Why are you so boring? (to Tabris)

I feel the opposite. I can play with other friends and familys kid and enjoy it, but after an hour or 2 when you get tired of them you can just get up and jet.

With your own kid, once they annoy you, you are stuck, for the rest of your life.

You're not annoyed with your own kids in the same way.

I don't think some of you get the point, or are deflecting.

These are people that had these same kind of interests, and now don't do much and don't have much to talk about anymore after becoming new parents.

Yeah, when this thread was younger I was going to rip into you for your opinions on what was boring or not, but if the people were like you prior I can see why you'd dislike the change so I resisted.

I'd go with 'becoming a parent changes people' rather than 'becoming a parent makes people boring' though, since everyone has a different opinion of what is boring. Some single folks might get along more well with married people vs people like you. Your wording is why people are piling on.

Perspectives change. Getting married and having kids is not a death sentence to an interesting life. If anything I think the stereotypical having kids in the suburbs is one of the most bland and unfulfilling things you can do. OP's frame of reference is just narrow.

I don't know any married couple in the 20-35 age group where I look at them and think, yea they are happy with their life. Not that I dont think they dont love their child if they have one, but they just look miserable.

I know, but it feels like I'm a really shitty friend and uncle, but I just can't help it. Any time I'm stuck in an area with a screaming baby its just flat out torture.
Don't worry. Once you get enough exposure and lose hearing at those frequencies, you'll be fine!

Yeah, it's great to play with other people's kids, all while being able to walk away if they're being obnoxious.

Some kids can be very difficult to manage, parental love or no. Being around them all the time can be very draining for the parents.

Source: I work with kids and see this more often than I'd like

What is this nonsense?

How many pumpkin spice lattes do you drink every day, Tabris?

Pumpkin spice lattes are gross to me. I like frappuccinos though. This is my go to coffee place:

hey tabris do you have a leica?

you seem like the kind of dude who would just to leave it on display

Nope. I don't leave things out on display except electronics, keep things organized and clean. You can see here, nothing but controllers are visible:

Plus I would never own a camera. Don't like carrying anything but my phone, my credit card holder, and my keys. I've reduced my keys I carry with a bluetooth lock on my door which I open with my phone. And once ApplePay is in Canada, I can get rid of the credit cards.

I have a friend, he 30, in a relationship for 5 years now, and he is RELUCTANTLY planning on getting married next year.

He hates the idea of it, and also having children and moving to the suburbs. But he tells me what choice do I have?

He makes decent money, but I think if he made alot more he wouldnt even entertain the idea.

Yeah this just screams "I'm getting divorced in a couple years" to me.

Intentionally leaving your comfort zone behind is an extremely important part of life experience and the expansion of your overall perspective. You intrinsically hate it until it forces you to grow as a person.

And there's a world of experiences between "I go to tourist hot spots" and "I wander off into the woods and die".

My best friends and his wife are two the happiest people I know. They've been married for 3 years now. They dating for like 5 years before that. She's having a kid and I have never seen two people so happy about life.

I honestly can't tell if you are using this thread to brag, or just simply don't know how else to be

for the record most folks would just answer, and not need links or galleries to make the point

What the fuck man. This is one of the worst things I've ever seen, and you post it like it's some dope piece of cred.

Besides... you live so close to Revolver, probably the best coffee shop in the city, yet you give us this.

I like Prado cafe's coffee. But I'm also not much of a coffee person.

Barcelona chair? Is that where you put the friends you don't like? ;b

In my mind "no doubt"

Like, this is why the global divorce rate is so high.

There's NOTHING WRONG with ending a long term relationship if you aren't comfortable with committing at the level your partner wants you too. In fact you're doing them tremendous harm by not telling them and leaving before you make that commitment when you don't want too.

Marriage isn't "the next step" it's just a step. You don't have to get married if you're happy together and don't want too.

I...don't get your argument, Tabris.

Aren't you just another tourist? I'm still in college, so your somewhat playboy lifestyle has checklist things that I would like to enjoy one day, but at the end of the day, they're just that: checklist things.

Nothing you've stated is universally exciting to everyone.

He is happy with her, he just doesnt want to get married and definitely dont want to have kids. She does.

Let me tell you this story. In the summer he text me at night and said "Yo, Im gonna ask her to marry me" and I went on to congratulate him and everything and asked when hes going to pop the question? He told me during our 2 week vacation in Asia over Thanksgiving (which is NOW!!!). Ok then, I was truly happy for him, and thought he was changing as a person.

So I see him during Halloween and asked him, yo do you have the ring yet and everything? He said, nah Im gonna wait until May 2016 during our next vacation. He had about 4 months since he told me he was going to marry her, and did nothing with it. Didn't even look for a ring. At this rate Im doubting the May date. Lol.

Hilarious all the salt in here by a bunch of people who don't have enough money to actually do interesting things like Tabris, so they try to dismiss his life as boring. It's called cognitive dissonance.

Figures GAF would be full of poor people hating on those who are actually doing something with their lives. Just judging by this thread: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=1134755. Barely anyone making 6 figures on here.

It's true that people's perspective change when they get kids. The problem is that the kid is only interesting to the kid's parents and literally nobody else, while many people would find Tabris's travels interesting. I've never heard any new parents call their new lives "exciting".

It's why birth rates are plummeting in developed, wealthy nations with high standards of living. Those of us with money have better things to do with our time.

yes, we're all dirty poors. you got us.

extra points for using cognitive dissonance to point out cognitive dissonance. masterful

This is still going eh. Strange thread, it sounds like, per some posters, since I've been married for almost 8 years and have two kids, I should be miserable and resent the freedom of those not tied down. Yet for all my posts (mostly garbage), I've yet to complain about any of it. Or post in the depression thread. Maybe I'm just steeped in denial.

If this isn't a joke post....yuck.

If i made money like Tabris, I would do almost exactly like he does. Though slightly less bars, and more traveling.

Tabris only likes to project the image of someone who makes a lot of money. I know 23 year old engineers straight out of college who make more than he does. Even when not correcting for the difference between Canadian and US dollars.

He reminds me of a friend of mine whose "killer stock pick" would jump by $500 in a couple of days, so he'd go celebrate by getting a $3,000 table at XS.

Do we know how much he makes?

LOL this is the most textbook example of someone actually needing to check their privilege I think I'v ever seen.

News flash, most people are going to make middle 5 figure incomes, that's the way wealth in this country is distributed. It's how capitalism works. "Get rich scrubs" is such a blatantly childish and idiotic way to look at life.

Living is about more than money and materialist crap.

I once flew to NYC from Montreal, a 45 minute flight, so I could have dinner at Masa and flew back that same day.

Its a cool experience, but putting it on par with raising a person its on a much lower level. To me at least.

At the end of the day, you do what makes you happy.

Also, replica Eames lounge? The legit white+ash one has a white enamel base. Rove Concepts, maybe, since they're based in Vancouver? They match the aesthetic but it's not nearly as comfortable as the real thing.
