I don't know if it counts, but I've been doing Santa Hats these past few days. The most drawing I've done in years:

It's actually been pretty inspiring finally getting back into it, even if just a little bit, considering I haven't had the motivation to do anything for like, several years. It's surprisingly been great practice figuring out how to emulate different styles. Some very obviously more difficult than others.

Spent today eating tasty German food and spending way too many hours painting this in Clip Paint Studio. What do you think?

I'm finally starting to get my computer back into gear after it exploded like a month ago, and by proxy I'm finally able to put out a single that was meant for, like, early November. Which means album art!

With the major background / landscape removed, to see how much was actually added in: (certain stuff doesn't show through without the background, though, such as additional mountain textures)

I know this is meant more for hand-drawn stuff over mixed-media, but I have these two as well, which are meant as more of a "self-image versus actuality" sort of thing I had to do as part of a larger final project:

Spent ages trying to figure out how to paint a background, and fighting with various colouring styles in Clip Studio.

Eventually decided to ditch that piece of artwork until another day. Here's a random chibi instead, intended to try out the Frenden brushes I just got.

I am finally drawing more again! woo~~!

Something I spent perhaps too much time on:
Decided to draw a bunch fo my characters in a height chart. They had underwear on but some of them were "racy" and it's funnier to have them blurred like this too. LOL
The one my friend drew who started all of this is the second guy, Ezra.
They were meant to be "fashion doll" blanks for us to dress our characters up, but let's not kid.. I just like having a set of character refs. lol
Completed over the week! Probably 1-3 hours for each guy.

Also drew this sketch of a supportive friendship talk:
1-2 hours?

And this very accurate comic!!! I AM TEH CAT!!!
2 hours??

I also coloured my favourite panel

^Cute! I could never ever in a million years try and do anything that is even slightly cartoonish. I've tried oh man oh man. Nope.

.
Thanks for the warm welcome! Your paintings are wonderful and intimidating! :)

Nothing to be intimidated about, and thanks haha.

Thanks. I can't recall that particular piece by Sargent but the values look great.

There needs to be an uncensored version of this. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Started another commission today:

They wanted an anniversary gift for their partner who really likes Magic the Gathering so they wanted me to do an angel in the likeness of some that are on the cards. It's a bit similar to the last one but the last piece I think is what made them approach me. I'm using the harsh cast shadows too much. I think I'll soften it up a bit on the wings. I've been using a lot of green lately and I don't even really like green.

Cross posting from self study art thread:

I am looking for something I can lug around for quick sketches but vector based. I guess I could just pickup a android tablet that uses a pen... I'm just unsure what are the ones to be looking at.

Are there any good size n res ones sub $200?

The Asus ZenPad 8 seems nice with the Z Stylus. Anyone here think it's good or bad? I saw one older video of someone showing the stylus point not lining up with the touch point.

I am tryint to get myself of an art block so I forced myself to draw 2 characters (one owned by nintendo and another not) on my smash bros wishlist each day till the smash bros broadcast

Been on holiday for the last week, and often didn't get any time to draw, but I got home last night and sketched in bed this morning. :3

I also have a couple of unfinished pieces from this week that I'm struggling to take to the next stage. Perhaps I could share them and ask advice?

Some lineless line vector drawing

G8asc0Y.png

I like the colours! With the lines, be careful with that strong black outline stroke, as it undermines the layering of the elements. What did you draw this in?
Whenever I do vector artwork I always draw it first in a regular art program then carefully trace over it.

Did all in Flash ... like most my digital art (including the mickey and the above one... but with photoshop effects to do make it diferent).

Somehow I feel that flash brush tool makes a result closer to when when I draw with pens so it pleases me =3

This project got really out of hand. I had intended to finish it within 4-5 days, but I've been working on it for almost three weeks now and it's still not done. I think I am just going to call it as it is and go back to working on smaller projects for now. If I ever get the inclination to come back to it maybe I will finish it later.

Anyone have any good brushes for drawing in photoshop?

theres this tumblr that's an archive of various artists brush packs, digitalbrushes.tumblr.com. It can be a little overwhelming having so many at hand but you might find what works for you.

Finishing up this speed painting

5 hours so far. I've been fighting a lot with colour choices for this one. When it's done it'll be the printable poster I'll be handing out for the charity art raffle I'm doing. As well as that I'm recording the process so it will be the first speed paint video available through my Patreon when I've got it up.

Hahah no need to apologise to me! I mean, when you're studying things are bound to get messy. Though sometimes it helps to really think about what line you're going to make next. The one line rule forces you to consider everything as carefully as possible!

Finished. 7 hours total. I'm hoping everyone will appreciate this as the printable poster they'll receive. I'm a bit annoyed at the moment because my theme seems to be bugging out. Why can't things just work. ʕ; •`ᴥ•´ʔ

I need to be more patient with my work again. I still feel everything is still a bit too rough....

Just got an iPad pro and I'm trying to draw more. Here's my first decent sketch. WIP stormtrooper using Concepts by Tophatch and a Fifty Three Pencil.

^ That's something that still catches me out sometimes; it can be difficult if you've not got a consistent set up.

This one feels a bit strange; it's not quite the kind of thing that I like to do. It's a bit on the cheesy fantasy side and I'm not ecstatic about the pose but despite that I'm sort of enjoying it still. I just hope I can make it turn out how the commissioner would like for it to be without me disliking it in the end. Still a few errors here and there and value changes that need to be made but it'll come around eventually. I need to do some more creative stuff though. I haven't just made things up for a while now.

Latest piece, Clip Studio Pro, Surface Pro 4.
I'm pretty pleased with this, although I'm happy to fix any glaring errors if you have concrit. :)

Masamuna, wow that's stunning! I love that pose, holy crap.
I badly need to do some dynamic poses. I'm so poor at this.

Thanks! Dynamic Lines (of Action) are super fun to play around with. Nowadays I'm really trying to focus on them first and foremost, then proportions and shape second. Next time I do this pose I need to turn the torso a bit more, his right arm is dislocated now that I look at it! (^o^)

Finished this

Now working on something personal, I really suck at this face angle, using bright colours and design so that's what I want to tackle with this picture.

samprevwhum2.jpg

Cropped version. My partner kept saying he looks like Samus then started calling him Sam. So it shall be.

The angle looks good. I would say the nose is possibly l a smidge long for that angle but the more that I look at it I dig it. Also really liking the color palette. Your partner says Samus, I say gray fox!
