Some day it will but that's a long time coming and this is a huge mistake on apple's part. One day we'll look back at how we used to just plug in headphones and they'd work and laugh.
That silly old technology.
Do you think that Apple will include Bluetooth headphones with the phone? Or are they just not going to include any headphones with it?
And wired headphones = aux. Or so everyone thought.
This is just the first step in fixing this problem. Like I said, Bluetooth is awful. Things will get better.
Because of the many possible improvements that can be made? Did you not even read his post? The 21st Century, where you have to buy a replacement for something that worked fine because of reasons.
This is honestly some of the most ignorant commentary I've ever seen in an OP.Thank goodness. I'm glad Apple will kill the decades old, ancient tech of aux input. Good riddance. They'll drag the luddites kicking and screaming into the future, just like they have always done. Look at the past threads on GAF alone about optical drives and Flash. Hilarious.
Also worth noting that we can do this right now via Lightning and have been able to for awhile.Vanillalite said:It's also worth noting for audiophiles that the switch to either lightning or USB C could be a boon as you would gain support for digital audio (both in and out) which isn't currently possible obviously with the 3.5mm jack.
Waterproof is cool but a gimmick for most people
My moto G 3rd gen is waterproof and has a jack. Don't tell me apple can't do it
BT is cheap as fuck.
Yeah, because spending 300€ on stupid headphones to get a good experience is not expensive
Yes, let's all miss the point.$299. Okay.
Lol people arguing for this change are clueless. An idiotic idea that gives you two inferior ways to get your audio now. Shitty Bluetooth or using the only port for charging. So I can have my phone thinner because Jesus my 6 is such a fatty.
Apple Watch uses Bluetooth. I guarantee Apple also knows bt is garbage. They're likely working on some sweet wireless protocol. Maybe they'll open it.
This really is the optical disc thread all over again.
Depends on if that stupid half added smaller connector is real. THAT would be the stupid thing especially if it is just a smaller analog port.
BT is cheap as fuck. It's just got a markup cause its "new" so why not try and make extra cash out of people. Switching to cheap BT earpods wouldn't exactly be a huge hit to the bottom line or something. Then Apple could sell the legacy adapter for extra.
I'm not an Apple soothsayer though.
Yes, let's all miss the point.
Somehow I'm doubting that Apple would include BT headphones. That seems like their $49-99 option for "premium headphones" while they'll include some type of wired solution that costs them almost nothing. Wouldn't be shocked if it comes with some sort of adapter to charge your phone, or use headphones.. If you want to do both, that'll be a $29 adapter.
Please post a link to a set of Bluetooth headphones that are in the mainstream consumer's price point that sound great. Seems like it would be a great resource for GAF if we're truly being pushed to use BT going forward.

I don't doubt that a $299 set of BT headphones could sound good, what I'm asking for is for you or someone else that's knowledgeable, to post a link to a set of Bluetooth headphones that are in the mainstream consumer's price point that sound great. Why are people so focused on the wireless hesdphones bit? You'd still have headphones you use via lighting port.
And pay tons of money for official certified ones. Apple locks out cheap Lightning-USB cables all the time, they will continue to do this with headphones. Why are people so focused on the wireless hesdphones bit? You'd still have headphones you use via lighting port.
Wow. 100$. Still expensive like shit.Jaybirds. MKB did a review of them. The X2s are newer so they have a markup. You can get the X1s for under $100 though. My local target had them like $75 over the Holidays.

That makes it even more stupid! If it were just some connection bullshit at least I'd understand their motives. It might only be January 5th, but the OP is already a candidate for worst post of the year.Edit: People are confusing the lightning thing. Apple doesn't want you to use a proprietary hook up. They want you to use wireless. They're just giving you lightning as the connected option. Join us in the 21st century jfc

And why not use standards and not properiary shit when it makes no sense?
Wow. 100$. Still expensive like shit.
.Let me refer you all to two posts from the previous thread.

Pffft. This is some funny shit.Whatever you say Don Mattrick

I
I found my perfect pair of headphones, they are Sonys, wired and in ear and coast 20.I said $75 not $100. You can get the Sony ones for $50.
You aren't exactly gonna get good earbuds or headphones that are wired for cheaper.
Again I think getting rid of the jack is stupid for the sake of thinness.
Yet the logic leaps some have in this thread are ridiculous.
