Yakuza 5 releasing DECEMBER 8, 2015

Yes, Yakuza 5. The issue was released on December 2nd. They were especially complaining about the textures.

I'd be interested in reading that review. I've put in 130+ hours on the Japanese retail version of 5 and the textures aren't really pretty on that one. Plenty of parts I can think of where there was low res textures, with some text pretty unreadable (mainly small posters in the windows of shops etc.). That doesn't really sound like a new problem with the game, I'll have to compare my two copies after I get the game downloaded on Tuesday.

Gathering impressions from import threads now. If anyone knows of any, let me know.

I mean, I know it's late but if you need any further impressions, I could provide one to help.

Heh, this is so going in the OP.

HAHA YES! Oh that goofy watch!
can't believe there is an entire substory regarding that.

Sure. Also, I could use some translation help with the bios as well, if you're willing. Otherwise I'll be winging it based off what I know. I'm not going wiki diving.
Never mind, I've got it.

Here's the impressions I have so far:

Story-wise, it pretty much ties with, maybe even surpasses, Yakuza 2 for me, which was my previous favorite. Gameplay-wise, it's definitely the best. So much stuff to do, with so much variety. Easily my game of the year.
finished it today, took me 115 hours!! The main story turned out be very good. And also, there are lots of funny and corny moments as usual. But I'm not sure it's as good as the second one. I'll get back RGG2, around cp.7 currently, later to see how it is.
Not to put words into anyone's mouth, but for me this is without doubt the best in the series. It has more content, more variety and a great story.
1) haruka, haruka, haruka. she may just be one of the best-developed secondary characters in gaming. very consistent from game to game, &, within the context of the series, very believable. her section of the game was surprisingly fun (& i suck at rhythm games), & funny...
2) not a big saejima fan, but his section was my favorite (& his 'other drama' was the only one interesting enough to get me to complete it)...
3) both the voice work & soundtrack were, as always, excellent. it's a tribute to the quality of the voice work that i could follow as much of the story as i was able to...
final impressions: well worth the effort. some of the usual elements ('tons of enemy' type fights, shirt-removal) felt a little tired at this point, but, hey, i'd probably complain if they weren't there at all, so i don't know :)

Too full of good ideas, Yakuza 5 tries to do better than the previous title, forgetting that the best is the enemy of the good. Constantly interrupting his story with countless sub-quests as useless as wacky, Nagoshi and his army are drowning in a rich "bouillon". Certainly, there is over a hundred hours of fun in terms of content, but the main game, which is a scripted fighting game is too soften to eventually float correctly, erasing any priority in tasks. We had fun with Yakuza 5, but this great funny and badly paced mess will not make you dream like the previous title. You can get hooked by it, but dont get stung.

I may scrap the last one, unless that makes me look biased. :P

I guess it's a sort of mixed blessing I had to replace my MGS4 bundle PS3's HDD. It was obviously damaged as well when my console Yellow Lighted. It was actually pretty simple and painless a procedure too! 500GB from 80GB means, I'm more than ready! Bring it!

I only have 40GB PS3 :(

They should release this for PS4 too, then I'll just get the PS4 for this and 0 :\

It took them 3 years to even localize the damn thing, where do you think they would get the money to port it to PS4? :P

Each game is technically a separate story, however some games do take previous characters/plot points and build on them.

0 is a prequel to the first game, so its technically a decent start point in that regard if you don't mind waiting a year or so for it to be released in English.

1 is technically the best start point in my opinion as it introduces you properly to all the characters.

4 is the next best start point really since it introduces a fresh set of characters and requires less knowledge of the previous characters/plot to get the most out of the game.

Thank you kindly! Wish the remaster of 1 and 2 would come out here, harder for me to want to play the older stuff. Leaning towards waiting for 0.

Damn, need to change thermal paste and clean my faithful day-one PS3 for this :O
Fans going in space rocket mode after 10 minutes of playing lol

never going to happen

original was never made for the PS4, would be waaaay too expensive to port it.

Maybe do some limited edition physical release or something! ... Ugh there's no other way except replacing my HDD is it? shit I might just try and do that if it's not hard lol

Pre-ordered. I probably won't have time to play this because I haven't even finished 4 yet (along with a lot of other games) but I enjoy and support the Yakuza games. I'm glad they are bringing this and Yakuza 0 to the west.
