my Steam Xmas loot:

1. Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers 20th Anniversary Edition
2. Undertale
3. Party Hard
4. Pillars of Eternity
5. Dying Light

a good time should be had.

If you only have the standard game, the consensus is that Art of War is great for expanding the war stuff and a must-buy. The other DLCs tend to be more optional - a few have nifty features (Conquest of Paradise allows for, for example, a Random New World (they just reworked how that is done in 1.14) and supporting independence of people), etc. I'm not familiar with whether or not The Cossacks is being looked at as a good expansion though, but certainly if you only have the base game, get Art of War then look at the others bit by bit and see which strike your fancy. This video is outdated (doesn't have the 2 most recent expansions) but the advice still stands.

Thanks for the advice! Will buy Art of War then and think about the rest...

So, bought Azure Striker Gunvolt... but I thought it included Mighty Gunvolt? Did that promotion expired... or perhaps I was confused about it?

Thanks for the advice. Think I'll skip it. She still plays Colors all the time and I got her Lego Jurassic World in the sale earlier. If its not as good I'll hold off for a while and see if there's a bigger discount somewhere in the future

Well when I say it's not as good as Colors it's just because Colors was all new while Generations is more of an Anniversary title, and it has less emphasis on the whisps but I wouldn't put it that far below Colors.

also there is a demo on Steam if you want to have her give it a try and ask her what she thought of it..

Definitely thinking about getting The Long Dank, especially reading how the developers are adding a story campaign to the game. At least I'm in no rush to purchase it.

Wooow, I got gifted Trails in the Sky on GOG. That saves me some money.

I strongly recommend it if you're looking for a good Zelda-like game. It's pretty short (about 8 hours or so, more if you're after those 100% achievements) but looks beautiful, plays great, and oozes charm. It's another game that's in the running for my top 5 of the year.

Oh right I remember you recommending it! Does sound good. Time to fire up that trusty idlemaster and hope for a foil!:D

It's a decent Zelda-like. Don't go in expecting an actual Zelda game and you'll probably enjoy it. Just avoid the fishing segments, they start to get very frustrating towards the end.

Sounds good, much appreciated.

What about the expansion packs for EU4? I currently only have the standard game, are any/all of them worthwhile? Because while on sale, there's still a lot of them...

I like most of them, but Art of War, Common Sense are very much worth it. Res Publica, Wealth of Nations depends on your play style (trading improvements are pretty high here). Conquest of Paradise and El Dorado have a lot of things for colonization and the latter also has custom nation builder.

Then you have custom music and units on top of the above. I've been buying this since release so after this sale will be caught up except for Cossacs.

Didn't thought much of it since it was a mobile game at first but you're raising my interest

Not as good as Guardian of Light but absolutely worth it for $5.

I really enjoyed the first, played it co-op with a mate.

So, this was an easy buy for me.

Don't make that same mistake, the game is terrible, buggy, runs like shit. Tried playing with two other people, multiple times, and we had sync issues or crashes before the first level was finished.

Don't buy it.

I also enjoyed the first one. A lot. I did have a lot of trouble playing through the first one though, since me and my buddy had that bug where we kept disconnecting after playing through a couple of levels. Took like half a year to finish the game that way, since there wasn't an option to connect through LAN, only online and there wasn't really much support from the devs. Still one of my favourite co-op games ever though. Give it a try for 5 bucks or are there any other similar games like these on Steam?

I've tried FORCED since it looked kinda similar at first: puzzles, isometric view, co-op, but it wasn't really good...

Didn't know there was a demo. Will try it out. Thanks.

Are you supposed to get a card when you view your daily queue? I didn't get one this morning when the sale when live.

edit: ah they are working now I guess.

Wish there was a filter for Zombie and Early Access games tbh

How accessible is Pillars of Eternity for someone who doesn't have much experience with isometric CRPGs?

Not bad at all, only complaint is maybe the stats can be a little opaque in what they represent and counter intuitive in regards to the norm, ie. stacking intelligence on barbarian. However the difficulty is very forgiving of any kind of build you screw up. It is however a lot of reading, its good reading but still somewhat bloated for Obsidian.

Even though there are no dailies, it feels weird to be buying things, and I keep thinking in the back of my head to check the store for new discounts :(

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel the dailies... and the flash sales... even my meta games.

The deals I've lost... the excitement I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there.

You feel it, too, don't you?

Haunts like a phantom limb.

It may have started out as a mobile game, but the port was handled expertly. 60fps at arbitrary resolutions (I played at 1440p with no hiccups) and a ton of graphics options and such if I remember correctly.

The game had that Zelda-like "exploration and puzzle solving" aspect down really well too. The story is pretty linear but there is a lot of potential backtracking to find extra goodies or to level up your character further. Speaking of which, being able to level up your character in a meaningful way in a Zelda-like game was pretty great.

It's definitely worth checking out.

Hey gang, I made a Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey script that will automatically click through your queue to get your cards faster. You can get it at https://github.com/FiveElementNinja/Steam-Auto-Queue

Send me a PM if you run into any issues, This is my first time releasing something like this to the public, so there will probably be some bugs. Forgive me.

That's a small problem, but thanks

what I really need is somehow to save me a week of clicking gemify - waiting for a long time - FF crashing periodically - again loading inventory - clicking gemify, etc. repeat ad nauseam. And even a week might be optimistic.

Download Chrome -> Load Enhanced Steam -> One Click Turn to Gems

Final Fantasy IV is the best Final Fantasy and I think it's a good port of the DS version? which is the best version

so, probably that one

Cool, I never played the DS version. Looks like 5 and 6 are to avoid.. might buy 3 too as my DS cart messed up before I could finish that one.

Have you tried the Steam Inventory Helper? I was having the same issue, but this lets you do multiple items in one go.

MY GOD.

There are literally 100s of crappy Minecraft/DayZ/Survivalcraft/(early access, open world) etc. games out there. And somehow most of them end up in my discovery queue even though I've never bought one of them. They're the WWII shooters of 2015 I guess.

Since the first episode of the new King's Quest is only 99 Cent, I might buy that to see if it is something for me. Can I combine my Steam Wallet with the remaining Cents in my PayPal account?

Has anyone played KOTOR 1/2 on Windows 10 recently? I really want to replay the games and have them on Steam, but so many of the recent reviews say it's hard to get them running properly. Maybe they're better GOG purchases?

I just finished a KOTOR 1 playthrough a few days ago on Windows 10. It would crash occasionally, about once every five hours. Otherwise it worked fine.

I should clarify that I didn't play Temple of Osiris in co-op. I didn't run into any bugs or performance issues in single player. I'd listen to Codswallop advice and pass on it if co-op is broken.

I'm curious but legit don't know if you need to play Dead Man's Switch first.

either for story reasons or whatever

They are all self-contained stories. Shadowrun: Dragonfall has a few insignificant references to the previous entry, Shadowrun: Returns. That's about it.

You don't need to, as the stories aren't connected outside of a few references cameos, but I'm sure it'll be harder to go back to Returns after playing Dragonfall. If you're really interested in playing Returns/Dead Man's Switch, play it before Dragonfall. You'll probably appreciate the changes/improvements in Dragonfall more by doing that too.

If you're not interested in the first game, it's fine to skip it and go straight to Dragonfall.
