Street Fighter V Beta 3 Thread: For when Star Wars is sold out.

I only briefly played the first beta and didn't get a chance to play again until tonight. I gotta say the netcode is smooth within the US. I had decent matches with Canada, Brazil, and Japan. Unfortunately Europe and Australia sucked really bad, the opponent was teleporting all over the screen. I had my reservations but ended up preordering to try out the beta a couple months back and now I at least know I'll play it based on netcode alone. What a relief.

This is gonna be my first real foray into SF. I have like 20 hours in SF4 over a couple of years basically just mashing when people ask me to play but I couldn't really grasp the execution of it. Transitioning from KOF to SF5 is a bit hard and I still don't know what the hell I am doing but at least it's not nearly as hard as SF4. It's gonna be fun learning a new game in the next few months.

Also, really impressed that I can play with PS4 players. I hope you have crossplatform lobby invitations and so on.

So many random DPs on your part though: the crush system would have made you lose this match quickly if your opponent knew better about it. :D

Not exactly. He let me do it with impunity, so I did just that. I on the other hand scouted his wake up and punished it.

Yeah, you're right that him not punishing you is a clear signal that you can abuse it.
This is something I still have trouble integrating into my game, I can't play "ugly" even if I should when the opponent lets me. :D

Well like Miek Russ says, Birdie is a zoner not a grappler you should be defensive.

He's like some kind of grappler zoner hybrid. Like, he grapples, but it's at a distance.

Whatever he is, I love him. I am going to buy chocolate sprinkled donuts, cans of soda, and bananas when SFV comes out in honor of Mr. Birdie.

one thing to note

why does the London stage still look like a pile of garbage.

The NYC stage looks incredible in comparison.

I think all the stages are dry due to Marvel 3 & SFIV, the busy body stages weren't getting picked in tournament due to distracting players.

My guess is still on hardware restrictions. I don't think they would have these obvious 30 fps background character animations in there if they could avoid it.

The lighting is huge in this game, though. They make or break the stages for me so far, but I do actually like London.

Yes, rollback netcode tends to take a lot of processing power so by making more minimalist stages it frees up resources they can use elsewhere. Plus, competitive players only played training stage because its barebones nature gave it the least amount of input lag of all the stages. I'm guessing they don't want to go to crazy to avoid that happening again.

Oh man, I hadn't realized. So maybe I played against someone on PS4?? Is there away to tell? I didn't notice anything specifying what the opponent was using but maybeIu missed it.

It tells you during the loading screen. There's a little "PC" and "PS"symbol next to the other information.

I just woke up from the East coast just to find out another stress test happened?
Welcome to the Euro experience.

Any reflections on how characters have evolved from Beta 3?

I feel like Nash's moonsault was nerfed a bit more (hopefully) but wasn't too sure.

Didn't seem like free pressure after it was blocked like in the other betas.

Apparently Ryu can ex. DP after ex tatsu again and has more hitstun after his solar plexus?

I hate the ugly watercolor-esque filter they used on the backgrounds. The SFIV stages look better to me, lighting or not. I wish they could dial that texture filter back, but perhaps it is a band-aid for the stages needing to take a quality hit due to performance limitations.

Got to play a little bit at a friend's house, and I like it for the most part, but I really don't like how chip works in the game...I feel as though you're no longer rewarded for applying constant pressure in clutch situations like you were in the past.

I've been playing primarily Birdie since Beta 1 and I just want to echo the sentiments that he is fun as all hell. Actually got a 12 game win streak with him and I don't think I've ever done that online before. Dude speaks to me.

Good changes so far, though I think Moonsault should be somewhere between -1 and +1 on block.

With normals causing gray chip, pressure is more rewarded than ever.

You should never be rewarded by being able to chip someone to death.
Your reward for constant pressure is keeping the opponent in an off balance position, if you want to finish the job then you need to be able to pull the trigger and not tip tap them or just spam.

I'm unsure if this has been posted yet, but I got a good giggle out of it.

The last image should cut to the new alternate outfit.
