I gotta be honest, I came in thinking I'd be 100% on board the Cap Train, but that trailer man.. I'm thinking Team Tony now. I am sure the movie will be awesome, but really the motivation for the Civil War being Bucky and ONLY Bucky is ... tenuous at best. I mean seriously, Cap should be able to put his feelings aside, and see how it must look from the outside... this dude was a freaking assassin. It's only right that they would want to bring him in.
I don't think it's only about Bucky. They're pushing that angle to present the movie as Cap 3 instead of Avengers 2.5.

Cap's issue is that it sounds like they won't even bother to bring him in alive, which Bucky doesn't deserve. Bucky would be Cap's lifelong friend and WWII vet that lived only to suffer for 70 years and get killed by the country he already 'died' to defend.

I don't think it's *only* Bucky. Registration is probably a big part of it as well. If you notice how the teams shake out Natasha seems to side with Tony (in TWS she decided it was best to air out SHIELDs secrets) while Clint sides with Cap (in Age of Ultron his family was only kept safe due to the extra secrecy Fury afforded him). I'm sure we'll see the group split along similar lines. Like War Machine siding with Tony despite being an Avenger now... Etc..

The hyper anal analysis of the Bucky/Cap/Tony fight needs to die. Many amazing fight sequences look like a choreographed dance, and we're only seeing a snippet of it. Of all the unrealistic things that happen in these movies...

I know the registration act was a big part of the comics, but has it been confirmed Cap 3 will deal with that as well?

And as for "secrecy" (SPOILERS FOR CAP 3)
why would Spider-Man join Tony then?

The power to make everyone look like chumps

He once put the fucking Silver Surfer in an armbar.

Black Panther is basically the ace title / position in Wakanda, and thanks to some comic events that I'm not familiar with he's "King of the Dead," meaning he has
the powers, knowledge, strength, etc. of every Panther before him. Not sure if the MCU version will have that yet, though.

He has contingency plans on how to deal with every conceivable threat in the comics, even Galactus.

One of the best strategist and millitary minds in the marvel U one of the best administrators not named Doom and less authoritarian similar strength to Cap or other enhanced individuals STR way past a normal human superhuman endurance , agility, speed and senses access to extremely high levels of technology Educated all across the world in the best schools master of several martial arts vibranium based weapons and armor that are near invulnerable save for maybe..Odin and up genius level intellect top 10 in teh marvel U but his real skill is being able to be a student of everything and everyone.

Also, the initial pitch for his character was "Dr. Doom but good."

So, yeah.

Color me fucking impressed. My hype for this movie and the stand alone one for BP is at maximum

When was that? I only ever remember him dodging a tank shell.

He was shot out of the air somewhere over the Middle East. It's when he saved all those civilians. By the way, I think even that tank operator must have been stunned that he actually made that shot.

EDIT: Maybe it's a different scene than the civilian rescue. I can't really remember.

It's not registration in the sense of the comic version but one of accountability. I've got the distinct feeling that they want The Avengers and any powered individuals to be logged by and under the command of the Gov't (probably a new World Council or something along those lines). This would thematically work better than the identities would for the MCU because Cap would immediately be resistant due to what happened when he was working for SHIELD.

As for your spoiler:
I don't know if Spidey would join Tony or not. I don't know what role, if any, he would actually play in this movie. Because even if he shows up, he doesn't need to pick a side.

uhhh...

Unless u mean when he was shot down.
I'll admit I forgot he dodged that, but I counter with

200ft Helicarrier turbine hurts a bit more than peak human punches

It's not a sticking point for me as I'm not an Iron man fanboy, just the fact that he can't stand their and shrug off the human punches is laughable compared to the shit he's been through

Same thing with captain america running around defeating spec ops because no one will ever think to aim anywhere but his shield when fighting him

I'll still see it in theaters regardless

My understanding of IM suits' durability:

IM1= reinforced, can take a serious hit
IM2= same as before, suitcase armor is less reinforced b/c of smaller assembling parts
Avengers= same as IM1
IM3= all suits shittily made in a sleepless haste, little reinforcement for same reason as suitcase armor
AoU= opening armor improves on IM3 suits, hulkbuster has reinforcement/size/arc reactors, final suit is reinforced (?) (we never see him actually get into it)

Not sure yet where his Civil War suit falls in the spectrum, but either way they have ways to make Cap & Bucky stand a chance (i.e. suit-disabling gimmick, Tony is emotionally conflicted, Cap just keeps getting stronger with age, etc)

People get way too caught up in making sure comic stuff is consistent. It's totally not, and for usually good, justified narrative reasons. Hell, Cap's shield has changed properties dozens of times. Sometimes it absorbs all vibrations like its "supposed to" (when he fell from the elevator in TWS), sometimes not (when he blocks a grenade in TWS and gets flown back). Sometimes bullets stop in their path (TFA when Peggy shoots at him) sometimes it reflects bullets (chaingun in TWS). It doesn't matter. The narrative is way more important than some power-level or property

I know people think Panther is on Tony's side but I think he's the one that took out Rhodey. His suit looks like it's been ripped apart. As always, Panther is on his own side.

- Deadpool (Fox Studios/Marvel Comics – February 12, 2016)
- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Warner Brothers/DC Comics – March 25, 2016)
- Captain America: Civil War (Marvel Studios – May 6, 2016)
- X-Men: Apocalypse (Fox Studios/Marvel Comics – May 27, 2016)
- Suicide Squad (Warner Brothers/DC Comics – August 5, 2016)
- Gambit (Fox Studios/Marvel Comics – October 7, 2016) - most likely delayed
- Doctor Strange (Marvel Studios – November 4, 2016)

2016 will be the true test for comicbook superhero genre fatigue.

The dates in bold are going to be a potential problem for Captain America. Everything else gets a decent amount of breathing room but Captain America. It has around 2 and a half weeks before X-men drops and potentially kills it's momentum and possibly takes away the movie news cycle. Deadpool, BvS and Suicide get a lot of breathing room. DP and BvS has maybe just over a month without competition. SS has potentially 2 months. Strange has the entire Fall to itself as well assuming Gambit is delayed and depending where the next Star Wars movie drops. BvS moving away from Captain America was smart.

They want to kill his best friend of course Cap is gonna fight and frankly there really isn't a better reason in the world to go rogue. Bucky grew up with him that's his kin you go to war for kin.

The shock on Tony's face could be not only "my friend got taken down" but "my friend got taken down by my supposed ally who's got Vibranium claws".

My guess if anyone on Cap's team stops Panther it's Wanda or Ant-Man. Maybe Wanda can do the mind stuff and we get glimpses into Panther's past/motivation.

Ahh yes and no. I mean yeah I can see that point of view.. but at the same time, Caps been through some serious end of the world shit with Tony and the Avengers... and you'd think that would trump some back alley brawls that he and Bucky got in to. But hey.. they did go to war together.. so they got that whole Brothers in arms things going on.

Yeah, the Russo's said in the Winter Soldier commentary that, specifically with the shield, they changed stuff as they needed to fit the story. They understand that the shield is supposed to absorb vibrations but, as with the comics, they aren't slaves to consistency with the powers.

This trailer was so meh, so disappointing ...

I love Marvel Studios movies but this trailer doesn't make me want to see the film
Only the last scene is good

The worst is the photography, it's insipid and it's offensive !
I'm not that kind of guy who bases his opinion on a film with blablabla like photography/etc... but it looks like a TV show ...

Hope it will change once in theater

Bucky is essentially his brother.

I love my siblings.

If it came down to it, I would probably ruin some deep, lifelong friendships if it meant protecting them.

They didn't just go to war together. They grew up together and know each other better than anyone else, possibly themselves.

They're family.

You look after family. Especially when they're not responsible for their actions and some assholes want them dead anyway.

In the trailer he is seen trying to do it to Stark. I don't think they would have him do it twice. Rhodey'a armor looks like it's been sliced or ripped. Of course, who knows until it's out.

Maybe Rhodey's reactor exploded? It kind of looks like it might have overloaded or blown out of the armor.

Do you have any examples of what show this looks like?

I was thinking that was also a explanation as well seeing as the metal seems folded out but there was also another rip going down the side of his stomach area that that wouldn't explain.

It looks like what Wanda did to Ultron at the end. He probably got taken out by Scarlet Witch.
