Variety confirms that was new John Williams music.

Noticed that it shares similarities, tonally & rhythmically with Imperial March. Melody's completely different, obviously.

I had a feeling it was. There was something to it at the start of the TV Spot that reminded me of his work from Harry Potter (mostly Prisoner of Azkaban).

While I agree, I'd rather see them avoid the age old trope where opposite sex main characters simply must fall for each other. I loved how Pacific Rim handled it, and hope this is the same.
