I really wish I could spend more time on this. Trying to work on my values and softness. I feel like my work has been a bit too rough recently. I might go back to this one; I feel like I probably could have pushed this one a little bit further. Back to commissions...
thanks!Tell me about it... looks good though
these are lovely.

For me this last 7 days my brother and his wife were visiting me here in Japan so I didn't even turn my PC on, but I did a couple rough sketches of a couple things we visited, to show them how I would do it for a travel journal like the one I did during my trip to India.
The sketches are, as I said, very rough (perspective all over the place!)... but they are meant to be done in a journal surrounded by text and not much time to do them:

Wow CB, I absolutely love your work!
I'm really struggling on my Cintiq, or rather I should say i'm struggling with using my old cintiq as my sole monitor. Thankfully I ordered a usb to vga adaptor so I can get a second monitor to double check my coloring again.

Danke! Is this a pre-existing character or original work?
I drew this skull a few days ago, I meant to post it here at the time but I got busy and ended up forgetting.
+1 for giant cranium and sideburns >.<
Seriously though, it's always awesome going through old art and seeing how your style has developed over time as well as the concepts you feel best depict your characters. I think one thing that can't be avoided is over time, even when you believe you have this idea set in stone it will change gradually as you continue to develop the story. I find it always makes it more interesting to see in what ways a character changes over time. Good luck with your graphic novel. Are there any other characters or are you still early on in the story production?

Made this in probably 10 minutes, i have been trying to work more on the size of stuff and fitting it together.
I did these 4 sketches today during the lunch break and a bit after work.
What I did was just go around Iceland on Google Street View, find a nice angle and paint it.
Still working on body sizes. and different poses. Just a quick drawing.

Here's something I was cooking up last night while I was pondering over brush settings:
Any criticism would make my day. I'm thinking about reshading what I've done so far because it's still a bit flat.

Also what is you guys thoughts on drawing some ones else work. Like having there art up and drawing to get the same result, without tracing it?

I'm liking the variation of the brush strokes themselves; was there a particular look or "style" you are going for while trying to switch up your brushes?
My stuff in the past has always been a bit too airbrushy for my taste. I also have a problem of never tightening up my work so it strays a bit on the blurry side.
I guess I'm looking for more of a textured stroke. I'm getting it where I want it, hopefully I'll post an update tomorrow night after fam time.
The other thing I'm needing to iron out is my process in general. I always get ahead of myself when it comes to shading and more often than not i get flat chunks with hard lines everywhere. As long as I force myself to block in color for the basic shapes and take my time getting it into focus I'll be set.
Edit- your wip sums up exactly what I should be aiming for as far as process goes.

This one was supposed to be in comic style like the other ones but I got carried away with the brush and now its a painting :x

Must have been like 10-12 hours to complete.
Three more teapots, using the same linework. I think I like the second and fourth ones best.

Mixing in a bit of imagination with the reference work, for this sword I used a reference to draw the shape, and made the details on the handle and hilt from imagination, similar to the teapots.
I always love watching people draw it always amazes me how they just know where everything goes and how they draw there lines. Here's another quick picture I painted with my new SP4 today, this time with Clip Studio Paint. First time using the watercolor tools, I had no idea what I was doing with them (the blending was funky) but it went okay I guess.
I also recorded a video of my process here if anyone's interested:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2Ev6Q8pZqQ
It's a bit over 4 minutes with 16x speed, so it took about an hour total.
First time I recorded my work so I was super nervous and hasty, I forgot that I can cut all the breaks in editing so I didn't have any, lol.
^ Nothing wrong with being too ambitious. If you find a picture is too overwhelming you can just drop it and move on to something else and come back to the idea when you're ready with the knowledge of knowing what you need to work on. If you stick with it then you have an awesome piece. You win either way. Welcome to the thread!
