I am so jealous and filled with anger at all of you watching the movie in the next day. It's not fair. *anakin whining*
I'll give my full opinion. Empire is the best all around movie but ROTJ is my personal favorite. The Emperor's throne room scenes > Luke vs Vader in Cloud City.
I dont think its a big problem, the real ones of this movies start around the middle, I just think the doors looks really not good amd like it has been edited in.Okay. I don't see what was bad and I find it nitpickery at best so to each his own.
Empire is the best movie for me but that is a fact.
From what I remember though what Luke wore in RoTJ was originally supposed to be the Jedi uniform.Luke Force chokes guards at the start of the movie, walks into Jabba's palace and straight up threatens everyone immediately, tells Leah to blow up Jabba's raft probably murdering a bunch of innocent people in the process, and then later in the movie snaps when Vader threatens Leah going Dark Side.
The movie at multiple points makes you think Luke is walking the line towards the Dark Side (including having him dress in all black).
The Emperor tempts Luke towards the Dark Side by saying that Luke will be powerful enough to destroy the Emperor if he goes to the Dark Side. "Strike me down with all of your hate and your journey to the Dark Side will be complete"
Plus in a deleted scene from ROTJ, Vader is talking to Luke through The Force while Luke is building his lightsaber. So that could also be causing him to go a bit more Dark Side. I actually like Luke going boss-mode a bit in the early parts of the movie though, it makes him feel a lot more imposing and a more powerful and grown up person compared to where he was in Star Wars and Jedi. It also makes the moment near the end of the movie where he rejects the Dark Side a bit more satisfying.
It weirds me out how those that are on the Dark Side refer to it as the Dark Side. I watched episode 3 again for the first time since it hit theaters this weekend and seeing Palpatine keep saying dark side dark side dark side to Anakin to try and convince him to come over seems like something he should've worked on. It's a hell of a harder sell to tell someone to come over to the Dark Side than it is to tell someone to come to the interesting side or something differently that doesn't immediately sound you sold your soul to the devil or some shit.
They need to hire some consultants, they clearly have a messaging issue
This moment in ROTJ may resonate with viewers in TFA. Watch Han when Luke busts out his laser sword. He hasn't seen Luke since Hoth and is SPELLBOUND by his abilities as a Jedi! Kinda lines up with his "it's true, all of it" rhetoric in TFA.

Well, technically Han still doesn't see Luke even in this scene![]()

It's the best part of the movie, for sure, the space battle is far too short to be anything substantial and the battle on Endor feels more like filler than anything else (mainly because Han and Leia are so wasted). The power play between the three men in the Throne Room is amazing and written so well.To me RotJ is the Emperor's throne room. That's the scene I always think about when talking about the movie. Easily one of the best scenes in the series if not the best.

The complaint about ROTJ that always makes me scratch my head is when people get upset and say that Ewoks beating Imperial Stormtroopers makes no sense, but then they turn around and say they want the Empire to build the Death Star shield generator on a planet of Wookies.
Han tells Luke in a smart-assed way that his vision is getting better. Also note he's making direct eye contact with Hamill when he delivers that line! Also it seems Ford's direction is to react to the stuntwork at hand. This is a joke right? He's still blind from the carbonite.
So do we really have to listen to Trevorrow sucks Episode IX gonna suck until 2019 when it turns out to be good? Because if so that's annoying as all hell. None of you know how he'll do. It's kneejerk cynicism because you didn't like his dinosaur movie. I didn't like Brick or Looper but I'm not worried about VIII because it's a different thing and I trust that Rian, in conjunction with Kathleen and the others at Lucasfilm will ensure that it's good.
People were also moaning about Abrams at first because Into Darkness gave them cholera or something and lens flares, yadda yadda. Jurassic World wasn't even badly directed.
Martin Campbell made Casino Royale, as well as some of the worst movies I've ever seen like Vertical Limit. So I'm not so sure you can really make an educated guess because that would require so much more knowledge and foresight than any of us here have.
Of the three main actors, Mark Hamill is the person who seems to care in Jedi. Compare him and Fisher during the forest chase scene.
Luke kicking that guy out of the ship is so fake lol

I don't think you've made a post in this thread that wasn't at least mildly irritating, so well done on that, I guess.

Does this mean the fanboys'll finally shut up now that they have their nice, safe rehash movie?
srsly, I'll see it a hundred times if it does it.
How much time is between ROTJ and TAF?

People should just watch the movie and then decide if its good. This reviewers have always a different taste than you..

All the "George Lucas Raped My Childhood" shit. I get it, people hated the last three, but with such intensity, kept up for 16+ years? C'mon.
I have successfully made it over a year without catching any spoilers. Shit is getting real close now.
