Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

I'm aware why in general, I just meant that interviewing a dude who can't speak was probably not the best idea.

I assume they set up the interview times as part of the schedule, and I assume that Greenalink losing his voice was a very recent development (i.e. probably caught that cold just today).

Wow, this game looks pretty cool and great commentary as always from the guy in the middle.

Just about as rude as you ignoring everything.
You literally just came in, shat on perlers and are not presenting a different solution, or respond to questions.

"Hi perlers are awful and AGDQ shouldn't make them prizes since AGDQ has become a huge event in gamer culture."

"Eat a bag of shit Odrion!!"

"That's mean."

"Well you're not hearing us out man!"

But I am going to stop because this is how people get banned. It's not unlikely that I could get banned because I decided to double down, but I'm not going to stretch this slap fight out any further. Well, past this post.

Perlers are amateurish. It's a amateurish hobby creation that anybody can make in a short amount of time with little training (especially if it's 1x1 copying a small sprite.) They have small if any value. I doubt anybody is donating $5 to win one. Their presence hurts AGDQ's image as an organized event to me, much like how bad scheduling or their graphical layout hurts their image. If you want my solution it's to not have them as prizes as I've said in my first post. At this point I think it's better just to let people donate $5 because they want to than to insinuate that they should because of *~perlers~* They could also give away more drawings or whatever, but just having a vacuum of giveaways at that price is an improvement.

Also I don't understand the point of shouting out "CANCER ORGANIZATION" as if it things that are morally good are exempt from critique. That didn't stop people criticizing how they schedule or how bad their graphics interface can be.

edit:
This looks different to me:
I don't see how "they're donated" is relevant to the argument. I mean, good on those who do the (relatively minor) work and pay the postage, but that doesn't mean AGDQ is obligated to give them away and that doesn't make perlers any better.

Yea, really, this commentary is amazing.

Has he been at another GDQ? I don't remember him from past events

He's been at the last 2 agdq's for sure, can't remember about sgdq's but I believe so. He's a staple for a reason - he's the best commentator to ever grace a gdq couch. He rarely streams himself, but funnels attention to various events throughout the year from his twitter. You'll see him in twitch chats frequently when there's some cool speedstuff happening. He's awesome.

weren't they donated to them to use as raffle prizes? what are they supposed to do, spit in the persons face and throw then out on to the street?

It's not about showing off skill or whatever, it's about the charity. Anyone could just go buy the perler they want, it's just a nice little bonus. Lots of charity drives do this--prizes that are just neat little bonuses that aren't anything special, but are nice and relevant. I also don't see how they'd "grow out of" giving them away. As long as people want them, they'll give them away.

You're the one complaining that a CANCER CHARITY isn't giving out good enough gifts as donation incentives.

Also, ALL of the prizes are donated to AGDQ. All of them. That includes perlers. What are they supposed to do, reject prizes that are supposed to be goodies to attract a couple more donations for charity?

No, I just think it's dumb to feel superior to other people due to frivolous things like how someone spends their free time or decorates their home. If you were actually a self-respecting adult, you'd understand that all of that shit matters fuck all and how stupid it is to judge people based on what kind of crap they have filling their apartments/houses/rooms.

But maybe that's just me being mean and telling you to eat a bag of shit!

I doubt anybody is donating $5 to win one.

Clearly you're not listening to donation comments. Ever since they started having perlers as prizes years back, people have donated with comments saying "Man I really want that perler!"

Their presence hurts AGDQ's image as an organized event to me.

What about hand-made art, knitted goods, and other clearly non-professional hobbyist products?

Also I don't understand the point of shouting out "CANCER ORGANIZATION" as if it things that are morally good are exempt from critique.

You're not critiquing, though, you're going "Ugh, perlers are so shit, people who like them are just children, any 5-year-old could make them."

blechy gives you a total crash course in any game he's commenting. Love when he gets active in streaming stuff, like when Strider NES got busted open.

The donation readers seriously need to pay attention. This is like the 20th time I've seen them say, "And this would be a good time for donations," followed by silence because the donations reader wasn't listening.

The thing, Blechy gives a nice balance of commentary. Yes he's talking a lot but due to his knowledge, vocabulary and how articulate he is and his appealing voice, it's nowhere near as annoying as other runs. Oddly professional that would be great for an esports commentary.
I have no issue with someone talking this much when they are this professional at it.

I agree. I really like Blechy's commentary. I've always been interested in ASG, but never got around to picking it up, but his explanations of the various mechanics and what the players are doing is absolutely fantastic and keeping me interested.

Me:

"Oh, this game's not really my thing, maybe I'll just watch some hockey or.... oh wait, Blecky's on the couch?" <stop and watch>

lmao DS Dad

You're never too old to play videogames.
