Batman v Superman - New Official Trailer

It's weird that this trailer is so badly edited since Syder usually cuts pretty good trailers. The ones for Man of Steel and Watchmen were great.

People actually feel spoiled by the trailer, oh lawd. It's a comic book team-up movie. They fight, resolve, then team up against greater threat.

See, I like the Lex they're going for, I'm hoping he's still at least a bit grounded, so far he's hamming it up -- which still might be fun. But when they first cast Eisenberg I thought we'd get the cold, calculating, manipulative Eisenberg from The Social Network, to be fair I'm not super familiar with the Luthor character, so I had no reason to have that expectation.

I still have absolutely no idea how Wonder Woman works into this -- and neither does the movie judged off that last scene, that was really strange. I am a little disappointed that even the trailers are now downplaying the versus aspects, and moving straight into the partnership. I thought if you were going to call the movie Batman v Superman, you'd at least commit to that showdown, even if it was just for this movie.

Do you know I forgot who Eisenberg's character was supposed to be?

Throughout the trailer I was thinking, "Who is this guy?".

I guessed riddler in the end.

But I'll be damned if he reminded me that he was Lex Luthor.

A tad hilarious nonetheless.

Sorry, I cannot fathom this thread, when I look at social media. I just see the negativity around this movie here. Don't get me wrong, y'all of course entitled to your opinion to find this shitty, but the discrepancy on the reception of this trailer between NeoGAF and other social media is baffling to me.

GAF has shitted on this movie literally every thread from the start. That's why the bingo card was created, same shit over and over.

Tbf i had doubts when Goyer was involved but his shit was rewritten years ago. And imo Zack is still the king of CG/action. All the actions beats they shown so far look amazing.

Out of interest, have you followed the film at all, maybe seen prior trailers? Wonder Woman's inclusion has been well-known for months. I agree that Doomsday shouldn't have been shown full-on like that, there goes the 'holy shit' moment when you see the film.

Nah I didn't really follow the movie outside maybe the teaser that was shown a few months ago? I didn't keep up who was being cast in this either nor kept up with any news outside the teaser/trailer. I really didn't know that Wonder Woman and Doomsday were going to be in this. I seriously just thought this movie was going to be Batman and Superman fighting it out and eventually forming up the Justice League out of some necessity that was going to be explained in the movie.

What if the journey is good? A twist or surprise don't make these movies, to me at least.

I want to see how they execute the story and stage the action set pieces. I am personally fine knowing the plot points reveled so far. Of course it's easy to connect the dots here.

We shall see. It could suck. Looks good to me though. The vibe is different than the other trailers though. I wonder what the final product will be like.

I am totally a journey guy. I dont mind spoilers at all. You could tell me how FF15 or Force Awakens ends right now and I'd still play/watch them. But what has this franchise(this version of superman at least)/director/studio done to earn my trust that the journey will indeed be worth it? With the information from the trailer (and knowing there's future films in the works) I'm fairly confident I can piece together how everything will go. If you told me right now Kylo Ren dies, I'd still have no idea how we got there because the info released so far is so sparse.

I knew Bman and Sman were gonna fight and I knew that neither would die, but I didn't know how they'd handle the fact that neither die. Now I know. I don't mean they spoiled it for me, a trailer is not a spoiler. The just didn't leave me intrigued. I know it will end in some convenient to be continued in 9 different spinoffs a la marvel fanservice style because they'll clearly bring in more Justice League characters. I dunno. The first trailer was just better at giving me a tease.

the official community thread says the same thing; I dunno I thought people were highish on the OG trailer? I just think were all so super hero fatigued, and then this trailer was actively awful. I cant believe were going back to the CGI monster at the end.

Yep. Instead of the slow-burn buildup ala MCU, they're gonna cram everyone into this one film. We could and should have at least had Wonder woman and Flash films in the last 5 years leading up to this point. They already fudged up Lantern.

i think thats bingo folks

That look so bad, I was fucking hype for the first trailer but this one is terrible, they gave the entire plot, the acting beside Affleck looks terrible especially Cavill and Cadot and who's playing Joker ? oh sorry I mean Lex, no I mean this crazy teenager with too much hair ?...

I won't talk about Zed being Doomsday, it's terrible at fan point but could be interesting if handle right, my deflated by a ton.

After seeing the Civil War trailer, this was simply awful by comparison.

At the very least, I'm impressed by the the visuals here. For the most part, some composting looks a little rough, as does the cgi, but it's not necessarily final. I'm actually digging the color pallet, the scenes with Batman in the desert(?) look spectacular, as does a lot of the conflicts between the two leads in the rain there, it looks great. Whereas while I liked the Civil War trailer, I couldn't help but think it looked a little subdued and bland -- not necessarily in the more simplistic stylized shots, like the final shot of a Cap and Bucky fighting Tony. But a lot of the shots at the airport, and the settings for the fights are very, very basic. I thought the same about The Winter Soldier trailers, but considering the grounded tone, and the nation security allusions to reality, I thought it was appropriate. Here I really like the look they're going for, much more than Man of Steel, I wonder if it's the same cinematographer?

Batman goes to Gotham and he hates Superman and Superman hates Batman and they don't like each other and Lex Luthor throws a party and Batman and Superman meet and then they have a big fight but then Lex Luthor makes Doomsday and then Wonder Woman shows up and they all fight Doomsday

That is the plot to this movie.
That's what the trailers told you, sure.

I like a lot of what I saw in the trailer. At the same time I can't shake the feeling that something is off about the tone and direction. Like they had to change things during the delay. I'm also not seeing the evil genius in Lex Luthor here, though I do like the return of his mad scientist aspect - I always thought he worked best that way, like in Red Son.

A nice little tease of Wonder Woman. And really, I think a female protagonist is in about as good of hands as one can get in an action film headed by Snyder. though how much she's going to factor into this is still up in the air.

I wish that more movies would be like the star wars trailers. I think there was too much in this trailer

Star Wars is Star Wars, a 40 years old space opera, a part of pop-culture.
And this secret marketing is due to "no release in 10 years" and "sequel of OT"

There is no film which can have marketing like Star Wars ... even Batman v Superman has to be promoted !

Huh. I guess an argument could be made that audiences have already waited long enough for Marvel so many if DC tried the same tactic people just wouldn't bother.

So we get Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Flash in this one? Or do more characters pop up?

That trailer deflated the hype gained from the previous trailer. They really shouldn't have veered away from the whole ... you know, Batman vs Superman thing, the thing people want to see and is the title of the fricken movie.

I knew that at some point they were going to join forces, but why show it in the trailers?

It's got that overstuffed feeling for me now. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Doomsday. Reminds me of Spiderman 3 where there were too many things happening to really flesh any of them out in a standard film.

Eh, Wonder Woman seems like the only really extraneous part to me. I think this trailer, wonky editing aside, kind of makes clear how everyone else connects and weaves into each other's stories.

The problem with Spider-Man 3 (among other things) wasn't that it has three villains, but that it tried to have three villains with three separate and unrelated storylines that were awkwardly crammed together at the end.

This just further proves to me that Jesse Eisenberg can only do one role and has no range. I thought this would be completely different for him, but he's literally the same damn person. The roast battle between bruce/clark was amazing though lol.

I dunno. Im looking on other message boards and the reaction is similar to here. Pretty fucking negative with just about everyone agreeing that the previous trailer and teaser were so much better.

The bad music, cringeworthy dialogue, flat jokes and whatnot are pretty standard complaints with the thoughts on Doomsday being mixed.

It's a letdown after Star Wars and Civil War (and even the previous BvS trailers) hyped everyone into the stratosphere.

Doomday is the worst villain ever - no personality, no interesting powers or abilities, no emotional connection to the heroes, just a big load of damage to deal and hitpoints to wear down.

It's like having Carnage as the villain in a Spiderman movie, comic book fans cream over them because it allows them to stretch out six issues where every panel is fighting but it's just fucking boring.
