We should just get the guy who did this movie to take care of the Kessel Run

tumblr_mwzoinNiLF1s4ip2qo1_500.gif

He's busy with Star Trek
*pukes*

The only way Han can save the community center from the evil Tyrant is by beating his son in the Kessell run race, they have a prior feud over a girl, winner takes all.

Still wondering about the leaked Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker photoshoot. He wasnt shown in any ads or commercials.

Was it for the book? is this picture in it?

What Book was that Snoke Picture from?

Yeah. I can understand movies like Gravity and Interstellar being corrected. But Star Wars gives zero shits about its science, it's cowboys and samurai in space.

He's using the movies as an excuse to talk about science stuff, it's hard to just tell people space and physics facts on their own and get them to care. So he'll take some movie scene and use it as a jumping off point to say, "Actually, a real nebula works like THIS."

That's how Myth Busters works, too. They're not actually trying to prove that the ending of Jaws is bullshit. They're using the ending of Jaws as a touchstone to deliver some interesting info about physics, engineering, the scientific method, experimentation, etc. But people won't tune in unless you have that pop culture tie-in.

Who else thinks Finn is gonna be part cyborg now? He got slashed right down the spine. I'm thinking half cyborg bad ass like Raiden in Metal Gear.

He isn't paralyzed and Kylo isn't braindead. People are a lot tougher than trees in this universe.

Here's a fun question I'll stick in here in lieu of making yet another goddamn Star Wars thread;

If this movie isn't a Star Wars movie, do you like it?

Clearly a loaded/unfair question (The strengths the movie has are based on the charactera and themes of the franchise itself), but I'm a bit curious.

And now a serious answer. The movie not being a SW movie means losing actually the only weak point in the plot, which is the the Starkiller. It can become any kind of adventure movie in a dystopian universe from a WW II resistance vs. nazis to a Hunger games movie. The characters are really great and quite universally drawn: a scavenger girl who becomes a fighting hero, a runaway soldier sick of the atrocities he witnessed and who decides to help her instead of constantly running, a character who is seen as a legend of the place and whom might help the new hero, a son who is seduced by the power of the evil despite his parents being veterans in the fight against it etc.

They were most likely 3d-scanning him for action figures or something

I never ever get that vibe from Driver though.

I've never seen him in interviews outside Star Wars, but I wonder if it has to do with him needing to be very evasive with his answers, and the fact that he really can't talk about his character at all so as not to spoil things.

It was also the season that didn't get finished because the show got cancelled hence why I asked.
It did get finished. It got finished and released on Netflix. There were 8 additional episodes after Season 6 that were unfinished but released as pre-viz material. Those are canon as well.

You wouldn't ever see Korriban mentioned again anyway, that is just old EU legends stuff. Never part of canon.

Watching a bunch of boyega interviews, what a cool ass dude.

They nailed the casting with both Ridley and Boyega. Driver I think will end up better now that they don't have to keep him under wraps publicly for spoiler reasons. He does Anakin as he probably should have been, that line between petulant, calm, angry, and emo-whiny.

Wait, they are? I thought they were released with the sentiment that because they were never finished they aren't canon.

Guys, what about The Raid actors?

As an Indonesian I was absolutely ecstatic they got some screen time as I totally expected them to be the faceless Knights of Ren, but I was disappointed they got killed off so quickly. Hopefully they come back as the Knights of Ren.

So...

I'm not willing to go through all 152 pages of this thread, but I hope I'm not the only one who felt like Boyega stole the show.

I just wasn't invested in Rey at all, and I was a bit disappointed that she was the one who ended up being Force Sensitive. Finn was funny, charming, and determined. He had amazing screen presence, and I feel like he was the "lead" of the film.

Twitter spoiled Han's death. What made it surprising is that I don't spend time in circles on twitter where I would have been concerned about SW spoilers, but yeah, someone made sure to put that in there for me. Not a huge deal, though.

I dunno. It wasn't a bad film. It just wasn't as satisfying as I was hoping. There wasn't really any backstory other than the opening crawl, there were a whoooole lot of nostalgia grabs, the final fight scene was kinda meh in my opinion. I won't say it didn't work for me as a whole, but it wasn't what I expected, and unfortunately I don't mean it in a good way.

You guys all seem to think it's been like a week since Luke left. The amount of time is never revealed, but to me it feels like a long time.

Yes, Lucasfilm considers all their unfinished Clone Wars scripts canon and will eventually adapt them all.

The siege of Mandalore arc we never saw was referenced in Rebels.

Most people won't give a shit to be fair.

Well, most people are dumb then. This is a basic plot point. Considering the entire plot is hinged around this group it should make sense to explain at some point in the film who they are, not force me to read the internet to get an explanation. Right now it's "Nyah, nyah, nyah, the Republic betrayed us!" But how are they being betrayed at all? They're an insurgency. Also, if they had this superweapon ready, why not destroy the Republic sooner?

I really hate reading the news that Star Wars barely broke the international weekend box office records beating Jurassic World after 8 million "adjustment".

I just don't understand why this statistic exists considering one has China in it (JW) and another doesn't? This automatically makes is a terrible metric and it's all over the news, damn.

I feel like if Ben/Kylo existed in our world, he'd be one of those kids that became a school shooter. Which is kind of the perfect characterization for what he is.

Box office sales in general is a pretty poor metric, what with variable ticket prices due to IMAX and 3D, varying ticket prices over the years, inflation, plus a host of other factors.

It's just an e-peen contest for studios, and movie fans

I think Finn stole the show as well, fwiw - I think I like Rey a lot more than you, but Finn was awesome. Reminds me a bit of the Han / Luke dynamic, where although Rey is the main protagonist, Finn tends to be more human and more relatable IMO.

As a guy, I still want a Rey shirt and a Finn shirt I can wear.

You could also just phrase this as a brag:

Star Wars beat Jurassic World even though Jurassic had China and Star Wars didn't.

I don't disagree with you regarding its absence from the film. I think they should have given more detail on the Republic but the film still works without it. I wasn't watching it wondering how the First Order gathered enough resources to build Starkiller Base or who the Resistance were and why they needed to be formed. It was essentially the Rebels vs Empire again which I didn't have a problem with.

As for why they only just decided to use it, I can't remember exactly but it had probably just become operational, as with Death Stars 1 and 2.

Where I can watch that unfinish episodes?

dude could be great in comedies i bet.

He is the heart and soul of TFA for me and quite possibly the best audience stand in I have ever seen.

Best part is that he had some character flaws too. The dude wasn't just all fun and games. He was selfish, manipulative and let his fear of the First Order override any concern he may have had for the countless innocents. I am stanning for Boyega and Finn and ship the shit out of Finnrey, but I think it's kind of overlooked how he has less than admirable and distasteful facets to his character. It made him all the more relatable to me.

I wonder if we'll actually see the Kessel Run in the Han Solo prequel...

Sure we will, together with the reason Han owes Jabba a ton of money in ANH and also how Greedo gets hired, how Han met the Walking Carpet, how he wins the Falcon from Lando.
NOTHING will be left unexplained. Prequel writers always comb through every bit of throwaway dialogue from the movie to feed their plot.
