So when Steam Winter Sale started some folks from reddit noticed some hidden number in Winter Comic that is part of the Winter Sale. At first i thought that they are imagining but today they discovered that there is part of the code that activates secret password prompt and script that triggers this is called nothingtoseehere.js.

What do you thing GAF people? HL3 confirmed? :D

It would be cool if there was an ARG or something. This sale has been rather bland as far as the metagame/narrative is concerned. I want to believe.

This is it. This is the big one. This time it's for real. Not like those other times.

It's Half-Life 3.

Let's go.

Based on posts on reddit it seems that script was added on Christmas.
I wonder if they can figure out if it was before or after the store went down when the problems started.

edit: Just saw this.

UPDATE
Entering the code from the hitman page as an url:
store.steampowered.com/wintercomic/4f21ca7
returns a soundfile.
"I was on the right track, I could feel it. Tomorrow, I was going to search again"

It'll probably be nothing. Like always...or some content for Dota 2, TF2, or CS:GO.

I honesty don't know why Valve even bothers with ARG's anymore if they're not going to lead to anything substantial. All it does is throw a minority of people into a tizzy, desperately clinging to some kind of Hope for Half Life 3. Just to be disappointed time and time again.

I was wondering if this Christmas Noir themed thing was leading to an ARG event. You do unlock a map/ background if you collect all the cards. Though I didn't bother looking at it as I just converted my badge prize into gems so I could unlock some booster packs.

Couldn't this simply be an ARG leading to the actual killer in the comic?

Yeah, I don't expect this to lead to much, but Valve must be acutely aware that any ARG is instantly going to have people assuming it's related to an impending game announcement. I'll actually be a little surprised if L4D3 misses 2016.
