2015 PC Screenshot Thread of the Only Place Where Compression Isn't

Edit: Auto-Reply, I must say, your ReShade preset is gorgeous. I love the colourful, faint bloom enveloping everything. I know part of the appeal of the Dark Souls series is the uber-gritty look, but I really prefer the style you've gone with.

I'll get some proper shots later, but this game is very pretty. A slight step backwards from Unity, but at least the LODs are better.

Parts of the game looks okay. It really hasn't aged well.

Edit: this is in reference to BioShock.

Thanks!

The first time I played Bioshock 1, it didn't had "clicked" on me. I'll give it another chance tho. Infinite looks great, but I'll have to play the first 2 before it.

Amazing Dirt Rally shots btw, I have a feeling I will need to go for that game.
Mafia II is gorgeous!

About Dirt Rally, if you like rally and sims, please, do. It's bloody brilliant!

It's just a vote, you can post whatever you like lol. Everything in the thread looks nice anyway. It's just dark for my tastes so it's hard for me to see, but I can see what you're going for.
haha, i mean i'll post whatever i think looks cool come hell or high water anyhow but i also want to improve my shots to a point to where i'm really satisfied with 'em and where folks won't wretch in reaction too
i think for profile shots the high contrast lighting is perfect but for most other stuff like the shot you edited with chris's face being nearly blacked out from the harsh lighting the normalization is more in line with what i'd like- that kinda horror-action movie thing where you get the idea that it's supposed to be a dark setting while still having stuff be clear enough to recognize alongside lights being very distinct points of attention

My character is slightly crosseyed, I blame the enemies that hit her too many times!
Haha, I think it's the tattoo that gives her this look.

Wow you managed to make Harvest Valley look appealing... good job. :D

I'm not sure what he did with ReShade here to be honest, it must be fairly subtle as they look quite similar to the non-modded game to me, just with exceptional timing on those last two shots.

Just post it how you want to stylize it. If I say I like it a little different you don't need to apologize or explain friend, still good shots ;)

If you like that noire-y and high contrast style keep going with it. Some more Mafia 2 just for fun.

Thus:

I am ok with this sort of thread shitting :p

as for all the drama i don't care one bit about what you post and i also don't care what you think the game should look like or that i or anyone else is destroying the developers intended look
if you want to post shots of a game that is supposed to be dark and gritty and you decide to make it look as colorful as Care bear land i won't stop you .

+ i sometimes wonder if i didn't put Reshade in the title of my post how many people would actually notice i am using it for these shots .

I realize you are thread shitting (way to go to announce it first), but even so could you please stick to PC games?

Did I miss something? What thread shitting? Seemed like he was just making a silly jab at the ReShade talk.

EDIT: Ahh. I missed the Bloodborne. Heh.

Tried to get some DoF going in this. Doesn't quite look how I wanted it.... and I get some weird outlines for trees which just ruins everything.

do you have a guide on working DOF stuff? that's honestly the biggest thing i notice about your shots- there's an excellent control of DOF that highlights details very well

I do think people should make an effort to keep their shots varied, even if they are of the same game.

That's a good point. Noted.

Good discussion on Reshade on the last page. I use it for one reason only - because I LOVE it and it makes my gameplay experience that much better..most of the time. It's a personal preference really and sometimes it just looks better in-game than in screenshots.

The good thing is with a click of a button you can turn off all post-processing effects so if it helps one can always link a few differences on screenshot comparison if need be so the reshade haters can really decide if the game looks better or not without it. Or anyone for that matter.

Lots of gorgeous shots on this page..

Glad to see I'm not the only one who was a bit tired of some of the ReShade shots in this thread. ReShade itself isn't the problem since it's so customization. Really I just think a lot of ReShade shots seem to be sticking to a similar style that I find to be overly gritty It's the same problem I've had with what seem to be the most popular settings for a lot of graphics mods. It's like turning a game into fan art really. Quality varies.

Like Skyrim mods for instance. A lot of modded Skyrim shots I've seen manage to look more generic than the vanilla game because they're kind of a mishmash of various assets that don't really match. A lot of the grass mods in particular look off to me, like the whole of Skyrim is some dude's front lawn.

Same thing with texture packs. People lap praise on Maldo's Crysis 2 textures, but I find them a bit tacky and too different from the original look of the game. That's how I feel about most texture mods really, sacrificing art direction for the sake of pure technology. A huge exception is the RE4HD project currently going on. Instead of replacing a low-res brick wall with a vaguely similar-looking high-res brick wall, those guys went in and redid what looks like the same brick wall, but clearer. The effect is that the game looks how you remembered in in 2005.

if anyone ever figures out how to remove the hud, or mess with the camera in TFU, please let me know. Such a shame theres no camera hacks, standard gameplay just doesn't lend itself to exciting screenshots

Did you run into the bug where running the game in 5.1 the music only plays from the left speaker? Were you able to fix this?

Midhras, awesome shots!

You're using reshade 1.0 (or earlier) DoF? or the 1.1 one? Looks like you've picked a DoF type that gives this (usually ring DoF). If you try a different method (using the parameters) it might give better results. E.g. GP65CJ042's DoF (which is also the one usually used in ENB presets) often gives better results, better Bokeh too. (set DOF_METHOD to 3)
