Fan Favorite PS2 Games Launching on PS4 Tomorrow

I think DC1 and RG (which came after DC2) might imply that they're doing a proper remaster of DC2. At least I hope that's the case.

It'd be dreamy of they announced DC2 remaster and then DC3. Sigh.

I'm curious, would you recommend Dark Cloud 1 over it? I know 2 is very good but I'm very curious about 1. Does it play very similar to a late PS1 JRPG game? I watched a vid of it and that's the impression I'm getting.

Potatohead has the right idea. It definitely has it's share of problems (the combat generally and the rate of weapon degradation in particular are not the best), but I find the game is far more memorable because of the Georama town building mechanic. If you like collecting and fixing things, and enjoy laying out the town in your own way while also following some strict guidelines, the sense of satisfaction after pulling it off is something that I've not really experienced since Dark Cloud 2 (which is better in every way, but we're talking about the first game.)

Story isn't great, characters are few, combat is janky and unrefined...but when all the pieces come together, it's a really memorable game that reaches some great highs. Rogue Galaxy, besides its aesthetics, doesn't approach those same highs, I think. I would say that I don't think it feels like a PS1 JRPG, though. I remember how new and next-gen it seemed to me when it launched, and that was a selling point. There's no way the Georama system could work on PS1, I don't think. That was a real case of next-gen gaming at the turning point of the millennium. Anyway, of that list, I know I'm buying Dark Cloud tonight, for sure.

.hack games please.

I have a feeling I'm one of the few people who actually want this, so it probably won't happen.

I might be in the minority but I have no problems with the pricepoint for something that is 1080p with trophies, remote play and shareplay. That's a good bit of additional value even if you already own the Classics version or the old disc version.

Yea I don't get the love this game is getting. Maybe I'll enjoy it better now, but I found it pretty average.

Rogue Galaxy...It's Level 5 and SCE Japan made game...(thought it was Tri-Ace for a while there),less people played it because it came out at the end of the PS2 cycle,it's a long game and I guess it's hard to find a physical copy for those who never played it and still love JRPG's...

I want to try it,it looks like fun.

Some people kill me so you can't play ps2 games the way you want to play them on a ps4 so your not gonna buy it I'm sorry but that's a poor excuse and more pathetic then them trophy hunters you obviously hate

Bottom line some of you are taking this way to seriously don't like the price? Don't buy them don't like the line up? Again don't buy them it's that simple Sony is a company that wants to make money end of story like I said a few pages back if you think for one second that if ms was winning bc wouldn't cost something your high it's business adding new features cost man hours do you think this stuff adds itself? I mean come on its coming sense smdh
This is some Japanese Culture Expert level of crazy.

I don't support the shit policies of companies when they take a bad faith approach, and that's true of any company. I support policies I appreciate, and I'll hold a grudge if I feel something is just a cynical cash grab. Period.

I avoid DLC that's not free or extremely full featured and developed after the game goes gold. On principle I will never pay for on disc DLC, ever. I won't pay to upgrade Wii VC games to Wii U VC. I've stopped supporting new eShop purchases on Wii U because I don't want to "clean the fridge" or shell out for an HDD that can't be partitioned and used for anything else just because Nintendo was too shortsighted to have reasonable storage capacity out of the box. I won't buy Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water digital because it wasn't printed for retail, and I won't buy Pikmin 3 digital because Nintendo seems to think it's better to strangle supply then make new sales.

I decided I wouldn't buy Xbox One after Microsoft announced their draconian DRM policies. Yeah, I know they changed them after taking a beating, but they already revealed their intentions and what they think of their consumers. I wouldn't buy a 360 or PS3 until after numerous revisions because Microsoft and Sony pushed unreliable hardware out. And believe me, I learned my lesson after PS1 and PS2. I will never buy a Sony console at launch again.

I won't buy a New 3DS XL, and I won't buy some bullshit Animal Crossing bundle because nitwits at NoA decided to announce 2 weeks before launch that parity with every other region in the world is too risky for their largest market because ______? "More choices"? I don't see a reason not to feel like my intelligence is insulted when a company, you know, insults my intelligence.

I actually do what people always advocate in these threads, abstractly, but without ever seemingly considering it a realistic possibility- I put my money where my mouth is, or withhold it as the case might be. But because I feel incredulous towards a company that I've sunk considerable money into over the decades pulling a baldly cynical move people think I'm kooky I guess. I don't tell anyone else they have to believe what I do, to react how I do, or to boycott or support what I do. I might not think highly of someone who eats shit and asks for seconds, but I'm not going to take their spoon away from them.

And in case there's any confusion, recrimination isn't not the totality of how I approach a gaming purchase, I'm venting specifically here because Sony's PS2 policy on PS4 is some grade A bullshit. When it's appropriate I pre-order games I care about, and particularly go out of my way for smaller developers/publishers I feel go out on a limb with unique software. I'll support a kickstarter based on a great vision or the pedigree of creators I respect. I'll buy a second copy of a cult game I really like as a present for someone else. Like I said, I'm a conscientious consumer. But I guess calling bullshit what it is and sprinkling in a few expletives because of the utter transparency of the situation means lol, salt, and hurr hurr Japanese Culture Expert.

It wouldn't be a big deal to me if there was a discount for those who purchased the PS3 version. I would have gladly paid $5 to upgrade.

Step away from the ledge, brah.

Eh, he is right on most counts there. Well, I could see a small surcharge being on with Wii to Wii U since you could still play those games in Wii mode.

The new policy toward PS2 classics and lack of any transfer capability and/or discount is bs.

I've seen 8 GMT... so two hours? PSN store updates are weird

That they are.

if I still had my PS2 or PS3 i'd probably be outraged but...while I empathize with people who are annoyed, I've never played a PS2 gen GTA, or Dark Cloud and never beat Rogue Galaxy...so it's a kinda cool way in.

There is nothing wrong with the offer in general. While I might think pricing is too high, it's up to Sony and Publishers to charge what they feel works. They will lower it if nobody buys or people only buy during sales.

What's bullshit is them cutting off PS2 classics everyone bought on PSN. Even some sort of an upgrade program would have been a better deal. The way Nintendo handled it with Wii to Wii U was fair.

Yeah. I don't think I bought much but it'd be nice. Like I have SMT 3 via US PSN and I think Persona 3 FES, if they ever join I'd prefer to pay say £5 than £10-15 but eh. The system can change.

Kind of want to get Dark Cloud. I haven't played it since PS2 launch and only played a couple hours. Game reminded me of Soul Blazer so I might have to.

GTA pricing would be fair if it was the trilogy in a bundle but hmm it's been a while since I played those games curiosity might get the better of me. I'm curious on how much work they've put in exactly.

The PC versions of GTA have horrendous controller support so I may actually bite.

Only War of the Monsters and Twisted Metal: Black don't have plats.

Dark Cloud an easy plat?

Will twisted metal black have online? Otherwise I see no reason to buy it, I don't couch co op any more

Part of me doubts it, but these aren't quite just Iso dumps so...I guess there's a chance. When they go up on PSN check the game info and it should mention the amount of players.

Are the GTA soundtracks untouched?

The PS2 Classics versions had the songs removed, although if you got them before they got removed from the PC version then I think San Andreas had all the songs. These are gonna have the missing songs.

There hasn't been a version of Vice City with every song since the first PS2 release though if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, the Lionel Richie song didn't make it to other versions.

I forgot that.

Do I have to repurchase my copy of San Andreas? I bought the PS2 Classics version on the PlayStation Store for the PS3 a year or two ago.

I was thinking the same thing.
