Absolutely loving this game so far, it's familiar and new at the same time and still has that Fallout magic. I love the minute to minute gameplay and how dynamic and random it can be.

One minute I'm making my way to a farm to help deal with some raiders, on the way I meet a man who tries to sell me his Dog, apparently he sells them to make caps, then on the way to the raider hideout, I hear gunfire and see some raiders fighting some scavengers, so I hide in the bush and watch it play out.

The raiders win and I'm just about to jump out and take out the remaining raiders when the raider in front of me explodes and I look around to see 4 super mutants marching down the road, so another battle starts and at this point I back off, as I wasn't strong enough to take on 4 super mutants.

It's just so brilliant, I'm level 14 now and hardly even started the main quest, as everywhere I go, there always seems to be another quest or something interesting to do. I cannot wait to get further into this game.

It's lovely isn't it. Such a beautiful world in Fallout 4. Man oh man.

Love reading stuff like this.

Northeastish of goodneighbor. If you do the pickman gallery quest for hancock you can see the ship across the water to it. It's called the USS constitution and it's a great quest.

ty sir! will go there now

I got a piece of gear that slows down time if I get under 20% health. I don't care how much more resistance other pieces i find give me, I am not getting rid of that piece of armor.

I have the same bonus on a synth leg armour piece. It has saved my ass countless times

I've really enjoyed my time with the game so far. I was worried by all of the negativity popping up around here, but I've fallen into that trap of "one more quest!".

I really don't get the hate behind the new dialogue system, when the fundamental choices are still there.

I also forgot just how much stuff there is to do in Bethesda games. Only tend to play games during the weekend so I can imagine this taking up a lot of my gaming time.

The settlement crafting is also surprisingly deep. Didn't expect it to be so free-form.

Stealth build with pistols and unarmed combat here. 5 in Strength. Should I reload a previous save, forego the unarmed and concentrate on firearms only? Blitz plus Sneak gives me incredible kills on enemies. But somehow I feel that max strength is needed to make unarmed work and I don't want to lose perks.

[Human Error quest spoilers]
After completing the mission and returning to the village, I felt terrible having to kill everyone. Damn. Now I have a big pile of bodies. It was a tough fight too.

No regrets here. Screw these monsters. I gladly killed them, and would kill them again. Torture and abduction is NEVER okay. Murder is. When it's done to torturers and kidnappers in the Wastelands. Easy peasy. That quest enraged me. What fucking morons, these assholes were. Bye bye!

Is anyone playing without hacker/locksmith perks? If so, does it feel like you're missing out? I'm tempted to make a second character to experience some melee action but I'd like to focus on combat heavy perks this time. I'm about 25h into my current campaign and to be honest I'm not quite sure I'm getting enough mileage out of the 6 points I sunk into these two perks.

Yea I see many people are doing the same thing. They aren't using their power armor. I been using my power since I first got it.

I find it strange that i've read some people say this game is too hard, and got power armor just sitting in a dank corner, collecting dust.

I don't use power armor because it is hard to sneak in it. It is loud and clunky. And with my build, I cannot custom fit my shit with stuff like you guys can.

I rip through this game on foot tho. I don't use drugs either. I don't like drugs. It makes me feel dirty just holding them in my inventory.

I don't even sell them. If I accidentally pick them up, I just throw them in a river. Anyone who uses drugs should feel bad.

Apart from the odd chest or protectron terminal, you don't really miss anything.

My skill build sucks and seeing all this power armor hype confirms how badly I fucked up.

I'm really not seeing the infinite fusion cores people are mentioning tho. I have not been using power armor in the game at all and I only have maybe 5 or 6 cores after playing for 30+ hours. I would definitely be out right now if I used the armor more.

You will do.

Can't you scrap power armor parts? I'm not finding that option. Also can't place them in the power-armor workbench thing since I don't have the full set. Is there any reason not to sell it? Have no real interest in using power armor.

It will change fast, just be more careful to loot corpses and interior caches. The first hour had me concerning over ammo on Survival, but after a couple sidequests I now have enough in my stock to last the next 20 hours alone. Ammo is literally everywhere, just scavenge. No special perk needed.
I hope so. I'm moving slow and trying to investigate/loot every little room. Not having much luck finding ammo, especially not the ammo I want (10mm). Guess I just need to push on and get some quests done.

How do I get my companions to use other weapons? Do they need ammo? I got p to equip a laser rifle but she just loves her shitty 10mm so much

I don't know about that...

I took one hit of Jet just to give it a whirl (outside of combat) and I feel like I might need to use it more often.

Cue my character looting every corpse for the slightest trace of the stuff...

Hmm yea good point.

It's just the thought of
wiping out an entire community that stuck with me lol
. But you're right.

Just went mano-y-mano with a Deathclaw in the Glowing Sea. Shit was goddamn glorious.

The Glowing Sea is pretty impressive, especially as you first approach it. Seeing the landscape turn more desolate and charred, and then hearing that geiger counter tick so very slightly...

Wish the storm wouldn't just appear out of nowhere, though. Cloud coverage that thick should be visible halfway across the map.

I like the environmental story telling in this game a lot. Beer bottles scattered all over the ground, a picture frame nearby and a gun with 1 shell on the ground.

Side note: If you give your companion a suit of power armor does it continually need to be given fresh Fusion Cores? Or does it just keep running off of 1? I don't quite have enough to share but I'd like to make Piper a little more durable.

It will just keep running off 1, no charge will deplete.

You'll constantly be repairing it though.

anyone got a good gun that takes .38 rounds and isnt just an upgraded pipe rifle? like some special gun? want to use this ammo with a special gun.

Man this game.. I love it so much.. Although now I cant finish ANY story missions. The game hard crashes during Mass Fusion and I just got to Shadow of Steel and it freezes. Ive tried many times to get passed these spots with no luck... I can over look most of the silly bugs but stuff that makes it so I cant progress in the story is a big no no..

Playing on PS4 btw.

Is there a way to give your companions different armour/outfits? I remember in New Vegas you just put something compatible in their inventory and it was automatic.

I've seen people put bandanas/goggles on their Dogmeats too but I can't figure that either :(

Is there a reason not to use power armor? Apart from role playing purposes.

There is an infinite supply of fusion cores and the combat advantages are incredible. Plus, you can carry more stuff with you, which is important for obvious reasons.

Place something in their inventory and then click Y / Triangle to make them equip it.

so trade with your companion and give them the armor you want them to have, then go to their inventory and go over the items and press triangle (for ps4, whatever the equivalent is for the xbox or pc, or just look on the bottom bar as you go over the items). This should equip that item on the companion. Can also be done to settlers.

Took me a while to realise all these monkey toys were actually alarm traps.

I wish I could disassemble can traps and shotgun traps without picking up the components

I love these little scenes, you can tell they had a lot of fun setting them up.

This x10000000

You can shoot the heads off the monkeys too ;)

Thankyou <3

For anyone lost preston as an companion forever due to bug, some life savior found a solution on steamforum. If you are on console though, just wait for bethesda to patch this after 1 year.

I've had this issue with him not giving the companion dialogue after Taking Independence too, I believe I might have just found a console fix for it.

Open console
Select Preston
removefac 00075D56

Faction 00075D56 is apparently some kind of artificial state faction which is used to temporarily block characters from being recruited as companions, like during a quest or something. I think Bethesda forgot to remove him from it after Taking Independence finishes.

Removing him from the faction via console seems to restore full companion functionality. As with everything related to the console, use with caution and make sure to make a separate save before trying.

I just don't like using it. I collect sets, but never use it.

I like running around with the upgraded Silver Shroud set, looks cool as fuck.

Maaaaaan, I have played almost none of this and I just had some Twitter bot reply to one of my tweets by telling me the end of the main story.

survival is already too easy, no need for power armor to lower the difficulty even more.
