Rumor: Gears of War: Reloaded physical coming to PS5 & PC only

This takes me back to the first time I put my FINAL FANTASY VII CARD in my Switch and started playing it.

HA!

For us in Europe PlayStation was our first taste of Final Fantasy.

How do you even play discs on a fucking pc bro lol

It's 2025

Hahaha what the fuck bro

PC physical releases aren't gone entirely, problem is that vast majority of them contain a single-use redeem code in the box.

Not surprised about the lack of Xbox version, it looks like MS abandoned the physical market completely after Indy.

PC should be like this. Empty box; Paper with the code
Anyway when it comes with other stuff like a statue or a steelbook, and if you only care about PC, it's something atleast.

Xbox owners don't buy new games, they certainly won't re-buy Gears of War when it's on Gamepass and Ultimate was given away on XBL i'm fairly sure so it doesn't make sense financially to press the discs and distribute it physically.

This is the obvious reality.

Once you're in a situation where you have to put this on GamePass, you might as well make it a free upgrade for everyone who owns the digital version as a way to maybe relieve some of the sting of this from Xbox fans.

But once you've gone that far, you obviously can't really justify a physical release.

What is interesting is not providing an upgrade path for those with the physical disc, but it's because they couldn't control the price of these discs on the market already. You can easily find these discs sub-20 dollars.

Microsoft's decision here is a logical one, that just simply won't play well to Xbox fans who see themselves as being aggrieved and slighted.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with Halo. I'm expected a Halo Combat Evolved remake in UE5 that they sell for 80 dollars, with no upgrades allowed, though it'll be on GamePass. I expect this will release next year Halo - 25th Anniversary.

The whole thing, especially in light of them actually deleting the page altogether.

Try and be specific?

Do you think there won't be a physical release for PS5? And what will you say when there is one?

Likely they deleted it because it wasn't ready to be announced not because it isn't happening.

So again, can you be specific and point to what I said that wasn't logical?

There might, but what will you say if there's also a physical Xbox release?

Sure, they probably jumped the gun on the platforms. Hence the quick deletion.

I don't dismiss the possibility of an xbox release, but I understand why it doesn't make as much sense logically. That's the key here that you're missing.

Half the XBS is XSS and with the digital XSXes even that half is going more digital. Then you have people who largely already own it. It just doesn't make sense to publish a physical copy just to appease a small group on the internet who will complain about it.

Let me expand this a bit more:

Let's say 30 million XBS have sold and half are XSS.

That leaves 15 million XSX.

Let's say that 2 million of these are the all digital XSX.

That leaves 13 million XSX with physical capability.

Now let's also assume that 2/3rds of all Xbox owners have GP (as we know that GP is also around 30 million, but at least 2/3rds of that is console).

That takes us down to just over 4 million consumers.

Now let's assume that of that percentage 50% already own Gears of War either digitally or physically (which let's be honest is a conservative estimate).

That's 2 million consumers, with the other 2 million having NEVER shown interest in Gears of War on Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Xbox Series up to this point...

That's not worth printing discs for.

PS5 on the other hand? 75+ million units sold, at least 65% of that is physical giving you nearly 49 million units of which most have not owned Gears... 49 million vs 2 million...

So let's take a look at PC. Why release a physical copy on PC? Beause unlike on Xbox, you're paying at least 20% royalties on the digital version to Valve. Every physical copy sold makes you MORE money than the Steam version and there are way more than 2 million potential consumers here. Especially off the Microsoft online store.

It's simple math and logic, but the emotional among us will get upset by it.

Is he still acting out online?

I mean I think he is upset that Microsoft didn't bring him back to do more Gears and he really wants to be apart of the franchise moving forward. His rooting for Sony online here is a stab at Microsoft more than anything.

Where's the person who started a thread justifying pirating on pc because of no physical copies? This one is for them.

CliffyB was always a very butthurt poster over here, so I wouldn't put this past him.

But it would've been the right move for MS though, all things considered. The series never really managed to go anywhere after the third game. Its kind of in a similar position to Halo, being shifted to another team and not replicating its initial success. Though I found Gears 5 to be kind of fun, its a better game than the last bunch of Halo games for sure.
