually. If I use VATS then I have no chance of hitting and waste ammo.

I'm trying to use the controller but nothing is working . Even killed game pad in the ini and still nothing.....wtf

Just searched google, common problem
One of the earliest Fallout 4 problems is also one of the easiest to fix.

Some PC Fallout 4 users are saying that they’re unable to use their mouse once the main menu pops up. There is no apparent way to click to enter the game and the keyboard won’t do anything to help get past the menu screen.

To fix this problem, unplug any controllers you have plugged in. This should fix this Fallout 4 issue immediately. If it doesn’t try restarting your computer.

So, try restart I guess, since you have unplugged it already. Hope it works

How do I get companions/settlers to equip the gear I give them? I've loaded up my population with great armor and they're insistent on remaining in useless rags.

If anyone hasn't figured it out by now, going to a workshop bench, and there's a button to transfer all junk to the table. Instantly got 150 weight back without having to micromanage that shit. At least there's one good quality of life improvement.

Yuuuuup. Figured that out late as shit.

After watching some PS4 footage I've decided to get it on PS4, at least then i can play it upstairs or down, on PC i'd only be able to play when the kids are not around, which would severely limit my game time.

One bonus of this gen, i decide at work at 8pm i'm getting it, after pissing around for 4 hours trying to add £50 to my PSN account, and because sony's funding site sucks having to buy 2 digital £25 codes from Amazon, i finally get to purchase the game and start downloading to my main PS4.

By the time i get home at 7am it'll all be downloaded and installed and ready for me to play :-)

It really is. I didn't think I'd miss F3, but I sorta do in some aspects.

It's weird. I'm pretty happy with the gameplay mechanics, enemy design, and shooting changes, but yeah the RPG part is so much worse than even F3 that I miss it too.

How often a settlement is attacked by enemies?
Is it worth to invest on defenses? If it gets attacked they destroy what you have builded?

So i waked up early today and played past the intro and after work i played some more..... the game's pretty good! I chose the lady of course and named here sarah after my mass effect shepard, it was neat hearing that name spoken out loud by the robot. I decided to play on hard for my entire playtrough and i almost regretted it once i encountered the feral ghouls, they are basically bullet sponges that you can't run away, i'll power trough anyway. Also the laser musket is good and makes me want to have more ammo for it and heck maybe i'll main laser weapons unlike fallout 3.

Okay, it's been so long since I've played Fallout 3 or NV that I have to ask a couple of dumb questions.

1) How do I use stimpacks?

2) Do my base stats (Str, Char, Per, etc.) ever increase, or is that only via things like bobbleheads and the like?

I was just reading that if you craft something and it uses some but not all of the components of an item it breaks down, the ones not used are actually lost? Is that working as intended because I really don't want to have to break down all my junk manually just to save some stuff from being lost in the process.

So is there a was to deactivate helmets during conversations? It should cvs seeing my character always with the gas mask on.

The conversation system is a real bummer btw. Same for VATS being seemingly less important.

My wife absolutely hates the game and she is a massive roleplayer, to the point of having at least 10 distinct characters in each of the Dragon Age games.

The stupid leveling and points system, the focus on combat, the Mass Effect-style dialog, worse-than-usual Bethesda writing, the streamlining of player stats (apparently no status effects), etc makes this a shooter with RPG elements and not an RPG shooter. In her words "it feels like I'm playing Far Cry 3."

Can you access to your junk from any work shop?

The Local Leader perk (CHA 6) does that, since it creates caravan routes between your different workshops and settlements. Then you have to assign someone to work the supply line.

Otherwise, the junk stored at your various settlements won't be consolidated.

Does anyone know what luck affects in settlements? It seems to go up and down randomly. They have double of settlers worth of food and water, and 140 defense. lol

I can understand this(And hate the dialogue system). That being said the shooter elements are much improved.

Is there still a way to change appearance/gender through console commands? Im not very happy with my current character but im already 10 hours into the game so fuck restarting. I just hope it doesnt break things too much if it works.

There is a doctor in
Diamond city
you can talk to him he should be able to change your appearance.

Can anyone tell me when you "pledge yourself" to a faction or if at all? Just completed a mission Shadow of Steel that made it seem like I could be associated with the horrible brotherhood for good.

Also: Can't report to paladin Dance which is annoying. Need that xp for finishing his mission.

That's a damn shame.

Off-topic, is Aidan a recognized name?

I've barely played much of the story or side quests. I keep running around and scrapping everything figuring out how I'm going to build my settlement. I've spent more time doing that than anything else lol

The people saying "I haven't noticed framerate drops on PS4 at all" have you been inside many buildings yet? The framerate in the actual open world isn't bad at all. But please don't tell me you didn't notice any drops inside many of the different types of buildings (that require a load screen) even if you aren't sensitive to drops it's impossible not to tell.

Ditto. Only played the game about six hours so far, and four of those hours were cleaning up Sanctuary :p

Played for a couple of hours. Great to be back!

Did the
power armor
section at the beginning, then trotted back home and spent far to long on the work benches. I'm loving the customization.

Quick question; is junk shared across ALL workbenches, or just per location? I know I'm only just starting out, but I want to make
Sanctuary
home. If I have to, I'll cart everything back there.

You summarised it for me.

Was it so much to ask for Bethesda's great world buildings, gameplay mechanics, shooting refinements and also want Obsidian's quality of writing, branching story paths, speech checks, etc? Yes, I think it was.

Wow Metacritic user reviews...ouch.

So, how is this game? Probably won't get around till playing till later tonight/tomorrow.

I'm playing it on PC while mt XB1 copy doesn't arrive.

They have changed and added a lot to the game compared to New Vegas, so besides a similar experience I was totally lost when I started. To be honest, 6 hours in and I still am feeling lost in a lot of things!

That said, at first I was a bit disappointed and frustrated. However the more I play the better it becomes, and right now I'm enoying it A LOT! Unfortuntately the game is really kind of a mess in terms of performance, in some areas I get constant 60 frames per second, while in other areas it sometimes suffer quite constant dips below 30. I've locked to 30 fps for a better experience.

I see, thanks. Maybe will get that perk then, seems very useful. Need to find bubblehead to get my charisma to 6 first though.

Just got that m'self. Yeaaaah.

Bethesda has become worse at the RPG part of their games by every game. I don't even want to know what the next Elder Scrolls will look like.

Did you grab the
"You are SPECIAL" book from your house post-apoc? Lets you add +1 to any SPECIAL point pretty much at the start of the game.

(more very early game stuff, though a lot of people may have missed this and may want to see it)
