The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

GAF is not legally required to uphold any NDAs. If users want to reveal the information - that's their problem.

Don't know why everyone makes a big deal out of it.
People read these forums hoping to grasp as much info as they can but then contradict themselves and there excitement with whistleblowing and calling for Bans.

Too many people leaking through these alphas means more restricted access to alphas. If companies see that their games get constantly leaked through some test companies, they will stop using those companies.

Maybe you should research before talking then. People are being paid by the testing company and have signed a contract, with their real name and info.

Does it? If they want these to be able to work properly, they need a certain tester pool size. I'm sure they understand that there will be some measure of leaks when they release it to the public. If they want to deal with the people who break it, that's fine.

The idea that USERS would police a business contract is laughable. There is zero reason for us to care. They're not going to screw their own game by reducing the tester pool to untenable levels just to avoid some information from leaking out around the edges. Obviously, someone leaking information that they specifically did not want out there, they're going to try to deal with as an individual.

This is like companies blaming piracy for everything bad that happens to PC games.

hmmm I'm wondering if you've ever played an open world pvp game before with comments like this. Also this video wasn't even open world OR pvp it was a bog standard cover based corridor shooter where standard enemies took nearly a magazine each to go down.
Every person who's quoted me keeps saying nothing or the obvious. I have no idea why you even quoted me when everyone else has clearly stated over and over what type of game this is and the reasons it has went the route it has. And just because one video shows corridor shooting we suddenly ignore what the rest of the game is?

The only real concerns to this "bullet-sponge" gameplay is if they take it too far where it becomes an artificial difficulty, and that remains to be seen.

The bullet sponge criticism is not something I'm going to put a lot of stock in right now.

Similar to how when a new fighting game comes out and people say that it takes too long to kill an opponent, etc. A couple of months later that time is shaved considerably after refinement and knowledge/expansion of the game's mechanics.

I think it's the same thing here. After fully exploring all the options available in the retail release (ammo variety, teamwork to takedown, etc) I think we'll see that criticism lessen.

I'm trying to watch videos to find this but does shooting an enemy automatically make them marked (where you can see them behind cover)?

I think I know what skills I want to pick at the start of the game, and I'm glad since most of them are easy to obtain.

Uh, so I have no idea what just happened. I went to the beta site and followed instructions to input the key from amazon, but it never let me log into my uplay account? Some window popped up, loaded, and then just closed immediately. Then it says key has been redeemed, key will be sent to email associated with uplay account. But I never logged into my uplay account...

Is it supposed to happen like that?

Were you redeeming it for PS4? If so, that pop-up window was logging you into SEN and the email should go to whatever your PSN account is tied to.

No but there's a perk or talent that pulses them for 10 seconds if you land a headshot. Pulse is that effect you've seen marking enemies.

Does this lean more Borderlands on perks and less Destiny? I'm hoping for Gears of War + Borderlands and the only element from Destiny really being that there's always a fluxing human player population in your area. Destiny sucked at perks and storytelling.

I log into my Uplayaccoint quite a bit through various game related sites, and if you have your username and password info saved in your browser it will pop up a log in window and just auto log you in a lot of the time. A box pops up with a loading animation and then just goes away.

I see. There is also a turrent upgrade that "pulses" targets and I think I will be using that since it seems like getting flanked in this game would be the biggest concern PVP wise.

Right now I see myself using:
Pulse with Scrambler Mod
Turret with Active Seeker Mod
Recover Link Signature Skill

Also does anyone know how ammo work? There is one skill that gives you ammo as you reload your weapon (you throw down a healing/loot box). Can I just stock up on ammo though? I do not see money being that useful after you get high level gear.

You can fully restock on ammo for free at your base of operations, or at any of the safehouses scattered through the city. Out in the field, it drops from enemies as you'd expect (I believe it's one ammo type per weapon type, so assault rifles/shotguns/submachine guns/etc all have their own ammo pool/drops - your sidearm has infinite ammo so you're never left high-and-dry with no way to do damage).

I have a gtx 970 i7 4790k 16 gigs of ram and 100 gigs of free space. I hope i can run it at 1080p 60fps on ultra! The beta can not come soon enough, btw i already preordered the gold edition! XD
A bit above 30 fps would be more realistic. Seems that it's demanding when enabling the biggest stuff.

I have the same setup. I'm hoping I can turn shadows down to say, medium, turn off AA and then maaaaybe get 60fps. Not sure what the next setting to turn down would be, actually.

The near dogmatic hatred of Ubisoft and their products at this point is going to make this title very, very underrated. Excited to try the beta, on both PC and console.

As long as it got mGPU support it will be great 1080p@60fps Ultra :) my rig will be put to the test, let's hope the drivers are good.

Hate is one thing but it's been on the top sellers on Steam for a good while now.

I think a lot of big releases from Ubisoft are usually in the Top 10. Farcry Primal is one of the first I've seen that isn't up there, might climb before release, but I am not seeing any hype for that game anywhere. I think people are just burnt out on the same old thing.

3 days only? Bummer, I hope i have those 3 days free then.

Excited to see if my PC with a Intel i5-4460s cpu and Nvdia 960GTX FTW graphics card will be able to handle this with medium to high settings :)

Hope there is a preload of the beta. I will be in the middle of my workweek, which is 7 12.5 hour shifts, night shift. So the only time I will get to play is briefly in the morning before going back to sleep for more work. Poor timing for me, but still looking forward to it.

Hope there is a preload of the beta..

"Preload for #TheDivision Closed Beta will launch 48 hours prior to the launch of the Closed Beta trial program.
There will be no NDA requirement on the Closed Beta trial of #TheDivision. You are free to capture videos, stills, and stream."

According to this FAQ on reddit, there will be a preload 48 hours before it starts. No idea where they got that from though

edit: well there you go! (above)

@ everyone:

The e-Mail Amazon send you after ordering is NOT the beta Code, this code is just for registering for the beta

the real beta code will then be send by Ubisoft to the mail account that you picked while registration

Pc was yesterday but cant say anything, sry.

He was referring to the NDA of the event held at Massive where they played pc (possibly ps4). Not the PC-beta/ alpha/whatever that started yesterday.

And i've seen similar dates where the NDA of PC (again, not sure about ps4) versions ended and players were free to talk about it / show footage. But nothing that has been sourced so it may be a date they pulled out of their asses.

Well yes, it's stated in the email how to redeem it, is it not?

I don't think a 970 or 980 will cut it for ultra at 60fps.
30fps ? Probably.
