Closing in on Trails FC, which has had one year more of sales.
See XSEED? JRPGs sell well on Steam, if you put an ounce of thought into promoting your product.

No way, you expect them to sell more than Tales of games? It's one of the biggest JRPG series in Japan, we've had them brought over for like 17 years now, and the latest entries feature modern graphics.
I would say XSEED have done a good job handling the series. Of course they had some major setbacks with TitS PC and even more so with SC, but they got through Cold Steel just fine.

Any thoughts on the Shadowrun games? All 3 look interesting but I've heard people say that Dragonfall and especially Hong Kong are far superior to Returns.

I've heard the praise for the latter games as well, but I still loved the first. You need to be in a reading mood, but it's very well told. Makes me very excited to get into Dragonfall soon.

Dragonfall and Hong Kong are far superior to Returns. If you really want to play all three, play Returns first so you don't hate it for being a huge downgrade on Dragonfall.

Even taking into account the deep discounts on older games, it's pretty amazing that IFI sold almost 500k units on Steam in 2015.

Also, SR:HK deserves 3 times its current sales at the very least.

Grandia 2 did pretty decently.

So I've made my first purchase this sale and year.

It was Undertale.

One hour in and I can already say this year is off to a great start.

Would have liked to see Pillars closer to 1 million sold, but still pretty good.

Bad release window, terrible way to announce the games release date (Seriously, they had their own event for upcoming games and said nothing about it when it was launching just weeks later) no release discount, requires people having completed the first to get anywhere with the story ect. Just handled poorly all the way around as far as releasing it went.

I'll admit that I haven't picked it up yet either though.

Idea Factory making a bank with Nep Nep + Fairy Fencer + licensing their PS3 titles to Ghostlight.
Also, you skipped on Ghostlight games :/ they released WotS4 and Mugen Souls last year.

Good to see Witcher 3 topping the list of best selling RPGs.

What you did there.
I see it.

SR:HK sold pretty well, all things considering.
It has the same problem as IFI games - most of people still haven't finished Returns and Dragonfall, so all sales so far are from devoted fans.
It will still sell better than Might & Magic X, just give it a 75% off sale or two :(

I finished The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing my good GAFfers, so I decided to post my small impressions of the game! As always, my apologies for my poor English vocabulary.

In a market filled with many games focused in loot and quests it may be hard for some games to get the recognition they deserve and with The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing I can honestly say that it was such a pleasant surprise that I hope it’s not something to go under your radar. As you can expect, you plan as Van Helsing while also having with your ghost friend and companion Lady Katarina. The world from the game is a mix of wilderness in forests, swamps and secret lairs with a combination of cities inspired by the gothic architecture that blends perfectly with the theme of Van Helsing.

The Story is easy to follow and it is told in a very casual manner without taking itself too seriously by adding one little joke here and there. As you advance in your main story you will be asked to do another tasks, which, while entirely optional they are highly recommended to do since it will show you different enemies and different worlds. The best part of doing these side quests was that, not once I felt overwhelmed with a ridiculous amount of tasks to do, it’s just about the right amount of content if you just want to play a 20 hour long game without the need to grind by keep killing the same old monsters or soldiers over and over again.

With the option to choose between a more ranged or melee approach to kill your enemies, the variety in the customization is also a pleasant surprise. Depending on the style you choose how you want to engage your enemies you can engage them from far or close and personal so it’s really up to you how to tackle them. There’s also a decent selection of Auras, Skills and other powers and abilities for you to explore and learn as you level up. Lady Katarina, your companion, is also customizable and you can even order her on how to approach your enemies as well what to you want her to do. She can attack from close or long range, focus on the weakest enemies or on those harming you not to mention you can ask her to go sell your unwanted loot or even to buy some health and mana potions, saving plenty of time to explore a bit while she’s shopping for you.

It’s a very easy-to-follow game and fairly enjoyable. I never felt frustrated or bored and the game did not felt repetitive, something that may be common in these types of games. I had an enjoyable experience from start to finish while listening the pleasant soundtrack and the funny sayings from lady Katarina from time to time.

Seeing Idea Factory games on any notable list makes my heart cry from ouch.

I'm already breaking Arthea's heart with SC data, I don't want to do it twice by removing his waifu developer as well.

I'm not quite done yet, but at this rate I'm looking at yet another sale without a foil. It's a cruel joke at this point.

What if putting your profile to private significantly decreases your chance for a foil drop?

I bought that one as well today, but after roughly 1 hour I am not feeling the hype about this game. But then I felt the same about Earthbound which I never finished.

So I started up Dragon Quest Heroes.

-First off it didn't start because it was set to full screen.

-Second I use Borderless Window on a 1080p game on my 1440p display. It looks like a sand painting now.

-I have to change my monitor to 1080p so it doesn't look like complete ass

-Start the game up Cinematic audio is out of Sync

-Get into gameplay. The game runs at 60FPS for 10 seconds until it starts to plummet to sub 40. I turn all the eyecandy off. It does the same shit.

FUCK KOEI TECMO. IT PISSES ME OFF THAT THIS COMPANY GETS AWAY WITH SHIT THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR.

This company doesn't even go back and fix the issues in their old ports. I felt that Square Enix would have put a boot in their ass so I took my chances on this port.

Koei Tecmo just doesn't care. Once their contract is up they hit the road. I don't even want that new Dissidia arcade game on PC because Koei Tecmo are the ones who worked on that game.

Koei Tecmo are pisses of shit.

Funny, it makes me happy instead :D. Neptunia series is great and they are some of the few publishers that actually listen to their costumers and improve. They deserve all the sales they got and more, their PC support is stellar.

Thanks

Gonna grab the triple pack with all three then.

I believe three of these keys should work:
RGNJC-W0WIL-QZ4NA
TGJL7-KWCPR-MPIED
RGTNB-QL8MR-75Y2H
TGQBP-XDDIA-IIFK9
RGVGR-DY899-9LF6K

They are for "East India Company Gold" and "Two Worlds: Epic Edition".

The whole thing is rigged

So you like 2D stealth puzzlers like Gunpoint and Mark of the Ninja, and you're looking for more? May I suggest Master Spy [$4.99 on Steam during the sale, OST for $2.49], which is like this retro 80s computer punk themed 2d stealth puzzle platformer. You're a spy. You can run and jump. If you're seen, you're caught. You have a cloak. If you cloak, you can't be seen, but you move more slowly. Also some things can smell you or kill you even when cloaked. That's the game. I think at some point you might unlock some other skill. And it works phenomenally. It looks great (like a VHS with bad tracking, sort of 16-bit+ art and animation, cool Ninja Gaiden or Snatcher-style cutscenes), the music is amazing, the controls are excellent, and it seems like while it's short (5 levels plus challenge rooms*), it's highly replayable.

I should warn you, Master Spy is I would say easily 50 to 100 times harder than either of those games. My grades on level 1: F for speed, F for sneakiness. My grades on level 2: F for speed, F for sneakiness. I got caught 212 times on level 2. I would say the number of times I've been caught here is more than the number of times I died in Meat Boy's harder levels. Master Spy is the Meat Boy of stealth platformer games.

Levels consist of 10-20 screens worth of content, there are checkpoints, and being caught does not feel frustrating. You instantly respawn and try again. In addition there are no random elements so it's all on you if you fail.

I took a few minutes on 3-1 and just said "there's no fucking way i'll be able to do this". * What kind of satanic beast can beat the challenge rooms?

I suspect this game will sell more copies if I just post some spam keywords here: Bloodborne Witcher 3 The Order 1886 Killzone 2 Metal Gear Solid V Konami Kojima Tipping Circumcision Star Wars Marvel Feminism

Edit: I have just informed I have been playing the game on baby training mode. The real game has no checkpoints. Also there is an unlockable hard mode where your vision is obscured. Also there are hidden levels you can access to change the story. What the fuck.

I bought that one as well today, but after roughly 1 hour I am not feeling the hype about this game. But then I felt the same about Earthbound which I never finished.

I'm mainly sold on the battle system right now. Figuring out how to 'win' each encounter without fighting is pretty fun.
