Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Steam pre-order is LIVE

The basic leather armor stuff is fine, it's not like amazing looking, but it's leather armor, and it's fairly detailed and looks good enough imo. Just need to not wear the hats which always look dumb as hell.

Armor's not particularily useful as a "rogue" archetype though, can avoid most damage with rolls, so you can fully focus on using cloth and stuff so you look good, rather than try to get the best armor.

You 100% customize your own pawn, but if you want to use more than 1 pawn you borrow either the stock ones provided by Capcom, or other player's pawns.

I expect many people to make warrior pawns. I'd just need a full support mage pawn, which for that I might need capcom random generator.

I'm talking about fashion here.

Oh fuck, I just found out this game only has a single save :(
I plan to replay it in different build as soon as I finish my first run but deleting my old build is just a pain

Mage pawns are fairly easy to get with the right skills, cause you only need a few. And I think you overestimate the amount of Fighter/Warrior pawns, a lot of people pick Mage pawns because it's the most necessary to a group(you always want a mage), and it lets you customize him the most, to get the longer duration buffs/heals and change the elements based on what you'll need at the time.

Is there any way to change your Arisen look after you created the character? Like console command or something?

There's an ingame item you can buy to change it, but it's not something you can do that easily iirc, need to play a bit to have enough points to buy it. That said, on PC you could probably just hack it by save editing or making the item cost 0 or whatever else.

There's an NPC in the early encampment that sells a one time use item for rift currency, and it's the only one in the game. In NG+ IIRC he has unlimited copies. It allows you to remake your Arisen and Pawn totally.

There's also a barbershop in Gran Soren that lets you do less drastic stuff like change hairstyle and whatnot.

You can buy multiple of the one use item.

And he sells an unlimited use one before NG+ starts,
after Dark world starts

i mean yeah it's true I guess. I'll be making a female mage pawn.

Hmm I think someone will probably make a mod or something for it.

Anyone planning on running this in 4K? Lol I mean with how old the game is, texture doesn't look very good. I doubt it would make much of a difference.

I know but I want to replay it in fresh start, at least it has NG+

It's in the FAQ so it's nothing new. You can probably fiddle around with the save files to make a new profile, but it's not automated, has to do with the pawns system and all that crap. Just find your saves, make a copy, then delete, and you should be fine.

If it runs 60fps at 4K, might as well.

I understand that minmax build aren't as important in this game. But please humor me, if I start out as a Strider. Which hybrid vocation will probably be best? Assassin or Magick Archer? What is your preference and why?

From my research online, it seem like most people enjoy the Assassin vocation the most, follow by Magick Archer and then Mystic Knight.

They play sorta different

Assassin can use sword/shield, dagger/bow, etc, and has an assassin's creed-esque counter attack

and an explosive move

Magic Archer is basically strider with the ability to shoot magic arrows and use basic magic spells from mage

I'd say to just try them both but I didn't like magic archer that much even though it looks cool

I personally liked magic knight and assassin the most, with the former focusing on using defensive skills as offensive, where your character can instant cast magic spells from blocking

Yeah, personally I preferred Ranger to Magic Archer. Ranger has the awesome longbow with plenty of nice skills to back it up. The delay before shooting skills with the Magic Knight was kinda annoying, even though the spells themselves were awesome.

That being said, YMMV.

looool

Like 80% of rift (player) pawns are goddamn female mages. You won't run out.

No need for console, an in-game item lets you do that.

This chart should be helpful to people.

I still need to try ranger, it's the only class I haven't played, ranger's shooting actually feels impactful and not weak like those magic arrows :p

Thanks. Like everyone, I will main mystic knight. Do I need to focus on Fighter and Mage first so I can take their advantages to Mystic Knight or just switch to it as soon as I get Mystic Knight?

you'll need to start as a basic class anyway and starting with fighter is fine and actually easier, I don't feel like you rely on magic all that much for MK, they're more like addons to your melee skills, so I've always started with melee

There is pretty much nothing quite as destructive in the game as a Ranger shooting 10-fold flurries of Blast Arrows. Too bad they weight a good bit and Blast your wallet on equal measure when used so.

Yep, absolutely melts away health bars.

So you can't change vocation from Mage to Ranger, right?
You can switch to any vocation anytime you want once you unlock them. You gain access to them by reaching level 10, then either getting to Gran Soren, or going to Bitter Black Isle.

That's not a good chart IMO...

You can. Your player character can become any class after certain (minor) requirements are met. However, only you can play as the Hybrid vocations (Assassin, Mystic Knight, and Magick Archer). You won't find any pawns as those classes.

You can, as there are literally no limitations to what class you can change to, beside needing to shell out the intial DP cost and getting to the character that allows you to change the vocation.

The chart only shows the relative roles of the various vocations in relation to each other.

You know what would be nice to have? I don't think this version will have it sadly... but in Monster Hunter you can save equipment sets. It'd be nice to have the same thing in DD + saving Skills sets too, so that when you change vocation, you don't need to re-equip everything.

oh yea I also didn't like the inventory system so it's one of the reasons I didn't try it, I only used those oil/explosive arrows once because I didn't want to equip them from the pause menu

I assume that you're from Japan?
I have a bad news for you.

interesting to see the reasoning behind it because publishers always never explain why they region lock their shit

Hi Chika, unfortunately, it's currently not scheduled for release in Japan likely due to brand conflict where Capcom Japan is focusing on DDO at the moment. Sorry :( That being said, if enough customers send feedback to Capcom Japan (there's nothing like direct customer feedback!), that may help nudge the their decision to release sooner than later. If you speak or write Japanese, the channel that'll get the most attention is Capcom Japan's customer support hotline. Give it a shot!

Do we know yet if the physical version will include all the files or most of it? I already bought the steam over GMG without thinking that I only have a 10GB / month limited connection atm. If the physical version has at least 5GB of the 13ish, I'll gladly buy it a third time (PS3, digital, physical).

anyone?

recent steam physical releases such as Metal Gear Solid 5 and Fallout 4 have literally just been a Steam installer with no game files included.

It's not looking too good. :/

EDIT: Fallout 4 was just 5GB, requiring you to download 20GB. It still wasn't that great.
