Oh so this and promethues 2 might be happening? Great >.> Hasn't this franchise suffered enough?

Keep Scott far away from this series. It's bad enough how went on for decades about bringing the series back to its cosmic horror roots and going into the derelicts past only to proceed to get sloshed on wine, destroy the lore/mythology he built, betrayed Giger(again), and completely fuck up the space jockeys.

Blomkamps reboot/fanwank doesn't sound much better and comes off as yet another retread.

Joss Whedon's impeccable mind shant be questioned.

I just want to know more about the lore of Walmart. Seriously, what does a galactic supermarket even look like? "Shop-pa-planet"? "planet Walmart"? Would that even have its own planet? Would it be terraformed or dirt cheap masks for everyone?
"Walmart, exciting shopping by asphyxiation. Walmart, shopping better worlds."

I NEED TO KNOW!

also, I'm actually cool with a sequel to Prometheus since the damage is already done and preventing Blomkamp from making AvP3 kind of has my vote. He needs a proper screenwriter like Damon Lindelof needs a restraining order from writing.

What was the story of the Engineers? All I got was that there was a star chart scribbled in caves that points to a planet devoted to a weapons manufacturing plant that the Engineers once woken up want nothing to do with. I missed any clues as to why they seeded Earth or left the star charts.

If Prometheus' sequel follows through with Shaw and David going to the Engineer's home world, there will be a lot of opportunity to explore the race. Will we get answers? Maybe. More teases and questions? Likely.

The most crucial thing is that Prometheus' sequel has a good script. Match those heady ideas and ambitions with good writing. Put key story details in the movie itself instead of in supplementary marketing material and collector's edition Blu-rays. Spelling everything out isn't necessary for a movie to be good, but it's undeniable that Prometheus and its marketing teased the audience too much that there was going to be immediate payoff. Alien was very open-ended with its otherworldly mysteries, but it doesn't set out with a character like Shaw on a search for answers, so yeah, I get it. Prom 2 is going to have to respond to that to win over people.

He's just getting fox to make him personal toys now, isn't he.

"Well, it's not gonna be a movie ever, but at least I get ADI to make me some stuff I can ebay for a GRIP later."

So this project is still going after Ridley Scott decided that Prometheus 2 was going to be an actual Alien film?

It's part of Fox's expanded Alien universe. You bet they want to do something with this franchise and probably have a number of films on the calendar, rather than just the next two Prometheus films.

This whole project confuses me, I feel like Neil is trying to trick fans into thinking its happening, hoping to force fox to greenlight it.

Again, that happened back in February:

http://variety.com/2015/film/news/n...-fox-with-director-neill-blomkamp-1201436551/

Which also said it was being produced through Scott's company, and Ridley confirmed in a recent interview it's coming after Prometheus 2.

Which was what was to be expected.

So what does this mean for Neill Blomkamp’s sequel? There had been speculation that Alien: Paradise Lost might mean that it wouldn’t get made, but Sir Ridley has scotched those rumours. “I’m producing it,” he reiterated. “The design is for it to go out next, after this. This will go out first. It’s more associated with Ripley, it’s a completely different angle, it’s more of a sequel. I’m coming in from the back end.”

Gearbox did this too. I think they used some bullshit excuse about making a more realistic one in the game. I can't find the video they put up of the real one, but here are pics. http://kotaku.com/5906854/what-an-aliens-pulse-rifle-looks-like-in-the-real-world

Edit: Forgot to add that the Gearbox one could fire live ammo though. Nice try, Neil. If you gonna cash in on the situation, you might as well go for the real thing.

Seems like the earliest release year for this would be 2018 now, with Covenant now officially set for October 2017, if it doesn't get completely bullied out of existence by the prequels. Lots of time to let this Aliens gestate or to be forgotten.

I like Ripley, but I'll be happy to refocus attention around Newt as the protagonist. She'll essentially be a new character with the time jump. I'd want Ripley and Hicks to "pass the torch" quickly.

It would keep the franchise alive and the studios would make money, because that’s what the bottom line is now: money. That’s why you end up seeing 'Terminator' 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 10 and 'The Fast And Furious' 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Michael Biehn is a smart, smart man.

Man, this is confusing. Just when I decided to watch Alien 3:Assembly cut.
Glad to see the project still going but I hope neither Ridley or Blomkamp fuck things up.

"They’re planning on bringing me and Newt back and at this point Newt will be around twenty-seven years old," Biehn said. "I know that every actress in Hollywood is going to want to play this one, it’s really a passing of the torch between Sigourney and this younger actress who would play Newt.

This is what I want.

Erase everything after "Aliens".

This remind me of this weird ass Expanded Universe Alien book, where Newt had Sex with Hicks.

No, you're thinking of the comics. And Newt didn't fuck Hicks, she fell in love with another Marine who

turns out to be an Android.

READ Aliens Omnibus Volume 1. Those comics are a direct followup to Aliens (and they came out way before Alien 3) and are centered on the adventures of Hicks and New and eventually Ripley.

I love Alien 3 (Assembly Cut) too. Fuck Resurrection.

Dark Horse is releasing a 30th anniversary hardcover of the original version of the Aliens mini-series in April. This would see the names Newt, Hicks and Ripley in their proper place, instead of the alternate names utilized after Alien 3 came out.
