Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

Where do we see Vincent's backstory before he becomes the vampire dude in VII?

Theres a few scenes in the beginning of ign's FFVII in 7 minutes video that I dont remember where theyre from. They show Vincent with some scientist he falls in love with but she ends up with Professor Hojo.

There is a hidden cave in FFVII you can reach either by Chocobo or highwind. I got the backstory from there. I also played DoC but remember nothing from it.

This is me done, right in the feels. Remake cant come soon enough ;)

Sadly no recording after second form :( PS 4 wont let ya

I am the 0.1 % percent, total 28 hours, used the cheats like there was no tomorrow. But also dicked around needlessly, if speed run then this is so much quicker then in the olden times.
Anyway, it was fun you guys ;) Now to finish watching the FMV and have a smoke.

Played 2-3 days 12 hours per day or so, on Vacation atm

Nice, I'll be here soon. On disc 3 now, just got to do the stupid stuff like kill the weapons and get knights/gold chocobo. Hoping to get play by next two days.

Thanks :P I'm a little overwhelmed tbh, I don't know if I should play with a guide or without. What are some noob tips to make sure I do?

Hmm. I don't really have any noob tips. VII's not a particularly hard game, so don't be afraid to have some fun. Fiddle around with different materia options. Make sure you use your Limit Breaks instead of saving them for bosses, because you unlock more limit breaks by using them.

You probably won't figure out the whole story in one playthrough. It's a combination of the story being kind of a mind screw and the translation being pretty rough. You can always play through it again or read an explanation somewhere if it bugs you.

I personally wouldn't use a guide unless you're going for Platinum. Maybe at the end for sidequests and to make sure you get the two optional characters.

Dirge of Cerberus.

I need to check this out. I bought it when it first came out but couldnt stand the horrible gameplay at the time. Maybe Ill be able to put up with it now. When does it take place? I want to play Crisis Core and VII again in order.

Currently, Dirge of Cerberus is the latest story in the timeline.

Got it yesterday, the game plays good, the nostalgia for that game is still there, Im gonna go for everything including killing all the weapon...Ohh yeah, I have only played from my vita, and its perfect for it.

Game isn't hard unless you want to fight the optional bosses in the end so a guide isn't needed. If you want the two optional characters I would probably recommend seeing how to get them (certain chat commands need to be done).

Only time a guide is really needed is to do some of the extra stuff like the optional bosses, chocobo raising, finding specific items/materia.

I bought this, as a compulsive Final Fantasy VII fan does, but I'm just now reading about the music looping issue. It is so weird that this very specific problem pops up in yet another FF port – was it outsourced to the same people or what? Hopefully it'll get patched, just like FFX HD was, if people keep bringing it to S-E's attention.

One of the things that SE have proven with their ports is that they do resolve the issues. FFVII PC's MIDI music, Type-0 console's motion blur, FFX's music/RNG issues have all been solved. The only thing is that it takes a few months.

Right, so i made a shitty comparison as i dont have fancy capturing possibilities for the Vita, but i still think the message gets across, with what differs from the original, anyone who has played FF VII a lot on be it either Vita, PS 3 or whatever should be able to tell straight away that it is fucked, now keep in mind i have the PAL copy of FF VII for PS One.

But that doesnt matter, the difference should be even bigger for NTSC players.

Skip to second 35 or so, i literally spent two minutes on this, so dont expect anything grand, in terms of matching all the possible footage.

So here it is SLV's shitty comparison

What are we looking for....exactly? I don't notice anything drastic.

EDIT: I just noticed the text. From what I know, the battles run at a lower FPS than in the original, which is a shame. It is definitely noticeable during Tifa's limit break. I remember missing it just with one reel on multiple occasions. It felt off.

The best way to tell is by looking at the menu as it minimizes and expands, it is almost like the PS 4 version is skipping frames, i.e. the vita OG ps one version has smoother animation. That does a lot for the over all battle feel. I cant be the only one feeling this, right ?
And yeah, be it Tifas reels or battles in Gold saucer, the slots are HORID. Just awfull.

Is it just the menu, or the entire battle system? I wonder if they could patch to fix the responsiveness, at least. It does affect gameplay to some degree for sure.

To me it seamed like the battles them self were just a tiny bit off, but im sorry, this is a old ass game, it should run flawlessly in this day and age, it is doubly so when you switch off 3x speed, which is nice in comparison to the slowed default.

The battle menu works with lower FPS compared to the PS1 version. It doesn't bother me personally.

It was always a problem with the PC version.

I had not heard about the 3x speed...I'm amazed people already have a platinum in this.

I saw the no encounters option as well, what other 'cheats' does it have.

Are people just power leveling with 3x on and blasting through this?

I did, no shame in it, but honestly the alternative with the slow ass ruined battle menu ir just infuriating to me honestly.

Should I be leveling everyone equally minus Aerith? I only just got out of Midgar. Also I've heard there's optional party members? Will I come across those naturally or do I need to go look up a guide?

Very interested about this too. Played 4h so far (until the pillar is destroyed), did I miss anyone?

Did you have any issues with it? I wasn't going to play this again just for the time sink but I might speed blast this game for fun.

Zero issues, was really fun to experience the game like this.

And i am off to bed. Hope to see some more plats in the morning ;P

Wrong, it's by Chocobo or by Sub. You get the backstory on disc 2. And then in disc 3
you can return there for Vincent's Ultimate Weapon and Level 4 Limit Break.

You didn't. The first secret character is available
in a random encounter in the forests near Junon and Fort Condor.
The 2nd is in
Nibelheim Mansion.
.

I used a guide for both back in the day, but the 2nd character at least doesn't seem terribly hard to find. The 1st one seems tougher to figure out on your own I think.

Back around August when SE had a big PS1 Classics flash sale on PSN I picked up FF VII for $5.99, still haven't had a chance to play it. It's probably the most iconic game from the PSX/N64 I never played. I plan on starting it hopefully after I finish Dragon Quest V.

Playing this for the first time, how many missable sidequests/events are there in this? About 4 hours in and really enjoying it but I'm wondering whether or not I should use a guide? I don't normally play story based rpgs for a second time so is it worth playing this through with a guide?

They're very missable, so I'd feel free to look up a guide for them if I were you. And don't worry about who you level up, your other party members will always level with you albeit a level or two behind.

Thank god. Thought i was gonna have to be switching party members out every other level

Bothered with getting Great Gospel for the first time in my life. Feels good man. I can't help but feel that levelling Aerith is the true way to play the game; you get a bunch of extra little scenes like her talking about Zack at Gongaga, or the small interaction between her and Tseng in the cave after Midgar Zolom. Plus her Fury Brand makes early limit levelling for other characters much quicker. I'm sorry for neglecting you all these years, Aerith. :( You're the true hero of FFVII.

And here's the crucial proof of my success:

You actually don't have to wait until Disc 3. Leave, fight 10 battles, then return to the cave and you can get those.

I have this on vita, but dont think I will ever finish it due to it being so long. Is the ps4 version the way to go because of the 3x speed and no encounter cheats? or should i save my $11 and play the vita version?

What is the quickest way of getting Gil? Back in my day it was maxing out All materia. I feel like that's going to be the biggest grind for me.

So how's this port in general? after reading some impressions here and with the music glitch I'm on the fence about buying it, do you think SE would patch it someday? is it really as annoying as people have posted here?

This would be just my second time playing the game, the first was a few years ago on my cousin's PSP and it played great, so I'm still not sure.

shit, i got aeris for date in gold saucer, there is a way to reverse in this part of the game or i have to play the game again to get that trophy?

I think it's pretty solid, having played both PS1 and PC versions before. Analog controls alone are worth it. I haven't even noticed the music thing myself, but I guess it might bug some people.

I'm glad you got the Steam version to work. :) I read your post yesterday, and I would have helped, but I was a bit confused myself, haha.
me too and ty :)

going to fire it up and start playing as soon as my baby girl gets home

promised i'd play it with her

;)
