Street Fighter V Beta 3 Thread: For when Star Wars is sold out.

I think that Capcom is setting up for having a small time jump in Street Fighter in a few years. They're putting SFV near the end of the current timeline, advancing stories along the way. You can already see this a good amount with Ken's son growing and M. Bison with white hair, etc etc.

I'm going to guess by Street Fighter 7, we'll be playing Ken's son versus Ryu junior or something like that.

Street Fighter 7: The character are 6 years older once the OG players are 30 years older!

Stories just feel like they'll flounder around some until they let people make life-worthy advancement. If Ryu's story still ends with "And his hunt for a challenge continues!", then will it be a good story mode, even if it has 20 cinematics and full voicework?

Maybe the Alpha-era tutorial is a good sign though. It'll be kinda nice to fight through legendary figts of the characters life, up to this point, if we get to see their progression in a few ways.

Good to know, kept telling myself to use that on wakeup sometimes but I never did. Glad I didn't.

Yeah, not a safe choice. You can get away with it, usually against fireballs, but the rest is kinda risky. Laura's wakeup game is basically block and pray.

I'd like to see SP matter with MP. Make a mini-TV episode worth of growth for each character's story (using preferably in-game graphic cinematics between matches), and then let each of those things have a bonus for use in MP (New taunts, win poses, different costumes, etc).

Make sure this stuff is available for all character too, including the DLC. If it doesn't fit in the current story, make it either a flashback tale, or a "what-if" saga.

I hate stuff like this, the less unlockables the better. Give the content or don't, MK krypt is a good example of a terrible way of adding value.

Parries are fun.

Then hate it! XD

Seriously, it's silly to hate incentivizing reasons for one to see all of a game. I can understanding hating the krypt, and I can also understand hating there only being 1 way to earn things. But as long as the baseline is solid, extra work being tied to getting something bonus shouldn't be a bad thing. Things in life naturally develop or give more as you get to know them more, and prove your relationship. Game experiences should be able to do the same. Not like you get all the benefits of a job the first day you sign on, y'know?

The thing I dislike about the Krypt is that there's no additional way to, say, get your favorite characters items available. I mean, if you've spent 200 hours playing a character, you should be able to say "I have all the stuff they can use in gameplay", right? VS play should be just as rewarded as single play. They have the purchasable unlock key, but why can't I unlock all my fatalities after I've played so many online or offline VS matches, too?

Another good alternative for the impatient or those who don't want to be rewarded for progress, is to have "Tournament Mode" all-unlocks like with DOA. Have all the unlockables and stuff available in such a mode, but disable achievements and maybe stat tracking stuff. This is also the option that could disable crazy custom colors and such.

So now the question to stay up till 3am, or go to bed early.

I'd say bed, you could wake up late and have more time with the game than staying up and sleeping through the game being live. 4 hours until it's live, could be 4 hours of sleep for free.

Edit: not to mention the problems that might be there when the servers are back up. New patches, new tweaks so people will find matches.

Necalli is starting to click, I really like him.

Won a lot of ranked games last night, his command grab was doing work.

Really? Maybe I'm just playing him wrong but his command grab seemed really horrible when compared to Laura's and R.Mika's.
The range is horrible and the start-up frames are surprisingly high. Does do good stun though.

Haven't found the time to try out the new beta yet. Can a friend and I do matches/online practice together yet or is it still the same way as last time?

Oh it's definitely not as good as Mika and Laura's, however I had great success catching fools on their wakeup with it. Wakeup block/backdash is suicide against him lol, and yes great stun lots of dizzies.

His dmg is pretty great.

It's crazy how good this game feels on any controller. I'm typically a stick player these days but I also have a PS2 Saturn pad which I like to play fighters with casually. I always felt like I was climbing an uphill battle when I tried to play with it in SF IV, like Ultras were really stringy to pull off, not in SF V though, inputs come out clean as hell on this thing. I recently bought one of those PS2 to PS4 Brook converters and was playing some rounds with the Saturn pad earlier. I was doing insane combos and hit confirms with the thing, almost to the point where my play was significantly better than when I played on stick. My only concern is pressing the Start button by accident in tournament play. I also didn't get to play R. Mika with it yet so I have no idea. Makes me want to be a pad warrior though sort of, makes traveling to tournaments a hell of a lot lighter.

I highly agree. Playing with the PS4 controller is actually quite nice. I prefer my arcade stick but if I had to use an alternative, this would be it. Rather curious how that Madcatz pad will work out. The wife wanted one so we'll give it a go.

I think it's hazanshu. Funny thing about that is that I thought she destroyed Ryu in the first day or two of the the first beta test because I played it like SF4 and thought she had hazanshu ready to go the whole time. As soon as I realized it wasn't there anymore I haven't lost to a Chun since the last day of beta 1 I think. I'm not saying I think Ryu beats her, but man it feels so good fighting her now without those extra tools to annoy and counter shoto's.

I can finally spam fireballs as long as I keep a eye out for jump ins or that V Skill. I know she still has that slide move, but it's no where near as good as SF4 hazanshu to beat get through fireballs. No more focusing fireballs for Ultra to shut down my fireball game, no more focus back dash sweep, no more hazanshu through my fireballs. I know she has more in her arsenal in SFV but I'm just so glad those tools from SF4 are gone.
This is like a small, partial list of reasons I hated SFIV.

Bison is a monster in this build, got to play him on Tuesday in the mini test. Psycho Inferno is a command move now. He can cancel off his crouch medium now. His V-skill can even parry and reflect normals.
Motion input Psycho Inferno is a nerf, fyi.
Crouch medium cancel was in Beta 2.
V-Skill has countered normals since launch, just not lows.

(me coming from victim's viewpoint)

If you condition the opponent enough with s.HK, you can run in to command grab.

Shooting Peach is now QCF YESSSSSSSSSSSS
What is it ?
Set whoever you want to play with as your training dummy, go into the dummy settings and put it in record mode, start recording and you get to play as the character for 100 seconds without interruptions and you can reset the recording anytime for infinite training.

You won't get training tools like block and stun options but it's better than nothing.

Thanks! Looks like I'll finally have time to practice a character this time.

On PC, btw.

Wasn't it always QCF?

Holy hell Mika got fucking gutted lol

Cross under cHP doesn't work anymore
Cross over fMK doesn't work anymore
Wallbounce with midscreen backdash doesn't work anymore
Less damage on level 1 Vskill
Charged HK doesn't combo into MP anymore, just her TC
