fuuuuuck me, what a time to be ALIVE.

The trinity live action on the screen. I have waited forever for this.

His desire is to defeat a literal god because of his perceived paranoia. That's fine, but his reasoning of the method of execution is up in the air. He is in fact taking Supes head on, but why unless you're on a suicide mission or have a huge ego? At least TDKR Bats knows Supes will hold back on him. Batfleck doesn't have that luxury or at least he doesn't know it.

Who knows? Maybe WW tells him her vision of the future if he doesn't interfere, or he gambles on Supes holding himself back, or Lex is the greatest salesman in the world, so maybe it will all make sense why he's fighting Supes man-to-god.

The trailer shows Superman doing heroic stuff and Batman mocking the Daily Planet for their puff pieces so I guess that's something to indicate Batfleck would know that Supes isn't going to try to kill him.

WW stoking the flames would be interesting though.

Go on......

I wish Superman looked a bit more interested, instead he looks like me when I'm sober and people are dancing near me

I kind of like that they're a bit awkward in that "Oh, so this is happening, we're on the same side now, I guess, yeah, okay" kind of way.

Only Wonder Woman looks like she knows what's up and she's there to clean up their mess.

I think Superman is just a bit confused. Batman is all business, he just slipped right into the new situation, while the less stoic Supes needs a moment to adjust.

Well, WW is a warrior and is ready to stomp some ass. Batman is likely thinking he's too old for this shit. Superman is like, "I could just stand here and end this with my heat vision. Lois is waiting."

Speaking of which, I hope Superman says, "THIS ENDS NOW!" at the climax of the fight. I would mark the fuck out in the theater.

I like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Justice League, and DC. I have literally been reading DC longer than most people posting on GAF have been alive. I am a huge fan of Batman, having read every issue of Batman and Detective, pre-nu52, and most after. I have been waiting a long time for a Justice League movie.

The most recent trailer is horrible. And not just slightly bad, but actively pushing people who want to like it away levels of bad. Some of the scenes are just terrible. I'm a big fan of Jesse Eisenberg in some stuff, but he's just horrible here. Not funny, not creepy, just awkward. Also, in half the scenes Affleck looks constipated.

Maybe the movie will be better. I certainly hope so.

I love Batman. The Dark Knight is my favorite movie, and I'm in the middle of reading The Dark Knight Returns. Great book! Never read it before, loving it so far.

Anyway, Batman is one of the few super heroes I really like. I'll see a Marvel movie because they're guaranteed good times, but Batman is my go-to heroes. I thought the first two trailers for this movie were convincing enough, but after Man of Steel I was pretty convinced that this movie wasn't going to be anything hot. However, I still wanted to see it on principal of being a huge fan of the Bat.

HOWEVER. This trailer... jesus christ. There's like no reason to see the movie anymore! It basically confirmed my fears for the movie... bloated action sequences with toppling buildings, ugly aesthetic, wayyy too much shit going on between Batman & Superman fighting, Lex, Wonder Woman, Doomsday... fuck. This movie is gonna be a mess, very little can save it for me. I don't wanna see it anymore :(

Something doesn't add up here...

I think we mostly agree the Thor movies are ass.

...I hope we all agree the Thor movies are ass.
And Iron Man 2
I don't get why Iron Man 2 gets more shit than 3. IM3 is really one of the worst waste of times i've ever encountered in a movie. It was like a test from Marvel to see what level of fuckery they could get away with, and it managed to pass with flying colors.
Not only that, Bruce is puruing her until Crlak interrupts him.

Nice catch. Bruce is just trying to get to Diana this whole scene. lol

What are these terrible scenes everyone keeps talking about? I've watched the trailer a couple more times and I'm just not seeing anything one can define as terrible. Especially "push you away as far as possible from the movie" terrible.

Some of y'all really sound like you expect waaaaay too much out of a superhero action movie.

Only speaking for myself here, but Lex's first appearance in the trailer is jarring as hell, especially when it interrupted an otherwise tense stare-down.

The trailer has certainly grown on me, I just feel like WB designed this trailer for the MCU audience, which I certainly don't mean as a derogatory term.

Dude don't try to understand what GAF classifies as terrible.

Anwyay, I wanted to ask about that Batman scene with the flying things, why do some people think it's Wonder Woman's vision. In the comics, has she been known to have visions?

did this thread talk about the parademons in batman's dream yet

at length

it's fake supes leading darkseid's earth conquering force a la earth 2 world's end

i mean, the editing is a bit janky and it gives away a bit too much, and yes, tries to put the film in a completely different light compared to the other trailers, but "actively pushing people who want to like it away levels of bad?" that's just a bit hyperbolic, don't you think?

There are amazons who have the ability to glimpse into the future. Besides, there is no way this movie could go that extreme with Superman being some tyrannical god-figure in this movie and still have the story come back to some base status quo for the rest of the DC movies.

A warzone.

If they are in fact Parademons, it changes things. That sequence becomes less of a "dream/nightmare" and more of a vision of some sort. It's pretty interesting if that's the case. Is it still Bruce's? Is it another character's (Diana?).

Yeah if those are Parademons, then my "Bruce is having a paranoid dream" theory just got tossed out the window. Okay new theory. That scene is a vision that Diana has where, in the future, Darkseid takes control of Superman ala Superman the Animated Series and then invades the Earth. I know, I know, that's a crazy theory but we know so little about this movie (yes little) that almost anything could be the right answer.

Just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. I honestly have no idea what that sequence is. It was plausible to assume a nightmare Batman was having and then parademons show up killing that theory. Anybody's guess now.

JaeRoar once again on the verge of tears. This must be incredible for people who grew up with the shows and comics

I love watching these. Especially the mashups when done well. JaeRoar is always fun to watch because he loses his shit everytime. That reaction at Doomsday is amazing. I know it will come off as stupid or over the top to some but even if I didn't physically react like that that was me on the inside.

I think that part is handled well. We get the point with the exchange of words and that stare-down. Something had to break it up since it wouldn't make much sense for Bruce and Clark to go any further in that setting and in their very first meeting.

didn't notice the above before. flashed by so quickly didn't even see it. guess that's supes standing in some sort of massive explosion.

i was thinking more of what happened to earth 2 in new 52--darkseid invades and the trinity is wiped out but darkseid is held back, as far as the citizens of earth know. in reality supes is taken captive while darkseid pulls back to regroup with a new general leading them...

after a new kryptonian is found (val zod) and a resistance makes a final push, it turns out that the supes leading the forces is not the real superman

4011537-the+real+one+2.png

they later find the real superman in an apocalypis base of operations, and find that they were using his blood to make clones like the above. he ends up dying after being pulled away from the machines

now, why do i think it's the above rather than just superman being brainwashed? because the above is more relevant to the comics, is a more complex and well written story (brainwashing supes would be too comic-y for what the dccu is supposed to be, or at least what it seems to be) and they have two fucking movies to fill (JL pt 1 and JL pt 2). if we change the ending of this to not have another kryptonian and instead they find real supes and he survives after being pulled off of the cloning machine, that'd make for a pretty good blockbuster movie.

Just watched it.

When this movie was announced, I was not optimistic, for a lot of reasons. This most recent trailer does not look good. I want this to be a good movie but really don't think it's going to be... Looks cool at least.

Batman: Okay, this is weird, but okay.
Wonder Woman: I'mma fuck you up breh
Superman: Anyone know a good shawarma place?

Superman: I'm tired. My feet hurt. It's hot. I wanna go home. I bet Ma made lasagna.
Batman: This gun probably doesn't do shit. And y'all owe me a new car. And plane.
Wonder Woman (thinking): You were right mother. Men really ain't shit.

Hell, MCU spoilers
Civil War interview confirmed the Tony/Cap/Bucky fight is the third act. That doesn't really ruin the movie for me. They also showed how the teams were split up in the trailer. Just about the only thing they didn't spoil was Spidey who is most likely a minor cameo. This doesn't really devalue the movie for me because that's how I expected it to end, just like how I expected BvS to end with a teamup, because of the obvious incoming Justice League movie.

That's not the same case here, because the conclusion for the act 3 in Civil War is still a blur unlike Batman v Superman.

Especially when Baron Zemo role in the movie is an unknown now if what you said turns out to be true. And the fate of Cap and Winter Soldier can go in many way. They can either get arrested, or be on the run. And how are they going to handle the transition of the relationship between Tony and Cap by the end of act 3 if Baron Zemo isn't the act 3 antagonist to unite both team etc.

Whereas in Batman v Superman act 3 is a traditional good vs evil fight.

Man people went ape shit over Doomsday. I had the opposite reaction.

Well not that I didn't expect Doomsday but I didn't expect they would show him so early. Enjoyed the first half of the trailer but once it went into Lex trying to play Frankenstein I kinda lost some hype.

that shit deflated my hype immensely. not to mention the corny vibe of the whole thing. it was like a big 180 from the comic-con trailer.

also the view-count for this doesn't seem to be nearly as large as the comic con trailers for the dc movies. response to this trailer seems tepid (though this might be me projecting too)

I hate the part where Batman looks at Supes and WW and says "You know, we really are the Dawn of Justice."

Movie also looks like a launch PS4 game with those effects (fire, rain, dust) in every single shot. Still excited though. Hoping Snyder can do something refreshing.

Well that was a much better trailer and it debuted with Comic Con (plus it was the first full BvS trailer). More consistent tone, more character motivation focused. It set up the movie without giving too much away and it was still focusing mainly on the Batman v Superman aspect of it.

This trailer felt like a mini mash up of the main arcs of the movie into 3 minutes with some mediocre editing and trailer music.

I saw the Collider video review of the trailer and they were spot on... they loved the Batman v Superman aspect of the trailer but didn't like the Dawn of Justice aspect of it.

I wonder if they'll try to get one more Synder-cut trailer out before the movie launches. They obviously wanted this one out to go in front of TFA, but the response has clearly not been what they wanted. Maybe a small, 1-2 minute trailer to play during the Super Bowl.

That's what I'm leaning towards. It being Diana's vision/a vision shown to Bruce regarding Darkseid + Apokalips.

Earth-2 for JL 1+2 would be something insane. I dunno if we'd get it this soon, though.

Lots of youtubers I've seen all say that doomsday was the exact moment the trailer turned them off.

While that would be crazy (in a good way) the Earth-2 storyline might be too much for the GA to handle.

i think you hear it here

reminds me of goldenthal's music for the schumacher batman movies (that's not a bad thing imo)

or it could just be a random piece of music from the soundtrack, we'll see soon enough.
Thanks, never saw that.

Definitely Batman related. That part of it sounds more atmospheric than a character theme though. Some surveying Gotham from rooftops type stuff.

Here is what I think the difference is.

Based on the BvS trailer, baring some crazy twist, which is unlikely to happen considering the fact that this is only the second movie in the DCCU, we know the general track of the entire plot. Clark and Bruce meet, Lex is there, Clark and Bruce fight, Lex goes crazy, Doomsday comes, Clark and Bruce fight him, get help from Wonder Woman, save the day. The end.

In contrast, with Civil War, this is the 13th movie in the MCU, and most likely the LAST movie that will feature Captain America and Iron Man before Infinity War. We have seen nothing of Zemo and Crossbone's true involvement in the plot, we have no idea how the fight between Cap and Iron Man plays out, who loses, if anyone dies, who betrays who, etc. We have no indication how this battle will actually end.
Imagine if the Civil War trailer was edited to have the same beats as the BvS trailer.

The Civil War trailer builds up the tension between Cap and Tony, just like the regular trailer is cut. It shows the Cap/Bucky vs Tony fight while it interlaces Armin Zola narrating over the fight saying, "We'll pit them against each other; hero against hero." Instead of ending on that, we see a montage of Zemo wrecking shit with Zola saying, "...and when they've beaten each other, that's when we'll reveal the true face of HYDRA!"

Cut to Zemo being unmasked to reveal the Red Skull!

Red Skull is about to HYDRA laser cannon a beat up Cap and Tony (from fighting each other presumably) when suddenly...

*twip*

A web pulls the gun at the last second, causing Red Skull to shoot harmlessly into the sky and nuke a whole city block where the heroes aren't standing.

Camera pans up to reveal Spider-Man!

Steve: "He with you?"

Tony: "I thought he was with you"

The camera zooms in on the trio with Spidey standing front and center between Cap and Tony.
