Based on the ff7 port I'm thinking everything on ps4 is required to have full support of the modern PlayStation ecosystem I.e trophies, remote play, upscaled so it's not blurry as hell on hdtvs etc so we won't get classics like we did on previous consoles - I'm fine with that personally but I can understand why some people are disappointed.

We don't know for sure, but Shuhei's comments have not been positive on the matter.
The GTA games are on PS3 i know for sure, and twisted metal black.
Rogue Galaxy and the Dark Cloud games are definitely not on PS3

OH FUCK I never thought about Spider-Man 2! It'll probably happen with Activision's licensing being as weird as it is, but I would be all over it up-res'd and up-framerate'd. One of my favourite games ever; I own two PS2 discs because I'm afraid that I'll wear one of them out one day

If the rights are still in the correct place I wouldnt be shocked to see a lot of those.
PS1 and PS2 classics on PS3 where always a bit of a dumbing ground for random licenced games.

Guess I should not be but I'm surprised at the issues with the price. I mean I could understand if they were just taking PS2 games throwing them up on the store and slapping $15 on to them and calling it a day but it sounds like they are actually putting some work into these games in the process of bringing them over.
I'm def going to buy Rogue Galaxy and then depending on my experience with that (I want to see how the up rendering translates) I will most likely pick up Dark Cloud and War of the Monsters.
I'm not sure what their plans are for what they are going to bring but some games id like to see would include

Maaaaybe San Andreas and War of the Monsters, although PS2 era GTA is hard to go back to.
Will buy Persona 3 FES, Nocturne and any other Atlus games if/when they're added. Same goes for NISA and XSEED.

how's the up-res done, purely by the emu? what about the trophies?
They are not strictly emulating the hardware, but what it tries to do.
Thus rendering of texture can be handled by GCN texture units and there is no need to emulate everything TEX does internally to get it done with a CPU.
Basic idea for more resolution. (same as with any machine.)
Rendering area is made bigger and co-ordinates of rendered polygons are fitted accordingly. (if needed)
This gives you a nice high resolution version of the same scene.
Basic idea for throphies is to flag a memory location within emulation for a change and link ps4 throphy for it.

Expecting Disc support is really stupid because they are 10-15 years old games (not like 5-6 years of XBox360 which is still supported) due to licensing issues. Also they are adding very few selected PS2 games with improvements, Trophies and Steaming/SharePlay features which clearly proves that its not easy for them to apply these changes easily to several games at once like emulation, so they are doing some work in order to get these working and its just not emulation. I hope they allow existing users of PS2 classics in PS3 for an upgrade fee to get the cross buy at least even though PS2 classics list in PS3 was very short.
