I don't think that's exactly how it works. It would make more sense for the Dark Zone has a Rank and Currency system that's used for Dark Zone Gear purchases.

So to have stronger gear from PvE into the Dark Zone as a low Dark Zone rank.. would still require a high Level. To get stronger gear from the Dark Zone (through vendor purchases) and bring it to PvE would probably take a ton of time. You'd progress slowly and be limited to which sections of the Dark Zone you could travel to.

The Dark Zone PvE enemies have regular levels and that level grows from South to North.

Your base level still chooses what you can and cannot equip in the dark zone. You still can be level 30 in the low level dark zone....unless they completely changed it.

All DZ rank did was what chests you could open and what you could buy from the vendors. You had two xp bars and still gained XP from the mobs in there to level up.

But anything that dropped or picked up that was contaminated still required your base level to match the gear.


I wouldn't doubt if that bracket is for base levels....hence the reason why every alpha dark zone area said no matter what 1-10 bracket....because it would match make you with players level 1-10 while enemies would be the level it said.

To people concerned about the size of the map

Couple of days ago during press event in Sweden, Ubi reps said that they are planning to add free DLC. My guess is at least some of them will expand game arena.

Season Pass is present in main menu so that will add some more for sure as well.

Here's how I assume it should work, but correct me if I'm wrong.

The player bracket in the Dark Zone (upper left hand corner of the screen) restricts people who play against eachother by player level. This is done for balance concerns as max level people with all their level 30 PVE weapons and full talent tree should not be facing level 5 characters.

Dark Zone rank is restricted to purchasing gear, but is also restricted by character level. So if you get a really high Dark Zone rank, then you can get some very nice gear for your level but it will not blow other people out of the water at the same level.

Case in point, higher Dark Zone levels net you better gear, but they are still restricted to a certain character level.

They wouldn't, there's better looking games technically. Moreso you should goad the developers to not shy away from what changes they had to make for whatever reasons. They imply this is assumed, but rarely ever talk about anything specific with the excuse it would make them look incompetent. It wouldn't.

At PvE Level 30, The Dark Zone repopulates entirely with high level PvE Enemies, so Level 30's won't be mixed in with lower levels.

If, say, there is instancing by bracket.. you still couldn't twink yourself in the truest sense because you do still get XP in The Dark Zone, you just also amass a seperate type of XP for DZ Rank and you'll get DZ currency as well.

If I'm not mistaken PvE Levels were capped in the Alpha, so likely zones and items capped in respect to that.

A:It’s one big rift that runs down the center of the map. But just like the other parts of the world, it’s not created equal in terms of difficulty. We don’t scale difficulty in the open world. One of the things you have to decide when you do an open world game is do we allow the player to wander all the way across the map to the most difficult area with a super high-end cool faction – which we haven’t even talked about yet? We don’t really scale enemies. Generally the open world doesn’t scale and the same is true of the Dark Zone. It scales regionally in difficulty from south to north.

One of the cool things we do is that once you hit the max level – level 30 – suddenly the whole Dark Zone re-populates with all-new content and challenges suitable to that level. And now the entire Dark Zone, instead of being segmented where you explore further and further north, the whole Dark Zone is repopulated completely for you to tackle openly again.

You still couldn't truly twink because you can't stop yourself from PvE level advancing.

Like old WoW BG Twinking was leveling a player to the top of a bracket and just not leveling it any longer, while using an alt to give the best gear possible. It only worked because BG's didn't award XP, so you couldn't level out of the bracket without intentionally PvEing.

This isn't the case in The Dark Zone. You still get regular experience in the zone, so you'll level out of the bracket, if a bracket indeed exists.

I watched the Joe video and they weren't getting regular experience from the PVP, they got Dark Zone Experience from killing the one player, but not regular Experience.

Of course, they never managed to kill a PVE opponent while in the Dark Zone since they are terrible.

So the conclusion we can draw with the available information, is you can twink if you only participate in PVP content while in the Dark Zone.

Watching that footage several times, Joe is a terrible player by the way. I picked up Counter-Strike last year and he constantly has terrible positioning.

I see what you're saying now. I think this is where the Rogue system may come in. The more you PK, the higher incentive for others to hunt you down. So it encourages a self policing system there in that respect. You can only drop Rogue status by not killing for a certain amount of time or extracting.. so what I would be curious to see is whether you're given XP at the point the Rogue status is removed (without you dying).

I could definitely see getting XP for succesfully extracting. Just hiding or running till it drops, less likely and losing it by dying, not at all. For now, pure speculation though.

Yes you are right if this is all from speculation this is exactly how it works. You player kill you get marked as rogue then you wait a time to get out of it you can't extract to get out of it, but the more you kill the higher the DarkZone XP and credits bounty is and the more visible you are.

You can keep going to the point where the game will literally call a Man Hunt on you which notifies everyone in a 150m area about your location of you, and your group and the bounty can grow even more from that point. I've been in 2 of those in the alpha, and beta. They were fucking fun because after the Manhunt guy dies. Everyone turns on another, and shit goes downhill fast. I think rare loot also will drop if you are killed.

You are given the DarkZone XP as soon as the rogue status is gone, but dying at any point rogue or not will warrant you losing DarkZone XP and Credits.

He's running on low settings, and this looks a bit worse than the Xbox version IMO. He's got a 650Ti.

He did a graphical comparison, but the man isn't letting textures load in so it makes it look even worse.

Make sure you are labeling different Experience values as such or it will get confusing.
For example Dark Zone experience and Character Experience, or something along those lines.
 
just pre ordered the gold edition hard copy. I get the amazon prime discount 20% discount so its 80 bucks, ca't wait to see how this game looks on pc! Btw who ever wants to party up for the beta and full release let me know!

This game had multiple delays. And typically when you're announcing a game people are gonna wanna see footage in some way shape or form.

There are bridges....but if you could go to Brooklyn due to All the footage we have seen they should have something on the map.

Also due to the way they made new York so accurate Brooklyn would be off the map further south and to the east across some bridge

Xbox One will be seperate servers. If I recall correctly nothing on Xbox One is cross platform with exception to the games that are on the Windows 10 Game Store thing.

Whether PS4 and PC are cross platform, I don't know.

She's a part of the Base. All wings in the base require you to do the mission to rescue the people to use that part of the base, and that's the same with making the bases better.

It's a fairly standard color coding that everyone is familiar with. The only deviation Devs usually take with this is the colors of the top 1 or 2 categories. But White/Green/Blue/Purple is the standard Weakest to Strongest color scale.
 
Christ on a bike those enemy guys look like total bullet sponges. Duder was getting centre mass and headshots in and having to waste clip after clip. Seriously I don't get why you try and make a gritty looking game and then undo it all through poor mechanics.

Take a leaf from Spec Ops the line and Arma, and limit the amount of ammo/equipment you can physically carry, and therefore make shots count.

Talking of which. Why hit numbers? Who actually wants that in their game?

It's an RPG. It's not trying to be spec ops or Armo. Hit points are a common staple in RPGs. It's not even that gritty looking, we have a high tech UI and deployable mini robot flamethrowers and healing items.

I understand it having multiple delays, but they decided to announce it when they did at the stage of development that it was in. Unfortunately small marketing windows like Fallout 4 will be the outlier. I understand the norm, but many (myself included) have gotten particular because of it.
 
Hopefully we will know more about what endgame entails and I hope it's not all dark zone. I'll play anyway but I probably won't stay more than 2 or 3 weeks. Not a fan of PvP in most game, hopefully this one is different.

Let's not kid ourselves, you will always fight to extract your loot. Hopefully there's dungeons or raid or whatever aswell for people who like the PvE and don't necessarily always wanna engage in PvP
