I actually kind of like Eisenberg here. But he really doesn't seem to be have much in common with any other iteration of Luther.

btw. Is that his natural hair or just an awful wig?

I wasn't a huge fan of MoS, but I can enjoy it for what it is now. I almost didn't watch the trailer based off the comments in here, but I gave in and I actually liked it. I had no intention of seeing this in the theater, but now I think I might. The only thing I wish the trailer left out was the WW reveal. I'm hoping for more of that in the movie.

Doomsday's genesis is plainly shown... He doesn't appear out of nowhere.

I don't mean that he just appeared out of thin air. I mean that his character all of a sudden is randomly inserted into the trailer at the end.

Imagine Dwayne Johnson playing this version of Lex. Instantly likeable, the general population would trust him when he starts talking down on Superman etc.

I'd love to be wrong about Eisenberg/this whole movie.

I don't think Dwayne could sell condescending as well as Jesse could though, for me that's lex's defining character trait is that he think's he's so much better than everyone else. It's also hard to hate the Rock, besides him being Black Adam and all.

How is it random? Everyone claims that the trailer shows the whole movie, it builds up to Doomsday

Lex - "Hey Superman, what does the symbol on your chest stand for?"

Superman - "It means--"

Lex - "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR SYMBOL MEANS"

Seriously though, Dwayne as a version of DCAU business Lex would be amazing and I could see him pulling it off really well. The only real hangup here is whether or not you want a Lex Luthor that is going to dwarf Superman and Batman in terms of swole-ness.

Apparently any slightly eccentric comic book villain is clearly trying to be The Joker. Hey did you guys see The Joker on Jessica Jones?

"Hi I'm Lex Luger, billionaire genius and also twice the size of Superman"

Then we all know that the heroes will team up and beat doomsday and Lex will get arrested.

End of movie, justice league formed.

What are you talking about? This film is going to challenge your very perspective on the super hero genre by adding layers upon layers of depth that a plebeian such as yourself will never be able to comprehend.

I haven't seen MoS, for context. But good god was that one awful trailer. Tonally all over the place and the "dun dun dun dun" music and herky jerky editing made it feel more like a parody of a trailer than an actual one.

Oh my goodness. If he wasn't already Black Adam, he'd be amazing as Lex.

That WB spoiled Doomsday and the terrible attempts at comedy throughout the trailer (especially the ending) makes me think that WB doesn't have faith in the film.

I'm fully expecting a Sony post-ASM2 panic mode meltdown by the studio if this thing under-performs.

If it underperforms, it'll be too late to do that much in the way of course correction on SS or WW. That's the risk of being so aggressive with a cinematic universe right out of the gate.

To everyone harping on the fact that Batman is wielding a "gun"...Is there your first piece of Batman media?

Because...

You mean the Joker named Lex Luthor?

nah man. people can shit on it all they want but gene hackman and kevin spacey were hilarious (not to mention just really good actors)

Really? He just seems like a lame and tame version of Nolan joker .

I've never cared for the character, not saying anything against those actors, I just find him boring. I'll take this one over that based on what I've seen.

Definitely does not look good imo. Most I can say for Eisenberg is that he will be entertaining as Luthor. Also hated what they did for Doomsday.

Yes, but both are laser (eyes and mouth), so I guess this is Doomsday are some weird hybrid of Doomsday and Bizzaro.

Eh, I don't know. Has there ever been an iteration of Doomsday that was ever created by humanity? He's always had an origin on Krypton in some form. And a young, not even bald yet Luthor creates a Superman killer out of nowhere in this?
Still think it's a weird prototype Bizzaro until WB release a synopsis saying otherwise.

Out of nowhere? He has Zod's corpse

I miss Michael Rosenbaum. I legitimately think that if the lines were done in the style of his Lex (by him of course), they would come off much better.

I hope what we saw in this trailer isn't indicative of what Lex will be like throughout the movie.

Because the entire theme of the trailer (and the title of the movie) is Batman v. Superman. That's what they build up. Then, out of nowhere, "Oh wait--Lex changes everything!" and they team up. It was just a sudden tone change.

Don't be so defensive.

It's interesting that it looks like they're essentially leveling an entire city, again.

I know MoS had a lot of hate because they're was so much destruction, yet so little apprehension about it. Hopefully that's taken into effect here.

I'm of the mind that the large scale city leveling scene takes place in the "Nightmare Batman" sequence and any destruction from the Doomsday fight takes place in the still under construction, and thus largely deserted, ground zero of Metropolis.
