How does this still run?

wow why are you guys so negative? is it the time?
Its midnight here and I am drunk. Maybe thats why I am entertained.

Absolutely the time for me. I can't help but think of all the great games I missed during the week because they were aired at terrible times only to have the most universally watchable weekend space devoted to... whatever this is.

kinda. its still BB though. I've gotten so used to Lobos's challenge runs that it'll be nice to see it completed so quickly.

maybe you should look at the source instead of the reaction. but I appreciate you spending the time and posts to set me straight.

Or maybe I look at both? And you're welcome. You sound like a blast.

I must say I'm not a fan of breaking the games until they are a glitchy mess. I'd rather GDQ didn't become a showcase for hacking skills. I like actual game play, not what we are seeing right now.
Out of a week long marathon that runs 24 hours a day dedicated to that very thing, a few segments dedicated to breaking games and showing how messed up they can be (and playable nonetheless), is a great thing. Gives some variety and just plain stupid fun for a bit before getting to the real skills again. This was one of the better things out of this whole event for me.

gdq is too professional these days, so corporate there's no fun any more - wait this part is too unprofessional ugh my vibes are being killed

best part is i bet a published version of this once more testing is done will be available :o

Then you might be happy to hear that we just had a whole week of speedruns with actual gameplay. A lot for you to catch up.

So like 98% of the time this event?

Hyperbolic much? Abusing glitches to get through a game quicker is part of the event, and I understand that, but what we just saw was far beyond that. Luckily it was just to show of TASbot, so it was short. This stuff just doesn't interest me, but it seemed to entertain most others, so what ever floats your boat.

No, it's not hyperbolic. The normal speedruns were literally 98% of this AGDQ. So there is no reasoin to complain about a few minutes of TAS.

Why wasn't this at like 3:00 AM on a weeknight?

Why should it?

So many people salty at TASbot just because it's silly fun. It's like 2 hours of a 7 day marathon guys, it's not you watch every single run throughout the marathon anyway, if you don't like it just consider it another run you won't watch.

Hope they bring this back every year, it's crazy to see just how much people can break a game or push a game to its absolute limits. It's hard to believe that Mario All Stars took so long to crash.

Why should it?

Because it's bad "television".

I would be interested to watch the TAS people sit down and talk about what they did and how they did it, showing it step-by-step with detailed explanations. I'm not interested in watching a rushed and disorganized exhibition with a pitch out to Twitch chat to break things.

Give 'em a six hour block in the middle of a Tuesday night, not 30 minutes in the run-up to the big runs of the marathon.

Okay, let me put it this way. I hope this is the last we see of SMW total control for a while. Honestly once you see it done for the game once there is no real reason to repeat this during the marathon while so many other games arait, and this is the 3rd take on SMW "really arbitrary" code execution I've seen. Granted, the latter two had results connected to Mario, but they could play with other games. Say, make use of that failed stairs exploit in FF1 to hack Lightning into it. That would be fun.

Eh, it's on during NFL playoff games, which may as well be 3am as far as TV goes in the US.

It's exactly the opposite. I don't want to sit there for 8 hours having all the minutia explained to me, I just want to have my mind blown.
