I thought those screens looked familiar, then I looked up some videos and realized I actually had seen footage of Strania years ago. Didn't even realize it was a G.rev game until now.

More SHMUPs coming to PC is always a good thing. And so soon after Mushihimesama, too.

Any mention if Side Vower is included, or if it's DLC? It's definitely the better mode.

EDIT

Nevermind, it says it's included right on the steam page.

A Google Translate of the blog says:

"Price is 1,480 yen in Japanese yen, released immediately after is 20 percent off as a launch discount!"

1480 Japanese Yen equals
11.9994 US Dollar

So I figure $15 US.

Strania is a neat modern take on '90s Compile with some of the better polygonal visuals of any shmup, and the Side Vower campaign is pretty much a whole new game.

I think some people might get the impression that all the recent PC shmups have been bullet hell games but that's far from the case, so if you aren't interested in the likes of Mushihimesama you'd do well to give Strania a look.

This isn't a bullet hell right?
Will grab it when it's up.
I generally suck at shmups but I still enjoy playing them :3

Not really, no. I've seen people compare it to Radiant Silvergun due to the weapon system (not to mention the visuals which were worked on by Hiroshi Iuchi, the Ikaruga/Silvergun guy) but it's simpler, straightforward game, kinda like a modern take on MUSHA.

The STGWeekly video gives a good overview of the game and how it works, including the Side Vower campaign: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CklwLkOinvs

Good lord...if Ginga Force hits PC...my 360 is just going to be a small jrpg backlog box.

But if this means PC will be the home for JRPGs and STGs well i'm all for it.

Yeah, it's bizarre seeing the 360's massive shmup library slowly dwindling. And it's cool that stuff like Strania that never really got its due getting a second chance.

I never quite wrapped my head around which weapons to pick up for what situations and got absolutely wrecked halfway through the game.

Maybe now I can learn from more competent people figuring it out!

I've read about Ginga Force on PC... Maybe on GAF?
I hope this happens. GingaForce is awesome

I thought there was talks of Ginga Force after Eschatos was released and that there would be a Wonder Pack so people could buy both games. Kind of like how they did it for Delta and XIIZEAL with the Shooting Love pack on STEAM. Maybe I'm wrong.

Well thats how I got to play Eschatos and Ginga on 360, so i dont see why they wouldnt eventually.

G.rev to release "Strania - The Stella Machina -" on Steam
18. NOVEMBER - GREV_*****
G.rev Ltd. announced today that it will release "Strania - The Stella Machina -" on Steam on November 26, 2015 (PST).

With more than 100 million active users globally, Steam is considered to be the largest digital distribution platform for PC gaming. G.rev is pleased to gain participation in the platform as a publisher and is planning to self-publish its games previously released to other platforms as well as new titles in the future.

The company believes this will be a valuable opportunity to reach out to overseas fans who have expressed strong demand for G.rev’s archive of games and to expand its customer base.

G.rev has pinned "Strania - The Stella Machina -" as its first title on Steam. The robot shoot ‘em up was originally published for the Xbox360 worldwide and Japanese arcades in 2011. Distribution on Steam is planned to begin on November 26, 2015 (PST).

About Strania - The Stella Machina

This vertically scrolling robot shoot ‘em up is an ode to the nostalgia of 1980s arcade games. Featuring a multi-faceted weapons system and dramatic visual effects, Strania was well-received for its stylistic retro graphics and modernized game system.

I hope G.rev will go on to publish their other titles as implied in this announcement.

Nice! It's a great shooter that I hope they're clearing the way for with X1 BC, too.

I'm not sure why this would make a difference to X1 BC. X1 BC is emulation of the game essentially. For PC they would have to take a different approach and actually put in a fair bit more work.

I'm taking their relatively surprising decision to put the work into a PC release as a positive sign that they've already given MS the permission to add it to the BC list, as that's all that's been said is needed. I mean, technically, there seems to be no reason many already localized Japanese games on X360 haven't been, at least, announced for X1 BC, yet many if not most haven't...including Strania. There will likely be titles that don't get on the BC list for no reason other than their rights owner and/or publisher has not taken the step of giving the thumbs up to MS. That G.rev is active and bringing it to Steam internationally is a good sign for their potential interest in bringing it forward on other platforms. It's just a matter of intent rather than technical feasibility.

YOOOOOOOOO I LOVE THIS GAME

One of my favorite XBLA games, and will instabuy on Steam. Just in time for my birthday, too. Thanks, G.Rev!

The PC release says nothing about XB1 BC and the biggest impediment to getting that game on XB1 is MS giving a shit, which isn't likely.

Of course, if the PC version ends up blowing up then things might be different...

Another shmup?
