Undertale is [has won] the GameFAQs Best. Game. Ever. poll

Rematch: Best video game character of all time?

Results are only viewable after voting.
I'm not saying everyone, but when you have a large group bitching because Melee beat out FF7 you know that people are extremely set in their ways.

Just so.

I'm the weirdest long-time vet on that board. The contests never did interest me terribly much. But for a few years back in the day I definitely tried to make something unique happen.

Kind of glad all these sites have come together lately to do things like this, as you said.

Are you someone I know on B8, btw? Just noticed you said "B8ers." haha.

Nah, nobody knows me from there, I mostly lurk. Granted, I've lurked since 2003, so I know a decent bit about these contests.

I always enjoy watching them, but they're far more fun when upsets happen. The reaction from the community isn't the fun part, it's the unpredictability. What good is a contest that people know the results of ahead of time solely due to X-stats? How boring!

As an aside, my boyfriend tried to convince me Undertale would make a run. Change my bracket to having UT winning and I have the top score in the contest. I should have listened. :(

I've yet to play Undertale but I'm glad it's winning just because it's making people like this platinum mad

Oh wow, I REALLY need to play this game, if only to personally piss off that guy!

This poll is clearly influenced by a Pro-Cowboy/Anti-Aquatic agenda. No other reason that Lonestar was chosen over Vinny and Spike. Shameful levels of bias on display here.

Cool that Undertale is getting some more love, even if some people are getting butthurt. Besides, it's not like OOT (or OOT Link) haven't won a shit ton of these polls already. Let another game have some glory.
That's not Swigs.
So wehn Undertale wins this is gamefaqs set to like implode or something? The levels of salt coming out of this poll seem to be astronomical.

I don't really care about this contest, and I usually like to see a new game take it over the usual top contenders. But yeah you folks with the "lol the salt" comments don't look much better to me than the people complaining. Equally lame.

Ha! I'm with you 100%.

Well. Except the boyfriend bit. Which is admittedly huge. Man, that sucks! Crazy.

I haven't played Undertale, but one of the few Steam curators I follow has this to say:
"This game somehow manages to be more obnoxious and unfunny than Homestuck."

Whom to trust?

Years of Underrail development only for it to release during the height of the meme craze of a very similarly titled game. Oof.
That's the real issue here.

I hate Homestuck.

It would be literally impossible for Undertale to reach that level of obnoxiousness.

Homestuck is shit. Undertale is one of my favorite games of all time and I never found it obnoxious.

Do you like Earthbound, Mother 3 or Lisa? If yes, then play.

I'd trust the vast majority of reviewers as opposed to those who seem to have some axe to grind.

Granted, it's totally possible to dislike Undertale for the game itself, but why do so many people who hate it seem to hate it for some reason that is unrelated to the actual game?

well the creator of Undertale happened to also be a composer for Homestuck. Take that as you will. I found it to be one the funniest games I've ever played.

The obsessive fanbase and a lot of the humor that has just turned into memes (think Portal humor) has already colored by opinion of the game and it would be impossible for me to play the game without going into it with a negative outlook.

I would say that the best possible outcome for me from playing the game would be to say it's "okay" but even that is just me formulating my opinion before I even play it so everything is useless and I'll just never play the game outside of going through it with my gf.

edit: Also LEGION COMMANDER.

I kind of think newly released games should be left out of things like this, only added after a year or so when the fervor has died down. I actually haven't played either of them but I voted for Undertale because it interests me more.

I can't vote in this thread poll because I don't know who any of those characters are...

I find that that quote to be a tad disingenuous. Toby Fox (The creator of Undertale) has put music into the Homestuck project, and is familiar with the Homestuck creator, but their works aren't similar.

A good litmus test to use to gauge your interest in Undertale is how you feel about the Mother/Earthbound series. It's charming and light hearted, with some twists and turns along the way. Another recent Earthbound inspired indie is Lisa, if you'r familiar.

Is it just Gamefaqs? It has a 99 Metacritic and was #1 on GR for a long ass time. It being a well regarded classic can't just be a Gamefaqs thing.
I'm not talking about it being a well-regarded classic, I'm talking about the weird obsession GameFAQs has with the game.

Like people on GAF like Ocarina of Time, but we don't foam at the mouth when someone says it's not the best game ever.

Tumblr and some of 4chan is raiding the poll for undertale.

I don't know what to think, I really enjoyed undertale but OOT is like my number 1 game of all time.

Something tells me we would all forget about undertale pretty soon and it may just be a flavor of the month/year type of thing...

At the same time though I don't care too much about a gamefaqs poll lol.

not that I particularly care about the poll, and of course my praise for undertale is measured, but how exactly do you raid a poll? what makes a tumblr/4chan user's vote less valid?

It specifically says that rallies are not only allowed but to be expected in the contest rules.

Plenty of us at GameFAQs don't, either. It's an overblown stigma.

Ask a Witcher 3 fan what it was like here when it won GOTY

I just want to point out for posterity's sake that none of the GameFAQs posts being brought here are from B8 regulars.

Just... for posterity's sake. >_>

Should I bring over some Extha posts? :P

About the poll, good shit on adding kinesis on there. While the reboot helped matters, I didn't think too many on this board cared about their release.
