The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

I particularly like these bits:

This is good, very good.

I think that settles it, even though I'm playing the beta on the ps4 I will get this for the PC.

Probably worth understanding what that Steam thing means. It's basically saying the Uplay app is going to have a hook that lets you see your Steam friends on Uplay, then add them to Uplay. So you're still going through Uplay to invite people, not Steam.

Are we allowed to show stuff or not?

Embargo lifted 3pm for media so I think so.

The guys under NDA only talked about their impressions, but were not allowed to record PC footage at the event they went to. You may be under a different NDA.

Posting anything at this point you take a potential risk, your choice.

"The default keyboard configuration is sensible and intuitive, and the menus properly support mouse—to the point that you can equip gear by dragging and dropping pieces from your inventory onto the character model. In all, it's extremely promising."

Today, Ubisoft has released a run-down of The Division's PC-specific features. It's an everything-and-the-kitchen-sink list, containing some genuinely nice, novel features alongside stuff that you'd expect from even the most basic of ports:
Flexible user interface: move, scale and adjust the opacity of the HUD.
Intuitive controls: navigate easily through the interface, inventory panels and map designed specifically to be used with a mouse or a controller.
Full mouse & keyboard support: opt for the high precision mouse and keyboard experience and switch to a controller in the middle of any encounter without interruption.
Text chat: team up with more agents of The Division by using the in-game text chat.
Optimized graphic settings & customised GPU effects: adjust a vast variety of technology treats, from realistic lighting, shading, snow particles, local reflection, fog volumetric scattering, depth of field and much more…
Multi-GPU support: unleash the graphic power of the best computer set ups for jaw-dropping graphics powered by Massive Entertainment’s game engine Snowdrop.
Multi-screen support: play with up to three screens for the most immersive and stunning experience of The Division.
Multi-resolutions: opt for 1080p or 4k and automatically adapt the resolution to fit multi-screen configurations with FOV correction.
Unlocked framerate: let the most powerful computer reach the highest framerate.
HBAO+: enjoy the most realistic shadowing, lighting algorithm and ambient occlusion.

Neat. Looks like people with SLI and multi-monitors will be super happy to hear this.

The pessimist in me finds it concerning they've not let anyone record and show PC footage. Obviously the beta in a week's time will reveal all, but why not let us see now.

Uncapped frames, Uplay integrated with Steam Friends, modular HUD for customization and a test setup that my PC beats :) Daaaamn good day.

4K screens = porn.

Bullshots, downgrades, yadayada...

Seems to be a thing here.

I'm not saying the game will look bad but Ubisoft is famous for releasing highly touched up screenshots aka bullshots.

Screenshots are looking pretty good, seems like the lighting and reflections are quite a step up from consoles. Need to turn off that CA though!

Just saw them at 4k resolution, they are not concept art but the have been edited for sure.

We'll see next friday, but guys, just a tip, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

You are going to have to present evidence on that claim.

I zoomed around in Photoshop and saw frequent examples of aliasing, low res textures, and LOD. Things that likely wouldn't be seen in a touched up shot or concept art.

Those look like the real deal to me.

Possibly low settings, imgur compression.

or just check the ones posted above.

I see unfounded opinions and anecdotal evidence.

Wait for next friday, or just check the ones posted above.

Not talking about future or other images.

You said the Ubi images are doctored. What in the screens is proof of that? Crop line? Blur? Image Artifacts?

Or are you just saying it looks too good to be true, and there for is "edited for sure".

I think the DOF is n this game seems to soften up the image too much.

Nothing like that vaseline feel. :p

I honestly can somewhat believe those screens, 4K can make things look better than they are - Nevermind had a lapse in judgement considering it's Ubisoft and all. probably some touch up though knowing Ubisofts storied past. Only thing is to wait and find out, but based on what people are hinting at here it isn't exactly the E3 2013 gameplay footage we saw, which is both a shame and expected. Watch_Dogs prepared me for this day.

Remember this?:

Typical Ubi bullshots are in-engine renders with poses that don't resemble the game at all, (basically 3D artwork), along with some heavy photoshopping. That's not the case here. Ofc not every street looks as cluttered as that specific one does.

If you don't want to believe me it's ok, I'm just saying we should at least wait for the beta next Friday.

Not allowing recording is bunk.

But if my 970 can pull off that 1st screen shot with a smooth framerate, then I will say "close enough", snowdrop is legit.

If you make an assertion, you have to back it up with evidence. That's just how discussions work.

You have some historical precedent, but that being the entirety of the argument renders the point weak.

You are going to run into the VRAM limitation at 4K.

Jackfrags said the game looks great, one of the best in the last 12 months but it's nowhere near the reveal trailer.

You are avoiding the question. I am not saying I don't believe you. I am asking what made you say the shot was doctored. What we see Friday is irrelevant to this conversation.

You said the two screens, are edited, or doctored. Presumably in photoshop.

Now are you talking out of your ass, or is there some evidence to support your claim other than "Wait until you play the game and see if it looks like that"?

Ehh I will run 1080p. My eye sight isn't good enough anymore to tell the difference. Just talking lighting, view distance, textures and the sheer density of the scene.

Is that your evidence?

Because those screenshots look nowhere near as good as the vertical slice presented back in 2013.

Jackfrags played the game on a high-end PC, i can only repeat what he said in his video.

I was just trying to avoid people from getting another disappointment with this game next Friday but you're right, I can't provide evidence so I'll just stay quiet. Forget about everything I said.
