Are the locations only raider/ ghoul held places?

It was a raider place the first time I cleared it with the named raider at the end. Cleared it the first time and opened all the doors and lockpicks and safes. This second time around, no named raider (still raiders though) the special notes I picked up to the named raider were again lootable (they were just on a table), the doors were open, but the safe and terminals were hackable again. Like I said, every item was respawned exactly the same spot they were the first time including the mini nuke and the fat man. The only other thing that did not respawn was the the fusion core (although the machine it was hooked up to looked like the fusion core was in it powering it).

Bought a PS4 last night and had pre-ordered Fallout 4 along with a friend about a month ago, haha.

Really loved the start, but I'm stuck in that building with the raiders after the first town. It's like a maze in there. :(

Anyone have any cool suggestions to turn Red Rocket into a base? I'm planning to build something on the roof but not sure what type of building to create.

I find myself using way more drugs in this then the previous games. The game can be legit hard at times but with drugs the encounters can be a breeze. Psycho + Med x ftw

I got a piece of gear that slows down time if I get under 20% health. I don't care how much more resistance other pieces i find give me, I am not getting rid of that piece of armor.

So survival mode is pretty brutal huh? I'm running around with like 20-30 rounds of ammo at most, at level 8 every encounter with enemies seem like a fight that should be end-game stuff in tems of difficulty. Raiders with automated turrets, super mutants, 20 ghouls rushing me, power-armor Raiders...

I even unlocked the scavenger perk to hopefully find more ammo but not much difference yet.

I find myself staying in sanctuary building things more and more. The few quests I have are sending me miles away into heavily fortified enemy locations. Just now I had to bail myself out with a mini-nuke.

Is Diamond City where the game starts picking up in terms of getting quests? I'm trying to make it there but it seems difficult this early on.

It will change fast, just be more careful to loot corpses and interior caches. The first hour had me concerning over ammo on Survival, but after a couple sidequests I now have enough in my stock to last the next 20 hours alone. Ammo is literally everywhere, just scavenge. No special perk needed.

I think raider/ ghoul locations get taken over by new ones after a while. I have cleared Supa Dupa Mart twice and Corvega 3 times.

Biggest news of the day for me. I kind of like this and I kind of don't. Would wish they change where the enemies respawn or give different loot.

How long are the faction questlines generally?
Nearing the end of the game and I want to spend some time and try to complete both the Brotherhood and Railroad lines.

Don't know if its a bug or an ability of the companion I have but for a while every time I switched weapon he switched to the same weapon ...which came in really handy when I switched to a missile launcher to take out a deathclaw.

12 hours in and this is how I feel about the game entirely.

Combat especially is really awful(at least on Survival diff.). I was hoping for a tactical challenge, not "Point-blank pray 'n spray while backpeddling!" Way too many engagements that are pure attrition as enemies close distance with insane speeds(and are mostly melee focused). I can barely even switch to a proper close quarters weapon using the quick menu by the time many of these things are clipping through my character model and hacking away(from my initial prone 'stealth' hit). The only real upgrade to AI from FO3 is that Super Mutants and Raiders love tossing grenades/molotovs with the same impunity as Call of Duty now... (well, the MGS-esque stealth awareness states work better than before at least).

Maybe I need to embrace the stupidity of it all and just lower it down a bit(like the gifs I see of dumb violence). I fear I am stuck between just blowing everything to hell with ease or dealing with the turgid and occasionally frustrating mess that is Survival. As an RPG, this is just the worst.

At least the exploration and quests still have me somewhat engaged and curious, but Bethesda has given us better in that department too from what I have seen and done so far.

I put it on hard. The game is clunky as fuck and does not lend it self well on higher difficulties. Survival is just a mess.

So now I'm at the point where my smaller settlements keep getting attacked, which led me to finally start trying to build up settlements just so it would stop happening. Except I immediately hit a brick wall because resources at the Workshop aren't shared across Settlements which technically makes sense, but is absolutely infuriating as I don't want to have to ferry god knows how many items back and forth between the 8 or so settlements I have now to get them built up. I also just stash everything in the workshop and don't manually scrap it since there's no real reason to as far as I can tell (since it will automatically break stuff down to create stuff, unless that's only for armor/weapon stuff?) so I'd have to manually scroll through hundreds of entries to figure out what breaks down into what and so forth. Fucking great. I never ever "cheat" or do things like this, but if I was playing on PC I'd just find a console command to make all of my resources shared, or some other way to stop my settlements from being attacked.

I may seriously just kill every person at all of my settlements. God damn the settlement stuff fucking sucks. And I still can't do a lot of things with settlements because I went low Charisma so I don't have Local Leader.

Get the Leader level 2 perk then you can share. You send a settler out to make a trade route.

Just had an hilarious experience on Curtain Call.
Got to the top of the tower and assumed that
Strong was a bad guy ready to jump out, as I could see him through the cell window with Rex Goodman. So I tried to game it by shooting him with my minigun before I unlocked the cell.

This meant he went hostile and so as well as fighting all of the other super mutants who spawned, I was having to down Strong as well to stop him from shooting me. So there was me, Strong, Rex and Codsworth all in the elevator on the way down, as well as all the other super mutants in the building, me and Codsworth having to attack Strong in between elevator stoppages.

Made it out my the skin of my teeth with the help of a couple Nuka Cola Quantums after my minigun ran out of ammo. It wasn't til I got the "Strong is now available to be your companion" that I realised what I'd done.

Is there a penalty for not acting when a settlement is under attack? Because all of that seriously doesn't seem worth the hassle.

Guys, just a quick question.

Is repair gone from the game? I don't see any durability and I'm picking every weapon on the floor because I'm used to it, is there any point to have several rifles and whatnot?

When you get a new settlement, spend five minutes walking the perimeter and scrapping all the trees and stumps and fallen logs, you'll get a ton of wood. I definitely have completely deconstructed a couple settlements to fuel my bigger construction projects, though, that'll happen.

I've been doing that. I have like 7 settlements too. And I'm constantly out of wood.

Damn. I haven't used my armor once after the forced bit.

You are missing out, my dude. I'd romance my power armor if I could. Lover's Embrace all day 'erry day.

You can scrap them for parts to build better weapons.

Also, power armor requires repairs.

That's the plan, but I'm going to have to spend my next 2 levels (I'm level 24 right now) to get the needed Charisma points to even get Local Leader, then I'll need 2 more levels to put 2 levels into that.

Also my understanding is the trade route thing only works between two settlements, not all of them?

Is there a penalty for not acting when a settlement is under attack? Because all of that seriously doesn't seem worth the hassle.

No idea, but it's an annoyance for me because even if I deselect the attack from my active quests after a few load screens it pops back up again as active with the marker pointing to it. Not the end of the world obviously (none of this is) but it's just an annoyance.

Repairing is gone, but you should still collect them. They can be scrapped or you can sell them.

Psychojet: when the thing in front of you just needs killing.

Northeastish of goodneighbor. If you do the pickman gallery quest for hancock you can see the ship across the water to it. It's called the USS constitution and it's a great quest.

Well it was my lucky day, because this place has 2 ways to get into. First time I went through the front (because I did not know there was a second way in) and on my way I had to clear the entrance of raiders, one of which had power armor. This second time I went through the back, did everything I said, came out the front, and wouldn't you just know it, raiders again and another one with power armor (and missing the same ones the first one was missing). Great day for me.

yeah, that's gone

Scrap the shit ones at the weapons bench.

for everything except power armour as far as I can see
Damn this thread moves fast. :D Thanks.

I liked those repair skills in the last games, but I remember having three handguns and waiting for one to wear out until it needed a fix.

Assaultrons are really scary.

I was actually caught in a loop once where I quick saved while fighting an assaultron, and every time I loaded he would immediately shoot me with his laser(even though when I quick saved I wasnt even in his line of sight).

Only way I got out was by opening my pip boy and fast travelling. Which was weird because you cant fast travel in combat?

Stupid assaultron

Yea I see many people are doing the same thing. They aren't using their power armor. I been using my power since I first got it.

I find it strange that i've read some people say this game is too hard, and got power armor just sitting in a dank corner, collecting dust.

The game isn't even hard and I am playing on Very Hard. I have been waiting for hte situation where I absolutely have to get the power armor but nothing has come up yet. My sledgehammer is 2stronk.

Well, just started the game, found dogmeat, ran into role rats and ordered dog meat to stay so I could go a bit further by myself, nevertheless, walked for a few meters, regretting my decision and turned to find it, but it's anywhere! Am I screwed? Have I already lost my companion?

The game is great on hard. Been dying a lot and I love it.

[Human Error quest spoilers]
After completing the mission and returning to the village, I felt terrible having to kill everyone. Damn. Now I have a big pile of bodies. It was a tough fight too.

I feel like in the 6 hours of gameplay I haven't seen many friendly NPCs. Hopefully this picks up.

Random question...

I bought a PS4 the other day, made a PSN account and played 4-5 hours of Fallout, unlocking 5 or so Trophies.

Then I noticed I spelled my PSN wrong.

Is there any way I can play my Fallout 4 savefile on a new PSN? If I do that, will I miss out on my previously unlocked Trophies?

I'm thinking I gotta restart from scratch.
Anyone know?

Having Nick Valentine with me
while the leader of the BoS gave his speech about Synth's aboard the Prydwyn
was pretty amusing.

I've started getting pretty deep into one of the factions questlines:
just cleared fort strong with the brotherhod

is there a point of no return? Like, should I do other factions stuff too before I get too deep on this one?

Holy crap, just found G

Absolutely loving this game so far, it's familiar and new at the same time and still has that Fallout magic. I love the minute to minute gameplay and how dynamic and random it can be.

One minute I'm making my way to a farm to help deal with some raiders, on the way I meet a man who tries to sell me his Dog, apparently he sells them to make caps, then on the way to the raider hideout, I hear gunfire and see some raiders fighting some scavengers, so I hide in the bush and watch it play out.

The raiders win and I'm just about to jump out and take out the remaining raiders when the raider in front of me explodes and I look around to see 4 super mutants marching down the road, so another battle starts and at this point I back off, as I wasn't strong enough to take on 4 super mutants.

It's just so brilliant, I'm level 14 now and hardly even started the main quest, as everywhere I go, there always seems to be another quest or something interesting to do. I cannot wait to get further into this game.
