Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Chunk 1 (CyberConnect2, UE4) Trailer, "PS4 Console Debut"

Looks like FF15 with a FF7 skin. Hype deflated, I wanted a more traditional battle system. It would have been better if they just came out with a new game rather than this remake.

Sure this is just gonna get buried in the next page again, but that's not an ATB bar.

It fills up as Cloud hits things, and depletes as he uses flashy moves. Then there's HP/MP/LIMIT going rightwards from that.

And I agree with Aeana, regardless, the UI looks placeholder
and aimed square at the Versus crowd tbqh

Oh whoops. Yeah. But it's still command based. :D

Wow... That fucking negativity set out pretty quickly.

Well FUCK YOU guys, this looks AMAZING. Hope to never see you in any future FFVII remake threads.

This has character switching? Immediately superior to anything Final Fantasy XV's combat system will ever be.

Really, it looks amazing and everything I ever wanted. Like exactly what I dreamed up in my head.

This is definitely not AC Cloud. His eyes are way bigger for a start. He looks more 'anime' like FFVII design, imo.

Wedge and Jessie also have an anime look to their designs. It's not dark and gritty. So I can totally see the cross dressing scenes etc still working.

Yep. Still not sure whether or not this is some command based / realtime in-between or full on KH style, but the character switching is the one thing I was hoping they'd retain, so they can do what they want from here on out, as far as I'm concerned.

I still want the ability system to remain roughly similar - Materia was really the first FF battle system that allowed some degree of 'programming' your party members before FFXII (I remember loading Red XIII up with like 18 Counterattack materia and that was his entire deal, for example). It'll be interesting to see how that plays out - I want to feel like I'm affecting the way party members act even when I'm not directly controlling them.

FFXII was a bold leap in that direction but not, I think, sufficiently refined or user-friendly. Let's see FFVII do better.

That was...
AMAZING

It seems they're definitely taking cues from FF15. I don't mind that though. It looks fun to play.

Also, I love Barret's look

Pretty, but not holding out much hope for the gameplay. Unless they're going full Dragon's Dogma or Dark Souls I generally expect the usual JRPG real-time awfulness.

I couldn't really follow what was going on in the combat to say whether I liked it or not, so we'll see.

That voice acting was pretty awful, though.

The moment I saw that it appears to be a kingdom hearts style action rpg is the exact moment I stopped caring about this game at all.

Oh well, maybe after another 18 or so years we'll get a reremake that actually at least tries to keep it more like the original. Shame.
If it came out as turn based. A lot more people would stop caring.

So glad SE is smart enough to ignore an insignificant niche.

I never really followed Versus XIII stuff.

What do you people mean when this game reminds them of Versus specifically?

Game looks awfully expensive too. Midget looks amazingly alive.

RIP Don Corneo scenario. Doesn't really match the atmosphere.

FF15 is just a branch off of the game Nomura and co were already making though. This looks similar to what they were trying to do originally with Versus, especially the character switching.

Character switching, tone, atmosphere. Stuff like that. Its almost like a hybrid system.

Man... they really seem to be doing this right. It looks great. I'm glad it's different from the original. That game already exists, and I can play it if I want. A reinterpretation is more interesting to me.

I'm guessing that bar under the name is the limit break guage, not ATB.

Also notice how it's depleted as he's doing his jump attack. (Braver?)

Fucking loved it. voices were good, character models were good, I knew battles were changing so they looked fine (material system BETTER survive this). music was great of course, and I thought all the scenes they showed were VERY faithful to the original. a lot of that looked exactly how I was hoping it to, and even the scenario seems largely the same. excite!

He just looks younger and thinner. SE's art department is doing a great job.

I could only shake my head when they showed combat. I knew it would be very different from the original but... not like this.

I'm interested in this. command based action combat is interesting as the graphics. story is great, so...

Versus XIII had Command Menu battle system with switchable characters and adittional mechanics like a TPS mode for a shooter character.

All of which is consist here.
